134 Ch. 134 I Will Follow You Wherever You Go

“Xia Xia, do you remember what your parents were like?” Richard asked gently and carefully. He knew Anxia wanted to find her dead or alive mother. They hadn’t mentioned the girl’s mother in the last few days, so Richard was worried that his wife would become depressed again thinking about it. Fortunately, his worries didn’t occur because Anxia answered him in an even and relaxed tone.

“I don’t really remember them. But I remember my mother loved me dearly, and I loved her very much. My dad would take us to the beach and teach me to kite every weekend.”

Anxia shifted and lifted her legs in an oblique position and lifted her buttocks to sit on Richard’s left thigh. Her hands wrapped around her husband’s neck, and both faced each other looking into their partner’s eyes.

“I never remember my childhood with my parents, but when you taught Lori to kite on the island, I remember the moment my dad taught me to kite. You said the same thing as my dad, not to touch the kite string, and it made me very happy.”

“Is that so?”

“Even though it’s only small, I was glad I could remember sweet moments with my family. Unfortunately, I still couldn’t remember my sweet moments with my mother.”

“One day, you will remember. Maybe when you meet your mother again, you will immediately remember everything.”

It seemed impossible for Anxia to remember her childhood; she was only five when she was orphaned. The sweet and beautiful memories with her family were tainted by the cruel scene where Master Yu killed two people right before her eyes.

The grisly training and punishments when she could not carry out her duties clog her brain so that she no longer recalled that her previous life was beautiful. Anxia has been filled with violence, vengeance, and deep hatred without regard for human life.

.....

That’s why she didn’t appreciate Lori in her early pregnancy. She hated her fetus and had done several ways to abort it. But miraculously, that all changed once, she had Lori. Anxia never thought that one day she would love her daughter so much and be willing to do anything to protect her daughter.

At that time, Anxia still had a grudge and thought of postponing her revenge plan until Lori grew up. However, her decision changed when Richard destroyed her walls of resistance and confessed his love to her.

Now she is aware of her feelings.

Lori was indeed her oasis. Whenever Anxia felt restless and uncontrollably angry, she would always run to her daughter to find comfort. On the other hand... Richard was her home. For the first time, Anxia felt she no longer needed to move around. She didn’t need to run away and fear that she would be hunted down by Master Yu or anyone who wanted to harm her.

Wherever Richard was, Anxia wished to follow that man. She felt she had come home when she was with her husband.

“Richie, I’ve made up my mind.”

“On what?”

“I will follow you wherever you go.”

Richard was shocked at first, but his already wide smile became wider. “And I will follow you wherever you go.” Richard gently stroked the back of Anxia’s head and then led her to lean on his shoulder.

They chatted back to talking about trivial matters in low voices so as not to wake their daughter. Occasionally both of them will laugh when they talk about funny things. The two of them enjoyed their moments together, and never once did Anxia rebel or avoid being touched by Richard’s touch.

Whether kissing her head, hugging her, or feeling her skin, Anxia didn’t resist. Her attitude toward his touch was in contrast to their early married life. Richard knew that, at this moment, he had made it into his wife’s heart.

The car stopped at Sheylie’s house shortly after, and the two got out of the car together. Slowly and carefully, Richard untied the safety strap that tied his daughter’s sleeping chair and the seat belt that held Lori’s body so she wouldn’t fall from her place.

Very careful not to create too much vibration that might wake his daughter, Richard lifted Lori’s arm and picked her up, and rested her daughter’s head on his shoulder.

Seeing how tenderly Richard treated their little daughter made Anxia feel warm and happy. She felt grateful that Lori had a father like Richard. Anxia didn’t have time to satisfy herself to enjoy her parents’ love. Therefore she felt blessed that what she had never felt before was now being enjoyed by her beloved daughter.

Anxia was too amazed and adoring her husband, while Richard was too focused on not waking their little daughter that they didn’t even realize little Lori had woken up the moment her body was lifted.

Lori was a light sleeper and would wake up from even the slightest movement. But lately, Lori wasn’t too bothered by the slightest move because she was sure she had her mom and dad by her side. Not to mention, a distinctive perfume of her father assaulted her nose, and it made her back to sleep.

Richard used his right hand, holding his daughter, who had fallen back to sleep; his other hand grabbed Anxia and walked into Sheylie’s apartment. They walked into the lift and then out and headed for Sheylie’s apartment door.

Just as Richard was about to open the door, Anxia suddenly stopped his hand and prevented his movement, inviting Richard to raise an eyebrow in confusion.

Anxia put her index finger in front of her mouth as if telling her husband not to make a sound. Then, Anxia took out a knife from her bag slowly, which brought further confusion to Richard.

Is there an intruder inside? Richard should have stepped forward first, not Anxia, who walked in front as if ready to face any ‘enemy’ that was preparing to attack them.

Really, who is the husband, and who is the wife? Why did he feel Anxia was an overprotective husband and insisted on protecting his wife and child from all harm?

Well, what could he do? Lori was in his arms, and he wouldn’t want to risk his daughter’s life by standing in the ‘front line.’
