Chapter 74 : Date with Fer

“Good morning, Fer-san.”
“Yes, good morning. You look as lovely as ever today, Ren-kun.”
Today was the day of my date with Fer-san.
On the day of my date with Chris-san, I had stopped by their rental house before returning to Malik-san’s house. There, Fer-san told me to just patiently wait for him since he wanted to pick me up from Malik-san’s house.
As usual, Fer-san emitted a very sparkly and refreshing aura… And also, he still never forgets to compliment me after all this time…
“I’m not lovely… Anyway, do you really want to go there today?”
“No, you are very lovely and yes, I’d love to go there today.”
There was not an ounce of lies in his words, Fer-san truly meant it every time he complimented me. Seeing him like that made me unable to refute his compliment. But anyway, why did Fer-san want to go to that place?
“It’s about 30-40 minutes by foot from here. Do you want to walk there?”
“Yes. I have no problem with walking there at all unless Ren-kun prefers to go there with Viktor?”
“No, I don’t mind walking. Let’s bring Viktor some other time since I’d rather go for a long run with Viktor.”
I walked hand in hand with Fer-san. I’d like to go with Viktor too but today, somehow I’d much prefer to be alone with Fer-san.
“This way.”
“Fufu~ This is the first time I ever walk on foot through this path. Usually, I always go with Viktor so I don’t have many chances to walk around outside the city on foot.”
We left the city gate and trotted down the highway. Fer-san sounded so excited and happy. He kept on shooting fleeting glances around, just like a young kid on a field trip. I rarely ever saw Fer-san being like this so it felt refreshing seeing him acting like an excited small child.
When riding with Viktor, Fer-san would’ve reached the city gate in no time. Fer-san rarely got the chance to observe the area leisurely so everything must’ve looked unfamiliar for him.
“Taking a leisurely walk once in a while like this feels nice…”
“That’s right. Going for a stroll from time to time is good for your health too!”
Walking was a crucial part of my daily life but I never actually go for a stroll just for the sake of it. I usually always have something I need to do when I go for a walk.
“Yes. Going for a stroll with Ren-kun sounds nice but… I can’t entertain you like Sig and Chris do so I’m afraid Ren-kun would find walking with me to be boring…”
“Huh?! That’s not true! I’m having so much fun right now!”
The mood around us was tranquil and calm but when Fer-san said something like that with a bitter smile on his face, I couldn’t help but vehemently object to it with all my might. I’ve always enjoyed my time with Fer-san so I was really surprised to hear that.
“I’m glad if you really think so…”
“I’m really telling you the truth though? …Ah! There! That’s the forest!”
Fer-san still looked insecure so I tried to reassure him when I saw the forest, our destination for today, on my left side.
“But why do you want to come to the place where I first arrived in Alsar…”
Yes, Fer-san wanted to visit the place where I first arrived in Alsar. Which was why the two of us were on our way to that big lake. That lake was really beautiful so having a date there didn’t seem out of place but…
“Fufu~ I want to see the place where it all began for you, Ren-kun.”
“Is that so… Actually, I’ve gone back to the lake a lot. Either to try and see if I could return to my old world or just to gather lulu grass. Well, nothing ever happened before though…”
Yeah. Currently, I’ve accepted the fact that I won’t be going anywhere from Alsar but in the past, I’ve come here several times just in case I could return to earth. Nothing ever happened no matter how long I waited, it felt like I wasted my time for nothing.
As the two of us talked, we finally found the animal trail path in this forest.
“Do you still wish you could return to your old world?”
Fer-san asked, his eyebrows were creased and a sad glint could be clearly seen in his eyes.
“Huh? No! I’ve already gotten over it. Right now, I want to be with all of you. I’ve never thought of returning to my old world ever since then.”
Looking at Fer-san’s sad expression, I quickly denied it. Although I sometimes wondered what happened to my apartment or whether my workplace was in a bind because I was gone without notice, right now, I have little to no lingering attachment to Japan.
I squeezed our intertwined hands and Fer-san cast his glance at me. I smiled and Fer-san immediately returned the smile to me. I hoped I could lift the mood a little with this.
“… As for Manami-sama, she suddenly appeared in the castle’s garden. Of course, we had guards on duty. Hence why the castle fell into an uproar. Everyone was suspicious of Manami-sama, afraid of whether she was an intruder or not. However, after further investigation, it was revealed Manami-sama was just an ordinary otherworlder. My father (the king) fell in love with her and since then, Manami-sama had been living in the castle with us. Manami-sama has returned to that same garden hundreds, no, thousands of times already and she’s still in Alsar. That’s why I’m sure Ren-kun will be fine but just in case, let’s keep holding hands until the end. And… If by chance you were to return to your old world, please bring me along with you.”
Fer-san explained, his serious expression was back on his face. So Manami-sama first appeared in the castle, huh. I had been wondering how Manami-sama got to meet with the king but it all made sense now.
Fer-san was the one who asked to go to the lake with me but it turned out, Fer-san was feeling anxious about this. If by holding hands I could reduce his anxiety even just a little then I will keep holding hands with him but… I don’t want to imagine the possibility of returning to Japan.
