Rejected the Demon’s Marriage Proposal Thousands of Times Chapter 23.3

Holy Son in Danger (3)

They were both teachers, but she would never get any compliments from the demon. He would only force knowledge into her brain, regardless of whether she had actually learned it or not, and then he would ask her if she memorized it without bothering to verify the authenticity of her answer.

"No, you have natural talent. I'm afraid that I didn't teach well, and it affected your study." Dubian smiled and shook his head; his brown eyes filled with a gentle smile, "I also want to thank you for believing in me and helping me."

Anna smiled: "We are helping each other, so let’s not be so courteous anymore."

Dubian looked at Anna's beautiful smile in the moonlight. He nodded and smiled: "Okay."

Although Anna had not successfully meditated to feel the natural elements, her curiosity made her want to learn more, so Dubian went along with her and told her the intrinsic properties of each element.

According to the Vatican, the light element represented light, hope, and justice, while the dark element represented darkness, despair, and evil. Light could defeat darkness and justice could drive away evil. This was the original oracle of the Goddess of Light.

But Dubian said that while each natural element did have different intrinsic properties, all elements are equal, and there was no saying that one element was better than another.

"The spells cast by the light element do have a healing effect, but this is because the intrinsic attributes of the light element are speed increasing and burning pain. Because of the speed increasing attribution of the light element, spells like holy healing can speed up the healing of wounds.” Dubian said. “And the intrinsic attributes of the dark element are destruction and dark blessing. The dark element not only has the power to produce destruction, but also the power of protection."

He regretted that his mental power was still disordered and which made him unable to cast spells; otherwise he would like to personally show Anna.

He knew that Anna was not the kind of person who would blindly hate dark elemental mages, but he still wanted to show her with her own eyes that dark elemental mages were not the "fallen mages" that the Vatican deemed them.

As she said, a spell was just a tool; whether it was good or bad depended only on the intent of the user.

"What do you mean by intrinsic attributes?" Anna listened with gusto, and then asked the question.

Dubian patiently said: "Intrinsic attributes are the inherent attributes that distinguish a certain natural element from other elements. The eight natural elements have their own unique attributes, and the magic effects we use are based upon these intrinsic attributes. You use specific magic circuits to induce specific intrinsic attributes.

"In addition to the light and darkness just mentioned, the intrinsic properties of water are flexibility and deadliness; thunder is destruction and entanglement; fire is warm and bursting; wind is gentle and violent; earth is heavy and generous; and gold is sharp and soft. When you become a mage, designing and adjusting the magic circuit is inseparable from the skilled application of intrinsic attributes."

Speaking of this, Dubian remembered the days and nights when he designed a magic circuit for the first time, but it was always inexplicably unable to function normally. He added: "You are more talented than me, so your experience shouldn't be as painful as mine.”

Although she was still a weakling who couldn’t feel any natural elements, Anna listened very carefully. Knowledge was power. She had mastered the foundation. When she could feel the natural elements and could start practicing, she would definitely get twice the result with half the effort.

So when she heard the emotion in Dubian's voice suddenly, she was stunned and asked, "It's painful to be a mage?"

"Not exactly." Dubian thought for a while before saying, "I still remember the excitement of successfully casting a spell for the first time. And the moment when the magic circuit I designed by myself was successfully operated, I even want to thank the goddess, even if she doesn't exist. It's just that every time the magic circuit is unresponsive or even backlashes after adjustment, I want to give up."

Anna listened for a while, and felt that this was a familiar feeling.

Why did designing a magic circuit sound like programming? She had taken a programming class in college. That kind of experience...it was best not to talk about it. When the program ran into a bug, she didn’t know where it went wrong. After it was repaired here and there and the program ran effectively, she also didn’t know where she had done right.

Although she got pretty good grades in the first course, she still remembered that feeling.

Hopefully, she wouldn’t be giving up before even getting started...

Now that the topic of designing magic circuits was mentioned, Dubian elaborated more on what he had learned before from his teacher.

In the process of advancing to the next level, the mage will learn a few standard magic circuits; those are universal, but they won’t suit every mage perfectly. The standard spell circuits leave room for fine-tuning, so after mastering the standard spell circuits, mages will fine-tune them.

Of course, there were always some talented people who were a little lazy or not that strong, and would directly use the standard spell circuit as it is, but the effect was not much different.

As for creating one’s own magic circuit, that was another matter. Generally, one would have to become a three star mage before doing so.
