Chapter 99 : Huh? Don’t You Think This is Too much?

T/N: Happy valday everyone! Even if you are single, double or triple, I don’t care, I just hope you have a great time today! ✽-(ᵒ∀ᵒ˵❁)/✽

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

After lunch, we relaxed for a bit before we headed to the guild. Altair was perching on my shoulder as always while Spica was toddling beside us. The way he walked was so incredibly cute. He would sometimes rub or wrap his body around my leg. It was a little bit dangerous because I’d trip if I wasn’t careful. Maybe I should’ve told him to stop doing that when we were walking….

“I’ve been waiting for you! Come on! Let’s go!”

“Umm… But it’s not 15:00 yet?”

When we arrived at the guild, we were ambushed by Jude-san, who had been standing in front of the guild waiting for us. Jude-san immediately walked briskly toward us as soon as he caught the sight of us. As always, his eyes weren’t looking at us but at Altair who was on my shoulder. It was clear to see he had been waiting for Altair and Spica instead of us. We had left the house early though so it was still 14.30 when we arrived at the guild but Jude-san was already raring to go.

“Jude-san, I know you must be feeling very motivated right now but your reservation starts at 15:00. There are some people still using the training ground right now so please wait for your turn here!”

“Ugh… Then can I touch them before we start…?”

Jude-san was scolded by Tord-san who was tending the counter. He looked dejected for a second before his mood went back up as he crouched down on the ground. His hands were left hanging in the air, reaching toward Spica but not touching yet.

『Don’t touch me!』

『Go away! Master, can I blow some wind to push this guy?!』

Aaah… Spica hates it so much that he’s about to use his wind magic on Jude-san….

“They seemed to hate it so I’m afraid I will have to refuse. Spica, you mustn’t do that, okay?”

I flatly refused Jude-san since I respected Altair and Spica’s wishes.

“But why?! Why?? Why does the magical beast hate me?!”

『Like isn’t it obvious…. You’re a creep that’s why. 』

“Err… What about your own magical beast?”

After being rejected by me and snarled at by Spica, Jude-san groaned out loud while hanging his head down. Still… Of course anyone would flinch back when you went onto them so strongly like this. But… Jude-san mentioned that he had several magical beasts with him so there must be at least one beast getting attached to him, right?

“Ren, drop it. You will have to do him later. It will be hard for you to do him if you get all friendly and chatty with him now.”

“Ah, yes. I’m sorry, Jude-san. I’ll see you later…”

When I was about to ask about Jude-san’s magical beast, Sig-san, who had been quietly watching our interactions suddenly stepped in. He grabbed my hand to pull me away from Jude-san who was still looking depressed.

But… I think I heard Sig-san mention the word ‘do’ or maybe it was just my imagination…?

“Ren-san! Umm… I have a favor to ask… It seemed the people who came to watch Ren-san’s summoning before, had been talking about it and… We’ve got a rush of people asking permission to watch Ren-san’s match… I’ve narrowed the list down so there will be only adventurers coming to watch but still… Some of the adventurers are not that strong so I’m really sorry to trouble you but is it alright if you put a barrier?! I’ve talked about it with the Guild Master and he said this kind of thing will be easy peasy for Ren-san…”

I had been talking on the entrance with Jude-san so I was on my way to the guild counter. As soon as I arrived at the counter, Tord-san stood up from his seat. With an apologetic look, he brought his hand together in front of his face as he begged me to do him a favor.

Well, I don’t really mind. I don’t want anyone to be hurt because of us anyway… But… ‘Easy peasy’… It’s not ‘easy peasy’ for me… Malik-san really thinks too highly of me… This doting parent…

“It’s alright. Then I will go ahead so I can make sure the range of [Barrier] for the match.”

“Thank you very much! Those who wish to observe are already waiting in the training ground. You’re welcome to take a look first so you can decide how big the [Barrier] will be!”

“Yes. I’ll be on my way then.”

“No, no. I will come with you, Ren. Just in case someone strange tries to approach you..”

I was quite certain Jude-san would want us to start the match as soon as the clock hit 15:00. That was why I needed to put the [Barrier] before our scheduled time. I had thought I’d be going first myself and the three of them could wait for me here but it seemed like they wanted to come along too.

“With this, they will know who Ren-chan belongs to, right?~”

“But do notice Ren-kun doesn’t only belong to Chris, alright? Or rather, we belong to Ren-kun.”

I had been holding hands with Sig-san ever since I came into the guild but this time, Chris-san pulled me close to him and slung his arm around my shoulder. Because of the difference in our height, it was easy for Chris-san to put his arm on my shoulder. Like he didn’t need to lift his arm that high. But still, the three of them belong to me, huh…It felt amazing to think these three popular guys belong to me.

“You got that right. This time I will let Chris have the spotlight but if someone asks, make sure you tell them Ren got three fiancés, you hear me?”

“Yes, of course. Let’s go now, shall we?”

I nodded at Sig-san’s words and went to the training ground. Fer-san walked ahead of me and opened the door for me. I thanked him before I went through the door and…

Don’t you think this is too much?

“Isn’t there too many people…?”

“You see… Ren-san, you’ve gained a lot of attention. Not only you’re Guild Master’s son, you’re also the leader of a party with these three incredible members. Now then, I’ll be counting on you for the [Barrier]!”

“Haah… Then can you gather all of them in one place?”

The training grounds were crawling with people who looked obviously curious about my match with Jude-san. Maybe there were about 70 to 80 people here… Tord-san asked me to put a barrier but I wouldn’t be able to do it if there were too many people scattered here and there.

“Alright! Where do you want me to gather them?”

