I Can Save Him (4)

Anna took the holy water and went straight to Pomegranate Lane. She avoided the crowd and slipped into the ruins.

During the day, Dubian always hid in a position farther inside. In order to recover as soon as possible, he would meditate throughout the day. When he heard the movement outside, he instantly came out of meditation.

Then, he heard Anna whisper, "Dubian, it's me."

This was the first time Anna had come during the day. Dubian knew that she was working as a maid in the earl estate and that she had no time to come during the day. He went out quickly and asked with concern: "Anna, what's the matter?"

As soon as he finished asking, a glass bottle was stuffed into his hands. Anna asked eagerly: "Is this holy water really useful?"

Even if Anna was dissatisfied with Pastor Arthur's perfunctory attitude, what if? What if the holy water was actually useful?

Dubian picked up the holy water and looked at it. He knew it was from the church.

"This is just ordinary water," Dubian said. "Normally, a little sugar is added."

Therefore, people who had drunk the holy water would say that the holy water had a slight sweet taste, and after drinking the holy water, it would indeed feel good. On the one hand, it was because in this era of material scarcity, common people simply couldn’t afford to eat sugar, so the physical pleasure that sugar brought to them would feel more intense than those in modern times who ate sugar more frequently. On the other hand, it was the placebo effect of holy water.

Anna said disappointedly: "Sure enough, it's just sugar water."

Dubian and Anna often chatted, so knowing that little Evan was sick, he asked, "Did you go to the church to find the pastor?"

Although he was being chased down by the Vatican, Dubian would not belittle the healing power of the priest.

"I did. They said it was up to the goddess’ arrangement, and I was only given this." Anna said weakly. She took back the glass bottle and smiled at Dubian. "Don't worry, I will definitely save little Evan. Do you know the magic circuit of the holy healing spell?"

Dubian looked at Anna and couldn't bear to say, "I know it...but no matter how talented you are, you can't learn it in just a few days."

After he finished speaking, he drew the magic circuit of the holy healing spell on the ground, probably afraid that Anna would not believe him.

This was a complex circuit made up of dozens of basic spell circuits. It required at least a few years of studying and the identity of a one star priest in order to use it skillfully. Anna, a disciple, wanting to learn it in a few days was wishful thinking.

Anna left the ruins with a heavy heart. When she returned home, she gave the holy water to Gaea. So be it if it was sugar water. At least it might have a placebo effect.

For a moment, it was like Gaea had seen hope, and she quickly fed the holy water to little Evan. With a little happiness and hopefulness on her face, she said, "The goddess will definitely bless little Evan; he will get better soon."

Anna saw that Evan was short of breath; her heart was not as optimistic as Gaea.

She had a last resort.

Anna said, "Mama, I only took a short half-day leave. It's time for me to go back to the earl estate.”

Gaea nodded and said, "You go on. Don't worry, there’s still me here, and little Evan just drank the holy water. He will get better soon."

Anna smiled reluctantly and turned to leave.

The road to the earl estate seemed longer than ever.

She had seen the demon use holy healing to heal wounds, and she knew that the demon could save little Evan.

However, the demon having the ability to heal was one thing, him being willing was another story.

She didn’t know what she would face, but she still had to try.

Back at the earl estate, Anna went to Rebecca to report that her leave was over, and then left for  the small building where the Holy Son lived.

The demon leaned on the bed, which faced the window. His profile was delicate and charming. Hearing some movement, he turned his head and looked over.

Anna walked over slowly. She heard the demon ask: "You asked for a leave in the morning?"

She lowered her head and said, "Yes, my brother is very ill. I went to the church to ask for holy water for him."

Rothgarr snorted, and what he said was completely inconsistent with his current identity as the Holy Son: "What's the use for that kind of thing?"

Anna nervously took a deep breath. Just as she wanted to pretend to discuss the magical effect of holy water with him, she heard him say very casually: "Bring him here, I can save him."

Anna suddenly raised her head to look at him, waiting for him to bring up the same condition that had made him change bodies several times.

But Rothgarr frowned: "Unless you want me to go to your house in person?"

Anna shook her head quickly, with an excited smile on her face: "No, please wait a moment, esteemed Holy Son, I will bring him here right away!"

She lifted her feet and walked away, but when she walked to the door, she couldn't help but turn her head, and praised sincerely: "Esteemed Holy Son, you are truly a good person." At least at this moment, he was.

Then she ran out happily.
