Chapter 44

The sound of sonic boom resounded inside a dungeon in the 19th floor, which is prairie themed. Flowers that has jagged teeth screeched at Shiro, only for them to be felled by the burning .

The walking trees, also known as treants, tried to bind him with their branches. However, the space suddenly turned gray as thin white lines started appearing like a grid.

In this state, the treants had their time slowed down while Shiro retained his normal flow of time.

Slash-!

Swooosh-!

Dozens of wood branches were cut as he activated , tracing a cut similar to a square on the bodies of several treants. After this, their time went back to normal. More than half of the treants instantly turned into blue lights due to the huge damage that they had received.

By this time, his flying dagger targeted them as well, making this a two-pincer attack between Shiro's sword and his dagger.

Five minutes later, he was teleported out of the dungeon after obtaining the rewards in the chest.

"The sixth..." Shiro mumbled as he thought of how troublesome is grinding. "Only a level? Well, this makes grinding more fulfilling anyways..."

The average level of the monsters in this dungeon are between 28~30, which is just right for him. As to why he didn't higher-levelled dungeons?

The cost-efficiency ratio just doesn't match up. He kills mobs much quicker if he does, plus the fact that its quantity compensates on its Exp gain made it much efficient than the dungeons on higher floors.

Of course, he also explores the higher floors, hoping that he might find some kind of hidden dungeons/quests. In fact, he'd already found around dozens of them. He gave some to his guildmates while he did the others by himself.

"Ah?"

Shiro saw a new message being posted on their Chat Group panel.

Kuroneko: Shiro, did you already open your [Guaranteed Ticket]?

Shiro: [Guaranteed Ticket]? No, not yet.

The [Guaranteed Ticket] is the beginner privileges that they received upon joining the Chat Group. Simply put, it grants a free 10x Random pull. It gives the member a minimum of SSR item, and the items that they will receive are those that they will need.

Kuroneko: That's it! Can you come to that tavern in the 1st floor later?

Shiro: Sure.

"Uhm... I didn't expect that more would be here." Shiro spoke after seeing that there are an additional 3 people besides her, all wearing their casual clothing from their worlds. Touka is the first one to break this silence.

"Etto... We didn't expect this too, Shiro-san."

"I didn't expect this too..." Kuroneko started explaining what had transpired after she messaged him. "I planned to meet you because of something..."

Turns out, this thing got passed on to other members once Touka asked them about this. Since Kuroneko was 'slightly' influenced by this online friend of hers, she tried playing Grand Order once, but she stopped playing due to her abysmal luck.

She continued explaining like a true gacha addict until the end.

"Shiro-aniki, I might get something that you need. I didn't really feel confident pulling it alone since I'll summon that Lancer in the future." Shinji replied as he thought of his luck. If that Lancer has an E-Rank Luck, his might not be far from him...

"Alright. What about you, Asada-san?"

"Me? Well, I've heard that it's better if I use it if you're here." Shino explained as she took out a glowing golden ticket and tore it suddenly. The results of her spin were presented in her eyes.

"Woah, it really worked..."

Her eyes widened as she saw one of the items that she received, [Annihilate Ray (UR)]. It uses the authority of the sun to turn its enemies into ashes. Coincidentally, this is her weapon in the light novel.

The moment she got it, she delegated it to the free ability slot in the [Synchronization] tab, allowing her to bring it out in this world/game.

"W-what did you get?" Kuroneko asked eagerly to the girl besides her.

"It's an UR item called [Annihilation Ray]."

This time, she felt the familiar sensation called jealousy. Kuroneko was hit by her previous memories of playing Fate Grand Order. 'Months of saving as a F2P, but there's no Castoria..!'

What's more, her friend got Castoria in under 20 pulls, making her cry until there's no tears left. When she saw the familiar [Random Spins], she knew that her past would haunt her once more, but she couldn't do anything about it.

Heck, even her Queen of Darkness persona can't do anything regarding this aspect.

Seeing this, Shiro felt bad and decided against teasing her. This would be an important event in her life after all--he knows how big of a help an SSR item is.

It has the potential to turn someone into a god!

Furthermore, he doesn't want to see her depressed again. During their first meeting, he saw right through her. Someone like that could've only experienced a painful experience that they wouldn't forget easily.

That's why he played along with Touka, trying his best to at least help her out of it. After all, he chatted and met with the Chat Group members at a daily basis, so it's not that surprising that Shiro held some kind of attachments to them.

"Yoshi, yoshi..." He patted her head with his right hand as he took out his [Concealment Mask] with his left. "It can increase your luck by a small margin. You can borrow it."

"...With this, I can finally break this curse!" She took out her own [Guaranteed Ticket] while a blush appeared on her face. She mumbled lowly, "Thank you."

Shiro only smiled at her, hoping that she could get something good out of it. Kuroneko placed the mask on her face and it attached by itself. With all things set, she tore the shiny golden ticket in her hands.

A/N: The world has been swallowed by darkness. I poured every single SQ that I have (that amounted to 110+ pulls) yet all I got are 8 5* CEs and 2 4* servants. I've lost all hope...

Anyways, the Kuroneko in my fic is the post-anime one. Meaning, she experienced that depressing scene (Kuroneko's last meeting with Kyousuke). I got stumped when I was writing this chapter, so I decided to rewatch the thing again. In the end, I still cried at the exact same scene, at the exact same line (When she began cursing the world). In this novel, the curse that she was referring to is her bad gacha luck, but I made it so that it also serves as a callback to that scene. Seriously, that made me want to punch Kyousuke again...

Fact #4: In Terra, people use Arts by manipulating physics through a catalyst--an originum embedded on a staff, gun, sword, etc. Simply put, people can't use Arts like how they use magic on Fate as they're dependent on an "arts core". However, the infected (people with oripathy) can do so without a catalyst since there's already a good amount of originum on their body. Though, using it like that would also worsen their oripathy.

Happy reading~!