“Hmm… Then can you please gather them near the entrance? If I put a [Barrier] here, there wouldn’t be any problem if there were more people coming in since they will be welcomed within the [Barrier] immediately.”

“Yes Sir! 【Loudspeaker】Everyone who’s coming to see the magical beast showdown between Ren Himukya Cleva and Jude Goitia please come and gather around here!”

“Wh-Whaat…?”

After Tord-san heard my answer, he magically whipped out something that looked like a wand. Huh? That wand looked similar to the mic Janson-san used back in Calhea…? Now that I think about it, Tord-san’s voice was echoing throughout the entire training ground as he spoke into that wand. But still… ‘Magical beast showdown’? What was it about?! It sounded like such an important event or something?!

“Pedrel is a relatively peaceful city so maybe that’s why everyone in here is hungry for some excitement… Not to mention, there aren’t many magical beast contractors in the first place so that’s why a lot of people are getting curious. Ren-kun, you don’t need to worry about your surroundings. Just focus on what is in front of you.”

“Uugh… I understand… Okay! Let’s do it!”

Seeing my mouth gaping open in confusion, Fer-san stroked my head as he comforted me. I was feeling a little bit scared because things were getting more serious than I originally had thought but I couldn’t run away now at this point. And to top it all off, I had my reputation as the leader of Luce to uphold too.

I didn’t want people to say that my party was lame because of me. I didn’t know if I could win or not but at least, I didn’t want them to view me as someone shameful.

I lightly slapped my cheeks to boost my spirit.

“Okay so… We’re going to put a [Barrier] near the entrance so please stay huddled up on this side!”

“Ah, I’m going to draw a line.”

Tord-san guided the masses through his wand. He seemed to have gathered most of the people so I left Chris-san’s side and used my feet to draw a semi-circle around the entrance.

“What are you doing?”

“Oh, is this kid Ren?”

“Haah… Right now, Ren-chan is preparing to put a [Barrier] for you guys sake so don’t talk to him, okay?”

“Don’t step on this line.”

Maybe because they were curious about what I was doing, people began to flock around me but thankfully the three of them were quick to take control of the situation. This training ground was really wide though. It took quite a lot of effort to draw a line on this corner using my leg… I should’ve brought some kind of stick with me.

I kept on thinking to myself as I continued to draw the line.

“There we go. I’m going to start now, okay? Ah, Tord-san. Please go that way too. 【Barrier】… With this, everything should be alright.”

“Thank you for your help!”

“What is happening?”

“Beats me.”

“Ah, you’re free to come and go as you please. I’ve made it so the [Barrier] will only repel magic and physical damage.”

I told Tord-san to get inside the range of [Barrier] before I cast it. For the time being, I let the people in the [Barrier] be able to go out and in as they pleased in case something happened. It’d be a problem if by any chance either me and Jude-san  were to be badly hurt and no one could come to help…

My fiancés were still here by my side so even if I didn’t set the [Barrier] in that way, everything should still be alright but it was better to take extra precaution. I guess the reason why they didn’t go to that side was because I hadn’t explained to them first that they’d still be able to go in and out from my [Barrier]. But still, they would be doing just fine without my [Barrier] anyway since they were strong.

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Maybe because it was the first time Tord-san had seen my [Barrier], he didn’t really understand my explanation well. His face looked blank as he stared at me.

“Ah, let me explain it to you guys. 【Loudspeaker】. The line that he had just drawn is the line for the [Barrier]. You’ll be safe if you stay on that side but if you step outside of that line, we won’t be able to guarantee your safety. Understand?”

Fer-san took the initiative and used the same magic as Tord-san. A similar wand appeared before Fer-san as he explained the situation to the people instead of Tord-san but… Fer-san emphasized the last word in a cold, chilly tone. Everyone in the hall became quiet and the atmosphere became tense instantly.

Which reminded me, Fer-san’s nickname was 【Ice Prince】after all…

At Fer-san’s words, everyone nodded their head vigorously, as if their head would be chopped up at any given time.

“Come on then! 5 minutes left to go! I can’t wait to see what kind of move his kid got!”

“Ah…. Yeah…”

Amidst the tense atmosphere, Jude-san came crashing in. He opened the door with a loud bang, practically saying ‘What tense atmosphere? I don’t give a shit!’.

“Ren, make sure you tear that kind of guy to pieces, okay?”

“Be careful so you won’t get hurt, okay?~”

“I’m sure Ren-kun will win easily.”

The three of them each gave me a peck on the cheek before they went toward the [Barrier] I had erected.

Yeah. It might be hard for me to live up to Sig-san’s expectations but as their fiancé and the leader of Luce, I need to give them a good show that won’t bring shame to our reputation.

But still… I still didn’t understand how things became this serious….

“Okay then, it’s a little early but let’s start it anyway. The match ends when either of you two admit defeat. If someone gets knocked out or unable to continue the match, the guild staff will intervene and stop the match. This is just a simple brawl so please refrain from killing each other off, you hear me? It’s going to be troublesome if someone dies.”

Malik-san, who appeared without me knowing, came and explained the rule of the match albeit reluctantly.

“Yes.”

“Understood.”

The two of us voiced our affirmation.

I think the  one who was the most inconvenienced with this turn of events must be Malik-san. I was more or less his son so the people around him must be pestering him about me and as the Guild Master, he must be troubled to have so many people applying to become spectators of this match….

After I was done with this match, I would cook a lot of Malik-san’s favourite dishes!

“Okay then, let’s begin!”

T/N: Not gonna lie, who doesn’t want a free show? I still remember back in highschool when I saw my friends pulling each other’s hair in the bathroom. Good times. ( ᴗ ̫ ᴗ )
