Title: A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse
Translator: Little Bamboo Spirit

Chapter 32 - Out-of-place (2)

The two prisoners looked at each other. They lowered their heads and didn't say anything. Although they didn't abandon their injured companion, neither of them wanted to leave after finding a safe space. They had been chased all the way here by zombies and only narrowly escaped.

The zombies at night were too terrifying. They wanted to stay here tonight before making plans.

Lu Xingchi understood what their silence meant. He gestured for Bei Nuan to open the metal shutter door and stretched out his arm to support the injured prisoner up.

Du Ruo idly walked over and supported the injured man on the other side. He didn't forget to pick up the half-eaten bag of potato chips with his free hand. Before leaving, he waved at them. "Grandpa is leaving, bye."

After they left, the metal shutter door closed with a slam and was locked.

Outside, the moonlight looked liquid, and the night breeze was cool. For the time being, new zombies hadn't come over. Other than the moon that looked strangely big and round, tonight didn't look any different from any other night.

Lu Xingchi started to settle accounts. "Bei Nuan, you opened the metal shutter door without permission. Isn't that violating…"

Before he finished speaking, Bei Nuan refuted, "You did give me permission. I saw that you guys wanted to open the door, but they were stopping you. It was only then that I snuck over to help you open the door."

Du Ruo chimed in, "What she said is totally right."

Indeed, there was nothing wrong with what she said. Lu Xingchi glanced at Bei Nuan and didn't hassle her anymore.

The three walked forward with the injured man between them.

Bei Nuan recalled the plot of the original novel. Here was another chance to increase her Holy Mother value again.

In the novel, Lu Xingchi hadn't wanted to take along such a burden. He planned on finding a secluded place and leaving the injured man there. Whether he lived or died after that was up to fate.

However, the novel's Bei Nuan couldn't bear to leave the man behind. She cried and pleaded. In the end, Du Ruo sided with Bei Nuan and that was how they continued to bring along the injured man.

Who would have thought that after the injured man recovered, he would be the strongest person in the team after Lu Xingchi?

Bei Nuan cleared her throat. “Lu Xingchi, he looks so pitiful. How about we just take him along?"

Lu Xingchi lightly said, "Alright."

Huh? What happened to having to cry and going through multiple rounds of back and forth before he would agree? Without that, how can she act like a Holy Mother and get more points? How could he so easily agree?

Laughter sounded. Bei Nuan glanced at her bar. Since he had so readily agreed, her Holy Mother value had only gone up a little bit.

Her chance at reaping a big chunk of Holy Mother points had flown away like an almost caught bird. Bei Nuan was heartbroken.

Lu Xingchi looked back and saw Bei Nuan's expression. "I said okay and you're unhappy?"

"No, of course not. I'm very happy!" Bei Nuan grabbed the bag of chips from Du Ruo, angrily put a chip in her mouth, and crunched down.

They walked down the roadbed along the path of the collapsed metal bridge. In the book, this was where they got off the roadbed to continue on.

Standing on the towering roadbed, Bei Nuan couldn't resist turning her head back to look. With the light of the moon, she saw that the metal shutter door had opened again in the distance. The men that had been guarding the door earlier were holding knives and rolling pins and pushing the two prisoners outside.

Along the main road, not too far away from the restaurant, a few zombies happened to walk by. Seeing the people standing at the restaurant's entrance, they rushed over as if they had seen a sumptuous feast.
