White messages soon popped out in the chat window.

Chen Yunsheng had a habit. He would only send one message at a time when he was in control of himself, but whenever his emotions got the better of him, be it positive or negative, he would start sending multiple messages at once.

【If big sis is meeting Bai Zhou privately but only considers him as an acquaintance, how close are the two of us then?】
【Am I at least a little closer to you than Bai Zhou is?】
【Does that mean that I can ask you out too?】

Ji Fanyin raised her eyebrows in surprise.

She didn’t respond right away. Instead, she stared at the three consecutive messages Chen Yunsheng had sent for a moment before she started chuckling to herself. The smile lingered on her lips for quite a while before she finally responded to him: 【I’ve never said that you can’t ask me out】

Ji Fanyin was typing a total of two messages. While she was on her second message, the chat window reflected that ‘The other party is in the midst of typing…’

She belatedly finished up the second message and sent it over: 【But I might not necessarily agree to it】

A split second later, the other party sent an incomplete 【Rea】, but it was hurriedly retracted the next instant.

His hand must have slipped, Ji Fanyin thought amusedly.

Her cab was already arriving at her destination by then, so she switched her phone to ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode and slipped it into her bag. Then, she looked out of the window and assessed the neighborhood.

It was an upscale residential district, so the security was quite impressive, though the same could be said about the housing prices too. It didn’t seem like a bad idea to move here since the conditions were pretty good.

The only problem is that…

Ji Fanyin turned her eyes toward the young man leaning on his motorcycle not too far away.

… I might end up frequently bumping into Bai Zhou. That would be a terrible inconvenience to me.

Ji Fanyin had the driver halt the car, and she sat quietly in the cab for a moment to look at Bai Zhou.

She had to admit that he was quite a good fit with his motorcycle. It enhanced his ‘hot-tempered delinquent’ vibe.

This was not the first time she was seeing him leaning against his motorcycle, taking a puff. There would always be a vexed expression on his face whenever he smoked, as if he would hop onto his motorcycle the next moment and go on a rampage.

When she finally opened the door and alighted from the car, it was six minutes to 6 o’clock.

Bai Zhou initially didn’t notice the car, but he heard the opening of the car doors, which prompted him to turn his gaze over. His face was momentarily colored in surprise before his gaze turned aggressive. “What’s with that look on your face?”

“What look?” Ji Fanyin adjusted her hair as she asked lazily.

“It’s as if you’re looking at a kid!” roared Bai Zhou. “Where’s the person who took you to the cinema? Shouldn’t he at least be gentlemanly enough to escort you to another man’s house?”

By then, the cab behind her had already driven off.

“I hope that you can stop harassing my friend.” Ji Fanyin slipped her hands into her pockets before properly facing the infuriated Bai Zhou. “You’re infringing on my personal life. The next time something like that happens once more, I’ll have to consider removing you from my client list.”

Even though Fish No.2 promises huge returns, I should still prioritize my own safety over money.

Ji Fanyin hadn’t forgotten that these fishes were capable of becoming piranhas.

Even though Song Shiyu was the mastermind behind ‘Ji Fanyin’s’ kidnapping in the now divergent future, Bai Zhou had also dropped by from time to time to have his fun after learning about it.

“Removing?” Bai Zhou’s body immediately straightened up from his motorcycle. “You want to break up?”

Ji Fanyin looked at him with raised eyebrows before giggling softly. With a hint of amusement in her tone, she asked, “Bai Zhou, do you think that we’re dating?”

“… Fuck! I didn’t mean ‘break up’. I’m asking you if you’re intending to terminate our business relationship!” Bai Zhou corrected his terminology with gritted teeth. “Ji Fanyin, you should get it clear in your head who’s the client here!”

To that, Ji Fanyin casually replied, “You’re the client, but I reserve the right not to take your business.”

Bai Zhou was rendered speechless for a moment before he scoffed in disdain, “That Chen fellow must have complained to you, huh? What do you think he’ll think of you if I inform him about the dealings between us? How would you explain it to him?”

Ji Fanyin tilted her head in confusion and asked, “Explain what?”

Bai Zhou was stunned.

“Explain why I’m doing this job? There’s no need for that,” replied Ji Fanyin impassively. “If he can’t accept my occupation, there’s no need for us to remain friends. It’s as simple as that. Bai Zhou, do I look like someone who lacks friends?”

Bai Zhou: “…”

He pressed his lips together, seemingly hesitating whether he should squeeze out the word ‘Yes’. However, he knew how childish he would look if he insisted on winning this argument just for the sake of it.

Ji Fanyin glanced at the time and saw that it was approaching six, but there was no need for her to start work early. So, with her hands inserted in her pockets, she casually stabbed a dagger into Bai Zhou’s heart. “I should also inform you that I have no lack of clients.”
