Chapter 69

Somehow as he brainstormed for solutions, Alexander also reflected the problem unto himself.

After all, the detachment problems that lurk in the company seem to embody his general detached personality.

It would seem that what they say is true. A company's manner of doing things is a reflection of the owner's character.

Creed Comics has a drive for excellence, efficiency, and quality but it comes off as unbothered to how everyone else perceives it and its works.

There seems nothing inherently wrong with being uncaring of a person's perception of you. However, everyone involved in the entertainment business or any business in that matter would say otherwise.

They know of the danger of being detached and the importance of the customer's satisfaction.

As such, Alexander has to adapt if he wants to succeed. If all follows accordingly, then the company would also adjust along with him.

If past-future Alexander Creed was satisfied with being uncaring and focused, then he is going to have to be somewhat of an accommodator to people now.

From birth to being a toddler, he was a normal child as can be. Since the death of his parents, the reclusiveness and one-track mindset towards his passion became the new norm.

Given that it is now his re-life and the programming obsession has been sated, perhaps it was time to be a bit more open.

Of course, the transition would be hard. It was even highly doubtful that he could change a decades-long personality.

However, he could still bypass his inherent detachedness and attain the inclusiveness that is needed. All that is needed of him at the moment is to find that solution to make it all work.

Besides, it is the company strategies and methods that need adjusting and not truly himself.

----

It was too bad that the day is coming to a close and coming up with the solution may have to wait for a later date.

Milla was already waiting for the ride home as she is already bored while Alexander had to have his brainstorming be cut short.

Although it is troublesome to have his thoughts be disrupted, he can't always get caught up in his own world. The recent reflections about being too detached have taught him that.

Time moved on as always and it should already be the final hour of the workday.

During this time, everything would be wrapping up and he needed to facilitate a lot of things.

The second-floor art people would mostly go on collecting and vaulting their works while he would leave some editorial comments for them to ponder on.

As for the non-artsy department, it has something to more with managerial decisions and reading up on the company's performance records.

His usual day-end responsibilities should be nearing its end but as he reached the first floor, he noticed the first-floor people piling up on another pile.

What else could it be than the mail problem that had been troubling them since the address advertisement?

-----

"What's got you guys excited?" Alexander could only ask as he reached their group huddles and he was still too short to look at whatever they were crowding at.

"Little boss, the fan mails have been organized as you ordered." Ms. Marker was always the point person for them and was dutiful enough to notice him approaching.

"I see. What seems to be the problem though?" He could only ask again as the trouble in the face of the market researcher lady was apparent.

"Well, we thought it was just fan mail but a lot of unwanted stuff came up." Ms. Marker could only come clean while the rest of the group echoed her troubled sentiment.

"Oh." Even Alexander was sort of surprised. He didn't really care for the troublesome mail sorting but now he was intrigued. "What kind of unwanted stuff?"

"It's best if the Mail team clue you in on the details, little boss?" Ms. Marker knew her boundaries and it was time for their new department to shine.

----

As soon as those nerd mails were piling up, the little boss decided to handle them by hiring people and setting up a separate department.

Everything had long been set and the respective Mister and Misses Mailers were hard at work since they were hired.

A Ms. Mail among the group stepped up as their mail group representative and informed the little boss of the predicament.

"Erm... little boss, we read and separated the mail as you told us to but a lot of haters and uhm... extremists seems to have sprung up." Ms. Mail was fairly new so she was a bit nervous with the rare little boss encounter she is in.

She then led the quiet company boss through the crowd to pet him see what they meant. Thus, Alexander got to see the onset mail problem.

Aside from the commendation pile and suggestion pile he ordered them to sort through, there seem to be additional piles he hadn't taken into account.

There was now a general complaints pile, DC pile, and a Marvel pile which should make up the aforementioned haters.

As for the extremists, the death threat pile and arsonist piles of mail should be their representatives.

Although he knew trolls existed since time immemorial, encountering trolls in the 1980s was still refreshing.

For Alexander, who assumed that this was only prevalent in the Internet era, seeing vocal haters and extremists in the mail line was a surprise.

"What should we do with them, little boss?" Ms. Mail could only ask where to go from here.

"Let me read some of them first, then we'll decide on what to do with them." Alexander didn't make her wait as he is now intrigued with the contents. "Any suggestion on where to start, Ms. Mail?"

The mail sorter lady read a lot of those letters to know what's wrong and what's right so she was the best guide. "I suggest you start with the two good piles, little boss. The ones we labeled as DC, Marvel, and, general complaints are tame enough while its best that you don't reach the death threat and arsonist pile."

"If you don't mind me asking, are the ones in the death threat and extremist pile also related to the 'tame enough' ones that you separated?" Although he already knew the amusing answer, he still had to ask.

Ms. Mail could only sighingly reply as it is the little boss's orders. "Yes, a lot of competitor company fans and a lot of parents are extreme in their dislike to the company."

"That figures." Alexander could only chuckle at this revelation. Still, he knew that these extremist letters are a mix of jokers and the real deal so it was best to tread carefully from now on.

He knew that re-life wouldn't be so smooth-sailing and hate is a part of life. Nobody and nothing could be liked by everyone after all.

Even the free air that people are grateful for could still trigger complications for some unfortunate souls.
