Upon his first success, Eldrian was stunned by the success but did not delay. He immediately turned towards the next vortex, once atom. Having found that upon forming the mana into a set element, it was far more stable. Its absorption was also slowed, the mana that entered would be converted to the same element as that of the vortex.

The struggle was still great but with hope, Eldrian persevered on. In just a few minutes the second vortex calmed. Already the pressure on him greatly calmed, yet now it was no longer balanced. As such, he quickly moved to an opposite vortex to recreate balance in his body.

Seeing that the vortex of mana surrounding Eldrian was calming, Myropsis sighed in relief but also grew worried. She turned to the three monsters who were still waiting. Realizing that they would soon act.

'It is now or never.' She took a deep breath to calm herself, recalling all that she had learned with Eldrian and also her personal knowledge and theories of magic. She had yet to test these theories, but it was her only hope. Luckily, she had extensive knowledge of the monsters of the world.

After all, this was where her true passion lay. Her pursuit of magic was only so she could one day explore the world to see all the amazing things that she could only dream of after reading about.

Her take on magic was not the same as Eldrian's but through learning from him her horizons had expanded greatly. First, she took on her centaurette form. Certain she would not be able to kill the three she wanted to slow them so she could take Eldrian with her and run.

Next, she started drawing runes in the air. Using them not as Eldrian, they would not be the spell. But rather their containers. She took out three small mana crystals and filled the runes with their power. Each spell would have an equivalent amount of mana equal to more than half her total.

Next, she started casting three different spells.

The strain of doing so was great, luckily, the monsters were fully focused on Eldrian and did not notice her preparations. She did not use her mana for these spells, but rather the mana stored in the runes. Returning it to the runes after forming the spell.

For the earth drake she prepared a spell of lightning, not much else would be capable of piercing through its thick scales. While the damage would also not be great, guided by the scales most of it would not enter its body. Its vitals would not be harmed.

However, it should still paralyze it for a few seconds. After all, it was an ancient beast of the draconic bloodline. There was no way it would be easy to kill. Her only hope was that the lighting would make it hard for it to move.

For the Mavros she prepared a spell of fire. Her fire would not penetrate the drake's defenses, but the Mavros was not a creature of great defense. No, it was one of great agility and deadly venom. Much like a ghoul. If it failed to notice her spell, the damage it should receive should be the greatest among the three.

For the Orthrus (the wolf) she knew she would not be able to do much to him against the elements of his tail. It had taken her some time to recall what manner of creature this was, thus while it was only Tier 5, she was most scared of it. After all, it was a creature of the same category as Ceph.

She chose a spell of nature and dark against the Orthrus. One that was used to sap the target's concentration and energy. While she doubted it would be effective, she just needed to stun them for a second so she could grab Eldrian and run.

She prepared each spell in sequence. Using the mana stored in the runes and letting them maintain control. Unfortunately, she had to keep some focus on each spell she completed. This was the most difficult casting she had ever done, never before had she tried to triple cast.

However, she gritted her teeth and persevered. When Eldrian was busy stabilizing his last vortex, she knew it was now or never. The three were getting ready to pounce.

'Now!' She rush forward as she aimed her spells. As the spell finally took form the three turned to the centaurette in shock. They had not even realized someone else was here. Her presence was too weak for them to notice. Yet, her spells showed that she was not as weak as they had thought.

Her spells flew true, catching them all before they could react. The Drake simply stared at her in anger but could not move as lightning arced across its body. It was not hurt but it was furious. The anger of a dragon formed in its heart.

The Mavros hissed in pain and fury. Blinded it even attacked the nearby drake who could not move. While it was still paralyzed, the fangs of the snake sank through its scales and it roared in fury. The fury freed it from its paralysis but now its focus was completely on the Mavros.

As for the Orthrus, it had been stunned for less than a second and was already giving chase. In a cold sweet, Myropsis realized just how shockingly fast the Orthrus was. It was almost as fast as Evale at her fastest. Three times faster than Myropsis after using all her skills, items, and spells to boost her speed.

Seeing this, she realized that the second she had gained would not mean much. The Orhtrus would reach them in less than five more. Its eyes were flashing with a rainbow of colors, lighting streaking across its body as it charged.

Just as it was about to reach them, it suddenly froze and ran. Seeing this, Myropsis was not grateful. Instead, she was filled with despair. She searched for the reason and soon she saw it.

Even among Mythical creatures, there was a large difference in strength. Alicorns were considered one of the stronger in this category, but they were not the strongest. The Ryagon and Ryu of the dragon race were stronger than them, they could only contend against normal dragons.

This creature was not a dragon, it was even more formidable. On the level of the Ryagons. Of the chimera bloodline, before her stood a Qilin. It did not even regard Myropsis as something worthy of entering its eyes, instead, its focus was on the elf in her arms.

A Qilin appearance was similar to dragons in many ways, but its frame was much smaller. It had a mane of burning gold, crystalline horns of emerald, and was covered in scales of the ocean. Its figure excused power and its appearance was not of a majestic overlord but of a lithe assassin.

"Leave him and I will let you live." The Qilin spoke.

Myropsis was frozen in fear, she was being completely suppressed by this Qilin. She could not even breathe. Like the other monsters, it was also not an adult, yet its power was clearly far above that of the others. There was no comparison.

Even while filled with fear, Myropsis did not think for a second of giving Eldrian to this Qilin. While her body was completely suppressed, her mind still worked. Quickly she started summoning her will and started forming a spell.

To her utter dismay, as soon as her mana started to move she lost control. She could only watch as the Qilin dismantled her spell with ease. Even ripping apart her mana pools. The pain was so great that her mind turned blank. It felt like her spirit was being torn asunder.

Suddenly a roar of fury filled the air. "You dare touch my daughter!"

Following this, the earth shook as a spear struck through the earth. Causing a chasm to separate the Qiling and Myropsis. The Qilin had stood there and had barely managed to react in time. It turned to the new arrival with a hint of fear. Yet, upon realizing this its fear turned to fury. How dared a lower creature cause such a lowly emotion to surface in its heart.

"You aren't capable of stopping me!" The Qilin roared and moved to take Eldrian. In the next second, it was forced to dodge again, where it had stood a spear of fire now floated. Readying to attack again. Seeing this, the Qilin's courage fled as cold sweat covered its body.

"Has the subterranean joined the forces of the devils?" A calm voice filled with ageless wisdom asked, following which a dwarf in rags appeared before the Qilin. "Will you be their first casualty for this arrogance?!"

Tovack's shout caused the Qilin to shrink in fear. And again it was filled with rage at being brought to this emotion. "You dare!"

"I dare," Tovack answered calmly, if not for knowing this Qilin's lineage he would have already killed him. "Go back now, your parents have already been told of your insolence!"

Hearing this the Qilin shivered in rage, but thinking of its parents it shook with fear. This time his transgression was not light, as the two parties were about to enter discussion he had invaded. Obviously, his target was not of less importance than himself.

Yet, he also realized that if he let this elf grow and the two sides came to clash then he would be a great enemy. He was still so young and already so powerful. Knowing this, the Qilin wished to at least kill Eldrian if he could not devour him.

Yet, with Myropsis's dad standing next to her and Eldrian, and Tovack between them, he saw no way to accomplish this.
