On the other end, Bai Qi was back at his dorm. He took a bath and changed into a pair of fluffy pajamas.
It was from his mom.
Two rabbit ears were attached to the top of it.
“Qi Qi, where did you go?” his roommate asked.
“I sold myself.”
“How much did you sell yourself for? 3 bucks or 5 bucks? How about selling yourself to me? Qi-gege, come practice oral speaking with me ~,” his roommate shouted.
Bai Qi took out his laptop.
“You’re gaming? Go ahead, go ahead. Let’s discuss this business of ours tomorrow.” His roommate stopped disturbing him when he saw this.
However, Bai Qi didn’t log onto a gaming site after he turned on his laptop. Instead, he headed to Bilibili and searched for「Xi Chengyun」. Out came tons of videos.
Opening up the bullet screen, he started absorbing all the terms used by the fans.
That was not all. He also opened up Wikipedia and searched for all the projects Xi Chengyun had worked on ever since his debut. Then, he made a masterlist of everything, including advertisements and MVs.
He circled a few dates on his calendar, noting down a schedule to cram all the information available about ‘Xi Chengyun’ into his mind.
Bai Qi immersed himself in Xi Chengyun’s projects for seven days straight, all the way till the sky was dark.
He had watched movies and dramas that Xi Chengyun starred in before. However, he wasn’t an actual stan, so he only took a look at them once in a while. Now, it was clearly different…
When Bai Qi left campus on Saturday, even the watermelon at the fruit stall looked like Xi Chengyun’s face.
“Ah, earning money isn’t easy…gurk…” Bai Qi burped as he drank his milk tea.
For the next seven days, Xi Chengyun had been so busy that it was as if he had forgotten the existence of Bai Qi. Shang Guang hadn’t contacted him either.
Instead, Bai Qi was the one who would occasionally take note of Xi Chengyun’s recent activities. He did this by looking at Xi Chengyun’s ‘supertopic’ page on Weibo.
Bai Qi took two steps forward. The nearby fried chicken stall caught his eye.
Just then, two juniors walked past him. Both girls were in a heated discussion.
“Holy shit, is it true? Ahhhh. I cannot take it anymore, is he really coming?”
“It’s circulating like crazy within the fandom. Hurry up, I need to take a bath and wash my hair, plus do my makeup too.”
“There’s no news from the university though?”
“Of course they’ll keep it private. This is Xi-laoshi* we’re talking about…”
*laoshi (老师) lit. means teacher; also used as an honorific title for respected people in their field
Bai Qi listened for a while and could roughly get it.
Xi Chengyun is coming to our university?
For what? An event?
Bai Qi was still in his thoughts when he noticed that the fried chicken stall was about to close. He couldn’t care less about Xi Chengyun as he sprinted over. “Wait jiejie, fried chicken, I want to buy fried chicken…”
Bai Qi was in pure bliss as he ate his fried chicken. Even the fact that Jiang Fangcheng made him ‘wear a green hat’* didn’t feel as disgusting anymore.
*To make a person wear a green hat (戴绿帽) is to cheat on that person
He continued to munch on the crunchy chicken skin as he whipped out his phone. He opened Xi Fangcheng’s ‘supertopic’ page on Weibo.
Now, there seemed to be some activity.

【Guess so. It seems like the Association of Prestigious Universities organized a public welfare event, ‘New Youth’. Most likely, Xi-ge is there to attend their talk】
Bai Qi blinked lightly. He wiped his hands, sucked the last pearl in his bubble tea, and headed on his way back to campus.
The atmosphere on campus was immediately different. Ribbon lanterns were hung all around the place as if it was Chinese New Year.
As he continued to walk, he passed a small square. A crowd was gathered around a huge cut-out human-sized cardboard. Luckily, Bai Qi was not short. When he glanced over, he managed to see the head of the cut-out —— it is Xi Chengyun.
The cut-out was about to go “bald” due to all the touching by his fans.
