The first day of the tournament.
It was a traditional event held every year by the two magic schools so the seats in the audience were already filled with spectators. Nem’s match with Tim Lloyd was on the first day, it was rare for the fighters in first place to fight this early but no one really cared.
Above the normal audience were the VIP seats for wealth investors. Among them sat Sabrina and Oswald.
“Your majesty, thank you very much for coming all the way from Dams Arden to support us here today.”
The two of them bowed deeply.
Schneiser Dams Ardan had long wavy gray hair with a matching beard that was connected from top to bottom with sideburns. He was the sitting king of Dams Ardan.
“I am very happy to be able to come this year as well, apparently there will be various things happening this year.”
Schneiser expressed his appreciation for the two of them. He was rumored to be an eccentric king because it was so rare for kings to speak to others as if they were on the same level.
“But still I was surprised to receive the report from the two of you. I never thought that Nito would really be in Halekuwait. Not only that but that he would be participating in the tournament. This must be fate.”
“Fate? What do you mean by that?”
Sabrina asked.
“In truth I’ve send a messenger to invite Nito to Dams Ardan. However, Nito refused.”
“Invite him? I apologize for my rudeness but may I ask the reason? To be honest hes had a lot of problems.”
Schneiser was a little confused but he answered Sabrina’s question.
“It’s not yet public information yet but in the not too distant future Derm’s Kale will wage a large scale war.”
When Sabrina heard that she was at a loss for words as she remembered what Nito had told her before.
“Dams Ardan has decided to try and destroy the empire. That country is too dangerous to let it do as it wants. Of course we will try to adopt the people of the country if possible once emperor Uranus is defeated but we can not be half hearted in the empires destruction. However, we do not have enough strength to accomplish this so I wanted to borrow Nito’s power.”
“Is this world always at war?”
Oswald held his head in his hands as he said this. Meanwhile Sabrina changed the way she thought about Nito. The story she thought was a conspiracy theory spouted from a crazy guy, turned out to actually be true.
“Actually, Nito said the same thing his majesty did. That the empire will go to war soon.”
“Seriously?”
" "Schneiser looked amazed for a moment but he quickly fixed his expression.
“No, Nito has a connection with Razhousen. I believe thats where he got the nickname hero from is it not? As such its only natural that you would know.”
Schneiser was thinking out loud alone while the other two watched on in silence.
“I was able to hear some good things but we shall talk about it later. Sorry for holding you up as you were going around greeting the others in the VIP area.”
Sabrina and Oswald were busy greeting the other investors and realizing this Schneider thanked them again. For this reason he was called eccentric, although to the people of Dams Ardan he was a wonderful king.
“ We are unworthy of such words.”
The two of them bowed deeply and left.
They continued to make the rounds among those in the Vip seats. This task was almost endless and quite a daunting one for Oswald but as principal neither of them could neglect it. Both of them continued their work despite their worries about the coming war.

Cheers rang out as the announcement started.
‘From Halekuwait, NEM!!!”
Nem appeared as the announcement was made causing more cheers to rise up from the audience.
‘Next, from Fishnatica, Tim Lloyd!”
Tim appeared smiling and waved to the audience. The contestants faced each other as the rules were explained, however the cheers continued on right through the explanation making it hard to understand. Students werent the only ones in the audience this time. There are more customers than usual this year, some of which were adventures but almost all of them were here to see Nito.
The spectators began to predict who the winner was going to be based of their initial impressions.
‘Oh a beast man, and a white cat no less. But shes much too young, it looks like the first match will go to Fishnatica.’
‘ In that case I’ll bet 10,000 Rion on the pipsqueak.’
‘Are you insane? Youre going to regret that. I bet 10,000 on the blonde.’
Then an adventurer chimed in with their opinion.
‘This is the beastgirls win.’
The beastman adventurer had no doubt in Nem’s victory.
‘You’re just saying that because you’re a beastman. Unfortunately this first match is going to Fishnatica.’
The majority of the audience were convinced of Tim Lloyd’s victory. By then the explanation of the rules had finished.
‘Now then, I declare the start of the tournament! Competitors swear to compete honestly!’
Of course this was just ceremony and there was no magical vows actually involved.
‘Begin!’
Both contestants began moving at the same time.
“《Ashleym》!”
Nem was the first to cast magic and a flame shot out of her hand, rotating in a spiral as it flew at Tim.
“ To be able to use such magic at that age, as expected of the one who got first place.”
However, Tim looked calm.
“《Air press》!”
The ground cracked as Nem’s magic was blown upwards towards the sky and disappeared. The two of them had stopped moving as if wondering what would win, Wild intuition or actual experience.
“《Relic》!”
Nem cast a magic circle at Tims feet forcing him to jump out to avoid the electric shock that shot up from the ground. While in the are Tim was vulnerable and Nem took advantage of that fact.
“《Demon’s breeze》!”
Nem cast magic quickly before Tim could land and an intense wind blasted into him from the front.
“《Vacuum wave》!”
Time shot a ball of wind at the ground to dodge.
“That won’t work.”
This created another opportunity for Nem and two huge arms appeared in the sky. Cheers rose up from the audience as the two arms converged on Tim to not let him escape.
“It’s over!”
Nem slammed her hands down and the to giant arms followed the move and moved towards Tim. However at the moment that the arms touched him a dust cloud appeared and Nem raised her eyebrows confused. As the dust began to settle the shadow of a person became visible.
“What…?”
“The earth attribute magic was a surprise. As expected of someone in Nito’s party, of all the students at this school Nem might be the only one able to use it.”
As the dust cleared Tim became visible as he floated in the air.
“If I hadn’t used fly to avoid it I would have definitely been crushed.”
That was the reason why Tim had climbed to the top of Fishnatica even though he was only able to use wind attribute magic. It was his ability to fly. However in Tim’s case it was not a skill, which is relatively common, it was instead magic. In short, Tim manipulated the air around him using magic allowing him to fly much faster than the skill and provided him with a wider range of movement while in the air.
“This is how I was able to climb my way to the top.”
Tim held his hand out over Nem who was still on the ground.
“I have no blind spot here, sorry but you wont even be able to cast magic at me anymore. Youre going to be defeated one sidedly by my magic.”
Tim smirked as he said this.
“《Wind blade》!”
Three wind blades shot out towards Nem. The tore through the air but Nem’s expression didn’t waver, in fact she appeared calm.
“Nem is going to win!”
Nem brought her hands together.
