Huli jing (1)

Papa Bai didn’t get to talk much with Lady Su.

It was near the end of the year, and Su Meixian was very busy. Papa Bai was also rushing to finish his project before year-end, so he was very busy as well.

Just then, Papa Bai vaguely heard his colleague calling his name.

Papa Bai got off the phone, but he still didn’t want to let go of it.

He raised his head to look at the TV again. He started to mutter to himself, asking, “Am I mistaken, or am I right?”

The scene changed again. This time, a familiar face appeared on the TV.

Papa Bai watched as his son walked through the snowy grounds with an umbrella in hand, then ran directly into the arms of another person.

Wait, are boys so touchy with each other these days? Is that how friendships work now?

Before Papa Bai could process all his thoughts, he overheard the person next to him saying,

“Seriously, celebrities these days are just… Two men got married, and they even have to show it off in a variety show. How shameless are they?”

“Huh?” Papa Bai was confused.

“Lao-Bai, is Lao-Bai here? President Peng is asking for you!”

Despite hearing that, Papa Bai remained where he was. He looked up, adjusted his glasses, and started to study the video being played on the screen. This was a temporary cafeteria, and the TV was actually an older model, and thus slightly smaller.

Finally… He spotted a row of words at the bottom left corner of the screen.

The Perfectly… Wedded… Pair?

What on earth is this?

Papa Bai’s brain rumbled as if it were being run over by a line of cars. He turned around and stared at the person next to him angrily, “Shut the hell up you asshole. Don’t go pointing fingers and talking about others all day long!”

That person had never seen an angry Papa Bai and was shocked.

“Why are you so anxious? It’s not like that’s your son.”

Papa Bai was wearing a pair of glasses, and he didn’t look fierce at all; he even looked a little bit like a scholarly man. The other person was about to fold up his sleeves and give Papa Bai a piece of his mind, but Papa Bai beat him to it. Papa Bai stared at the screen for a few seconds, then gave out a sarcastic laugh. He turned around and fiercely said, “I’m going to f*cking break his legs!”

That person was dumbfounded. His resolve weakened under the fumes of anger that Papa Bai released.

“Nevermind…” he said dully.

It does seem like Mr. Bai has some sort of relationship with President Peng… Ah, nevermind, forget it, I can’t afford it.

Papa Bai was fuming as he walked out. Surprisingly, he started to calm down under the brilliant sunlight.

Where could he go to find that man?

He should be a mega-celebrity, right? Papa Bai seemed to recall watching movies of this person… He’s called Xi, Xi… Ah, f*ck it!

Papa Bai gave another call to his wife.

Su Meixian didn’t pick up the call, but it seemed like she knew what he was going to ask. Thus, she sent a message over to him:

【Don’t tell anyone, and don’t cause trouble. Our son is out there under the scrutiny of many. Let’s wait until he comes back home】

Papa Bai had no choice but to suppress his boiling anger.

He squatted down on the walkway, full of frustration and exasperation. He seemed like an abducted kid.

He took out his phone and opened the Calendar app. He started counting back and forth between the dates.

The New Year... He’ll definitely be back during the New Year...

Papa Bai gave a forceful squeeze on his phone, then transferred 5000 Yuan into Bai Qi’s bank account. Subsequently, he followed the person who came to call for him and headed to President Peng’s office.

You need to have money when you’re out there alone, Papa Bai thought.

Celebrities must be very rich. In comparison to what that celebrity has, he didn’t know how the mere 5,000 Yuan could be of any use to his son. The amount was so small that it was unlikely for the celebrity to pick it up even if he dropped it on the floor… but Papa Bai had to let Qi Qi have some face.

Papa Bai let out a soft sigh.

… Back then, he could’ve easily transferred 50,000, wait no, 500,000, to Bai Qi.

No one knew the sorrows of this silly dad.

Bai Qi was stunned when he saw the incoming transfer notification. He sent a 【?】 to his dad, but his dad ignored him.

“Are we there yet? We are, right?” Yang Yiru asked as she yawned.

The program team nodded. They took away everyone’s phones and wallets, leaving each of them with only 50 Yuan.

Then, the program team notified them about their latest decision. “We have something to tell y’all. We’ve taken note of the feedback we’ve received from the first episode and decided that we would be changing our broadcasting method to a live broadcast. We’ll edit the video after the live broadcast and send it to the TV station. The contract term stated that there may be flexible changes to the show. Does anyone have any objections?”

“Nope,” Yang Yiru immediately replied.

The rest of them contemplated for a moment before agreeing.
