【Hey, maybe you can go and try to do it too, go save someone’s life and do something good. Oh, wait, I forgot. Your IQ is so low, I doubt you even know what 1 + 1 equals to. You can’t do anything.】

【Seriously, if you’ve got nothing better to do, just hang over there at the dung pile】

【The main point is, people notice this issue because of Bai Qi, it doesn’t matter whether he was acting or not. If y’all are so great, why didn’t anyone bother to find out what was happening behind-the-scenes】

The kind-hearted netizens quickly came to their defense.

They were uncontrollable, some couldn’t help but want to get past the Chinese firewall and let foreign friends know about how shameless that thief was.

As Liu Zhi posted her on Weibo, the publisher of the book, ‘Dagger-axe’, also made a statement to the public.

@OrientalLiteratureandArtPublishingHouse: Thank you Mr. Bai @onthewaytokillmonsters7 for the free advertisement of the book.

Attached was a screenshot of the sales volume of a random Taobao seller: 130299. The inventory for the book was instantly emptied.

【… this is insane】

【This is comparable to the sales you’d get if you were to sell during live streams right?】

【Actually, no. Person upstairs, go do a quick sum of the total sales over all platforms. The sales volume might be even more of that you’d get while selling through live streaming 】

The sales of ‘Dagger-axe’ skyrocketed after the release of the first episode.

One should note that most people weren’t interested in historical science books like this. The reason why publishers allow the publishing of these books is, first, to leave some historical textbooks for future generations, and second, to make use of the country’s support policies on the printing of this genre of books.

In the first place, authors of such books are usually well-respected individuals and have a good reputation within the community. As for the actual sales of these books… some couldn’t even earn enough to feed themselves. So, the production of such books is supported entirely by the government’s support policies.

Most of these authors were well-respected in their own fields in the first place, thus, none of them ended up financially worse off.

The current situation was the dream of all publishers and booksellers!

They could achieve the purpose of educating people, obtain the approval of the masses and clear their inventory.

【‘The Perfectly Wedded Pair’ is truly popular. Look, just a mention and it secured a spot in Hot Search.】

【To be fair, Xi Chengyun is the one who is too popular. When the show first aired, the viewership was only 2.0, but during the snow racing scene, it rose to 13.7. This number literally equals to the accumulated annual goal of some other local stations】

【So… the latest way to get famous is for Bai Qi to mention you???】

【F*ck! Upstairs, your ideas are chef’s kiss!】

【Did Bai Qi ever expect himself to have such a powerful effect… 】

“Not to mention Bai Qi, even we never expected this,” the director noted emotionally.

The producer on the other hand sat on his spot steadily. “What’s the rush? After the airing of the first episode, do you think there would be only a few advertisers?”

A professional in the film industry could easily tell that the amount wouldn’t be small at all.

By then, they’d perhaps even be fighting over who should be given credit for it.

Someone from the program team couldn’t help but mutter, “Like, wtf, how lucky are we? We ran into such a huge God during the planning stage of our first season.”

The director smacked his lips. “True, it really is a coincidence. I think Xi-laoshi just so happened to need a way to announce his marriage to the public, dispelling any unnecessary rumors. Xi-laoshi likely would agree to any other show that might’ve invited him.”

“Well, the opportunity is ours. So we’ll be the ones getting rich, right?”

“True.”

“To begin with, it’s not only Xi-laoshi’s popularity, Bai Qi himself is a very sensational topic. Xi-laoshi really found a treasure! When they’re together… well, the effects are mind-blowing.”

The program team became more excited as the conversation flowed. They were tempted to hold a celebration banquet right then and there.

The entire internet was discussing the show. The crew was planning to head to their next filming location.

“We have too many fans, so we’ll be renting out the entire high-speed rail,” the program team stated.

“Splendid!” Yang Yiru complimented. Subsequently, everyone carried on packing.

The second stop was a place in the countryside; it was for them to experience the simple ways of life.

“How much longer is this ride? This is torture,” Zhou Yangfeng couldn’t help but frown. Although the rest didn’t voice out their opinion, they shared the same sentiments.

When they were on the train, Bai Qi called everyone over for a card game.

He opened his luggage bag and took out a heap of different board games; there was airplane chess*, Gomoku*, Legends of the Three Kingdoms* (LTK), poker, …

*Airplane chess (飞行棋) is a Chinese cross-and-circle board game similar to the Western game of Ludo and the Indian game of Pachisi.

*Gomoku (五子棋), also known as Five in a Row, is an abstract strategy board game. It is traditionally played with Go pieces on a Go board.

*Legends of the Three Kingdoms (三国杀) is a Chinese card game based on the Three Kingdoms period of China and the semi-fictional 14th century novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong.

When Yang Yiru saw all the card games laid out in front of her, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “What on earth do you have stuffed in your luggage bag? No wonder Qiu Sichuan mentioned that y’all were playing card games for the entire afternoon yesterday.”

The luggage bags of the other guests were mostly filled with food and things to wear. One, they were afraid that they wouldn’t have food to eat, and second, they were celebrities, so it was normal for them to have a new outfit a day.

“Games, hehe,” Bai Qi answered.

Everyone was overwhelmed by work, from recording programs to filming for announcements; however, none of them dared to loosen up.

So, this was a rare chance for them to relax for a bit.
