Chapter 41.1: Men Are Easily Fooled (1)

As formidable as Li Xiaoxing was, Ji Fanyin was also skilled at dealing with tough situations herself.

After a symbolistic handshake of cooperation, Li Xiaoxing said, “I’ve already dealt with Cen Xiangyang. He won’t contact you again.”

His tone sounded almost like an official notice coming down from a higher-up in a company.

Ji Fanyin thought about it for a moment before asking, “How do you intend to make up for my losses?”

“I know your fee structure,” said Li Xiaoxing, “I’ll double the prices, from the lowest to the highest.”

“That’ll do,” Ji Fanyin agreed.

I lost one client but gained another one that can make up for two. Great.

“This deal depends on you delivering what you have promised,” added Li Xiaoxing.

“No problem.” Ji Fanyin glanced at her watch and said, “It just so happens that I haven’t had dinner yet. Mr Li?”

Li Xiaoxing looked at her.

It was honestly hard to read his expression, but Ji Fanyin had played far too many roles in her previous life—during which, she had to understand how the brain wirings of those characters worked—and that allowed her to figure out after two seconds that it was an expression of doubt.

“We can begin the lessons tonight,” she explained.

Li Xiaoxing fell silent. He straightened up his body and lowered the divider.

“Mr Li?” the secretary asked.

“Reserve two seats for dinner,” ordered Li Xiaoxing.

“Understood.”

“Transfer 400,000 dollars into her account,” he added.

The secretary was visibly astonished for a moment before he propped up his glasses and replied, “Understood.”

Ji Fanyin was happy that she got to freeload a meal once again.

The first thing she did after receiving her double wages was to refund Cen Xiangyang’s 200,000 dollars. At the same time, she asked half-jokingly, “Will Director Cen come after me for this?”

“That’s your problem,” replied Li Xiaoxing coldly.

Ji Fanyin’s eyebrows shot up. “If I’m not mistaken, isn’t it due to Mr Li’s intervention that I’ve offended Director Cen?”

“Then you shouldn’t have chosen to dabble in such high-risk ‘work’.”

Ji Fanyin thought that there was some sense to what he was saying.

If Cen Xiangyang contacts me once more… I guess it wouldn’t be too bad to continue our transaction. He’s already on the hook anyway, so it’ll be easier to deal with him.

Cen Xiangyang was a dangerous person, but there were ways to deal with him. Ji Xinxin simply got complacent on her successes and underestimated the enemy, resulting in her flopping in that kidnapping incident.

Fish No.4, on the other hand, was very different from the other fishes in the fishery.

There was no need for Ji Fanyin to put on an act in front of him, or to be more exact, she couldn’t be bothered to even put on an act. After confirming their partnership, she passed her questionnaire to him and said, “Mr Li should also be familiar with what this is, right? I’ll need you to fill it up.”

Li Xiaoxing didn’t even bother looking at it.

Instead, it was the secretary in the passenger seat who passed Ji Fanyin a name card and said, “Miss Ji, please send the details to my email instead.”

Ji Fanyin took the secretary's name card. She quickly sent out the email and added the secretary’s WeChat account. “I’ll contact Secretary Fan if I have anything then.”

It looked like Li Xiaoxing wasn’t the type to be bothered with day-to-day trivialities. He was probably the kind who had to ask his secretary in order to find his own socks.

Secretary Fan first checked on the email before whipping out a notebook computer out of nowhere and laboriously turning around to place it into Li Xiaoxing’s hands.

Li Xiaoxing passed the folder filled with documents he had browsed through earlier into Secretary Fan’s hands before placing the notebook computer on his lap. He did a quick look through the questionnaire as he asked, “So this is your questionnaire?”

“It’s simple but effective.” Ji Fanyin leisurely rested on the leather seat and began browsing through Weibo to pass time.