If I had to go back then I wanted to have Sig-san and Chris-san with me too. Ah, but we had to do something about Sig-san’s wolf ears. If all of us were to be transported to Japan, I’m sure the three of them could make it big as a model. They are all very intelligent so with a little bit of studying, they’d be able to be anything they want without much problem too. They all also have good reflexes so maybe something related to sport would be good too?
“Of course! Fufu~ Thinking of all the possibilities awaiting us if I go back with all of you is fun. Ah, but… In my country, Japan, same-sex marriage and polygamous marriage are not legalized yet. We can’t get married in Japan… As I thought, staying here is the best, huh?”
“How terrible! If I’m not wrong, males can’t give birth there too? If that’s the case, Ren-kun, we mustn’t ever go to your old world!”
Imagining all the possibilities awaiting us was fun but in Japan, a homosexual couple was still in the minority. If I want to keep staying with the three of them, staying in Alsar would be the best choice after all.
When I explained that to Fer-san, he began to smile more and more. It didn’t take long for him to laugh too. He seemed to be having fun.
Yeah, laughing suits Fer-san more.
“Is that the lake? I can already see the waterside…”
“Yes! That’s it! When I opened my eyes, I was already laying around here…”
Between the line of trees, I could see the sunlight sparkling, the light was being reflected by the crystal clear water… I quickened our pace a little, dragging Fer-san by his hand and pointed at the big tree by the lake.
I remembered how surprised I was. I had been sleeping the night before but suddenly I already ended up there by the time I woke up.
“This place is so beautiful though…”
Fer-san said.
“Yes. It’s so beautiful how the sunlight is glittering from the reflection… I think it’s going to get hotter soon. Taking a dip in the cold water sounds nice…”
“You definitely mustn’t do it when you’re alone. All of us have to be present if you want to take a swim, alright? Also… I’d much prefer if you’d take a dip somewhere else instead… After all, we never know what might happen here…”
Fer-san murmured the last part.
The lake was so clear you could even see the bottom along with the fishes swimming lazily in the water. The large trees surrounding the lake provided a good amount of shade too. With all of these aspects combined, the lake looked really beautiful.
I thought taking a dip in the cold water while the sun was hot like this would be nice but Fer-san was very adamant in stopping me from swimming alone. I guess swimming here wouldn’t be good…Well, it was not like this lake was the only best spot to swim anyway. We could just find another place where all four of us could swim without feeling anxious.
“Thank you for bringing me here. Maybe for Ren-kun, this place is where all of your misfortune first began since you had to be suddenly transported into an unfamiliar world but for me.. This place is the dearest beginning where Ren-kun first arrived in Alsar. That’s why I want to visit this place at least once.”
“Hm~ In the beginning, there were times when I wondered why I ended up here but now I’m glad I’m here, you know? Because I can meet with people who are important to me here.”
Entwining our hands together, I held his hands firmly and stared at his eyes as I said that.
What I had just said to Fer-san were my true feelings. I had never met anyone special to me back when I was in Japan.
“I’m really happy to hear that. Well then. Shall we return home now? I’m satisfied after seeing this place with my own eyes. Let’s go for lunch after this?”
“Yes… My rank has increased too so I don’t have to gather lulu grass anymore… I don’t think I will get many chances to come back here in the future. That’s why… Is it alright if I have one last look for about 5 minutes?”
“Of course. We will stay here until you’re satisfied, Ren-kun.”
We came here just to see this lake. I had no other business left in this place.
I’m sure I won’t be coming back here again… Not only Fer-san, but I’m sure the other two must be feeling afraid that I’d suddenly leave to my old world if I’m here. They must have a considerable amount of anxiety deep down in their heart. I want to reduce their anxiety, even just for a little bit. That’s why I’ve decided I won’t be coming back here.
I stared at the lake without words. After I had enough, I called out to Fer-san.
“Thank you, Fer-san. Let’s go back. What do you want to eat?”
“Are you sure you’re done?”
“Yes! I’m going to be so hungry by the time we reach Pedrell.”
Holding Fer-san’s hand firmly, I turned my back and left until I couldn’t see the lake anymore.
After we reached the forest’s outskirts, I stared at the forest for a moment. Somehow, I felt a little nostalgic…
“Ren-kun. After this, the three of us will become your family. You will never be alone in Alsar. Malik-san would always be with you too.”
Fer-san said, maybe he realized the current state of my mind without me actually saying it.
“Yes… Thank you very much. Fufu~ Fer-san, I like you so much!”
Elated to hear him saying that, I hugged him tight and said I liked him. Then I tiptoed on my feet to kiss Fer-san on his cheek.
“Me too, Ren-kun.”
Fer-san returned my kiss and the two of us returned to Pedrell with our hands entwined.
We ate at a restaurant after we reached Pedrell. After that, the two of us went home and took a nap on the bed that could fit all four of us. We woke up in the evening and did some chores around the house. When Chris-san and Sig-san returned home from their solo quest, all four of us had dinner together.
Yeah, occasionally spending time with just the two of them felt nice but in the end, I still prefer for all four of us to stay together.
