Chapter 119: The King and Queens

As soon as we entered the room, Fer-san bowed his head and me, Sig-san and Chris-san also followed suit. I was feeling overwhelmed because of my meeting with Manami-sama but I finally got to meet with the king!
“Ah, you may be at ease. The rest of you too, you may lift your head.”
The king said in a low but refined voice. I also raised my head after I sensed the three of them had raised their heads first. A number of chairs were arranged in a line for the adults to sit on while several children of varying ages were sitting on the floor, on top of fluffy looking rugs. They were all staring at us with great interest. Some of the children were still crawling, their face quickly relaxed into a smile upon seeing us.
The person who was sitting on a two-seater pomp-looking chair looked like the man with the refined voice from earlier. Looking at him made me wonder if Fer-san was going to become like him too when Fer-san grew old. This man must be the King of Aspel.
He had the same beautiful blonde hair as Fer-san but he combed his hair to the back neatly. His blue eyes looked like they were sparkling. Incidentally, Manami-sama was also sitting beside him, smiling brightly.
“Ferdinand, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Come and visit the castle more often. Sofia and the others miss you dearly.”

The lady faced the three of them who had been giving formal greetings. She chuckled lightly as she gave a word of advice to the three of them. She then turned her gaze to us. This must be Queen Esther, the one that Fer-san kept calling Mother Esther. Queen Esther didn’t have the same sharpness as Queen Sophia. She looked like a gentle person with her soft pink hair gathered on one shoulder. It was as if flowers were blooming around her… Queen Esther also didn’t look like her age….
“Mother Esther, you’re still the same as ever too… Yes, on this occasion I want to introduce everyone here to the person that changed my life… Ren-kun, if you please come this way. This is the man who will be my spouse for the rest of my life.”
Fer-san called out to me. I then stepped forward and immediately bowed at them.
“My name is Ren Himukya Cleva. I’m really honored to meet all of you. Thank you for sparing some of your precious time for this meeting. I’m an otherworlder who came to this world in May.”
I quickly raised my head and introduced myself.
“Huh?! You’re an otherworlder?!”
Manami-sama was looking at me as if he was saying,”there was someone like him with us here?”

The king then told them to stop fighting, he sounded like he was tired already.

Queen Sophia said. Her voice was firm and clear, she actually looked really cool while she said all that. She also called Queen Esther adorable but I really couldn’t agree with her more on that aspect. Queen Esther was indeed very cute.

“I don’t want to talk to someone who just won’t learn their lesson no matter how much I told them to.”

The two of them showed no sign of stopping. The king took a deep sigh before she asked Manami-sama to leave the room.
Manami-sama pouted but it seemed he was actually pleased with the reward the king offered since he obediently left the room. When Manami-sama was finally gone, somehow it felt like the tense atmosphere I had been feeling before finally dissipated. The little ones looked stiff when the two of them argued too. Only after Manami-sama left did their facial expression finally loosened.
But still, could they still go on incognito when everyone here heard about their plan? Well, I guess it was fine for everyone else to hear about it since Manami-sama and the king would still have some escort following them even if they went incognito.
“Ren, I’m sorry for showing you such a disgraceful sight. Since you’re going to become Ferdinand’s spouse, I guess you might’ve already known it but this is the situation going on between us queens. I know we can rarely meet but I’m sorry if we were to inconvenience you in the future.”

I was really surprised when the king bowed his head at me, although he only bowed for a little bit.

While I just stood there flabbergasted, the king and Fer-san continued on with their parent-son conversation.

Chris-san and Sig-san stepped forward, going down on one knee as they introduced themselves. Both Chris-san and Sig-san looked really cool on a daily basis but since we were going to meet with the royal family today, their clothes looked more formal than usual. When they kneeled like this, they both looked like a genuine knight. They looked really cool…
“Today’s meeting is a casual one. You don’t need to be afraid. Come closer. I hope together with Ferdinand, the two of you will support and protect your spouse well. I hope you will be able to create a good family together.”

The king said so with a cheerful smile on his face. Sig-san and Chris-san then replied in unison.

As if trying to break the stiff atmosphere, a woman sitting on a chair not far from us began to laugh. Elsa-sama? Since she called the king as ‘father’, that meant she must be Fer-san’s sister. If I remembered correctly, Ed-san did say they had another princess other than Princess Lily.

“Of course, it’s been 5 years already. You haven’t met with Casimir and Ragnar’s kid too, have you?”
“Uncle! I’m already 10 years old now!”

“The two of you are already that big….”
Following Elsa-sama’s words, who was chuckling adorably, as if flowers were blooming around her, the children told Fer-san their age. Fer-san, looking visibly surprised, widened his eyes at their remark.
If the last time Fer-san met them was 5 years ago, it was given that they had grown considerably since then. The two of them were 10 years old and 13 years old. I was probably 10cm taller than the 10 years old but the 13 years old were the same height as me.
Does that mean… I’m losing to a 13 years old…?
The revelation somehow sent me into a shock.

She has pink hair and blue eyes. She’s the First Princess of Aspel. She is Esther’s first child but somehow her personality resembles Sophia instead. Her spouse is her childhood friend who’s the same age as her and also the commander of Aspel Kingdom First Chivalric Order. She’s the mother of a 10 and 13 years old son.

T/N: I don’t really like the royal family….First because of how the king clearly has favoritism with Manami and second because of their family dynamic. I was surprised to know there’s no love between the king and the queens. I mean since they’re royalties, political marriage is inevitable. Maybe the king dotes on Manami since Manami is his first actual love. I hope meeting with Ren will change them for the better though. Now I sorta understand why Fer don’t like to come home (ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣﹏ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣)
