__________ POV Narration__________

While the heroes and the Liberation Army were fighting, Twice was just sitting in his room. Listlessly staring at the walls.

'Why...?' He remembered the discussion he had had with Re-Destro. It hadn't gone quite well...

"Your Meta Ability will be a great asset to our win against the heroes in the upcoming raid!" The long-nosed leader of the army spoke with a confident smile on his face.

But Twice didn't quite share the man's enthusiasm.

"D-Do we really need to make more clones?" He was already struggling with himself, when making clones of the Army he was just reminding himself of his past... The possibility that he was also nothing but a clone...

But Re-Destro lacked that context about Twice, he just saw the duplication quirked man as a coward, he looked at him with scorn. Then another smile reached his face as he hid his anger behind a feeble mask.

"Of course we do! Your Meta Ability is a gift from god! Why would you hesitate to use it?" Re-Destro did his best to up Twice's morale, but it didn't do much to help.

Twice just looked on with an empty gaze and nodded his head. Re-Destro got what he wanted, and Twice was forced to watch a lot more of his clones die.

After all, there was nothing for them to do after they had finished cloning others. It was an endless cycle of him watching versions of himself, just as real as he was, die to create an army for Re-Destro.

"What am I doing?" There he was, huddled in his bed, staring at the ceiling with an empty gaze.

Then a voice woke him up. "What the hell are you doing?! Moping around all pathetically like a wimp!" It was his own voice.

His personalities clashed and he ended up scolding himself in the process. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence ever since he had joined the Liberation Army.

He wanted companionship, but he was only being used for his powers. He wasn't an idiot. He could clearly see it.

"Why are we letting these punks walk all over us?!" He raised an eyebrow at his own question. At this point, he realised that it was a good question...

"That's right... Why?" He said as he slowly started getting back up. He looked in the mirror to see his own tired face, split down the middle as if he was cut in half and stitched back together.

One side of his face seemed to be irritated, angry, the other was calm, traces of tears on its eye.

It was as if two people were living in the same body... A double personality...

"I guess we can find friendship elsewhere... If we really look for it. I'm done." Now, his calm side spoke up, as his angry side also smiled.

Twice put on his mask, for one last time.

"Escaping... What is there left for me to do if I escape? Maybe I can gain friends among the heroes if the villains aren't willing to show me anything other than indifference..."

He spoke to himself while staring at the mirror.

"I don't know about that! We'll likely just get arrested honestly!" His angry side was being really blunt when speaking, like usual.

"I'd rather take my chances... I've nothing left here... Big Sis Magne also left already. I don't even know what I was waiting for all this time."

Magne had been the only person that Twice had managed to truly bond with. And she had left the Liberation Army not long after seeing how they were using Twice.

She wasn't interested in the group anymore. She informed Twice of what they were doing. Of how they were just treating him as a clone making machine.

But he refused to listen at the time, mistaking the admiration they showed for his ability with admiration for his own self.

They never truly cared about him, only Magne watched out for him, and he had refused to run with her... Now he was going to go out alone.

He walked down the hallways of the base, wearing his villain costume for one last time while humming to himself.

Suddenly, he could hear yet another person humming down the same corridor. Looking there, he could spot a silhouette in the darkness.

A tall being, an oddly shaped head, antennas dangling in front of its face. Large beady red eyes and a set of mandibles that looked like they could crush anything.

Broad shoulders, long legs, powerful black exoskeleton covered his entire body. Now Twice recognized the figure.

"... Beru" He stopped in his tracks as he looked at the menacing figure of the hero in front of him. His humming had stopped, but Beru's had not.

He kept humming the same tune that Twice had been humming. Twice sweated a bit, his seemingly carefree hmming only made things worse.

Beru was casually walking in the middle of the headquarters of the Liberation Army, no care in the world for its defences and the number of people guarding it.

"Hmm~ Why'd you stop humming?~ It was a really catchy tune~ I kinda want to know the end of it~" Beru said with a happy tone.

It is easy to not antagonize others when you never see anything as a danger. Beru had no reason to act cautious, he had no reason to attack first. So he decided to see what the deal with the person in front of him was.

But he hadn't quite abandoned his support duty. His eyes were darting through the walls as he opened up portals around the heroes to block attacks from time to time.

Having High Spec made him able to multi-task effectively. Now, he was free to talk to the person in front of him, without ever losing sight of the heroes in the city.

"Well... You did surprise me quite a bit. But I guess that doesn't matter much. I was about to quit this organisation anyway..." Twice said with a wry smile underneath his mask.

He had hoped that he would get to help some people before he was captured. Just to ease his own mind, maybe make a few friends along the way.

But his hopes were short-lived. Meeting Beru sealed his fate... Or did it?

"Hmm~ How come?~ I don't think the moral is this low in the army~ The people outside seem to be fighting rather furiously~" Beru said with a bit of curiosity in his gaze. He was in no hurry, there was still time before the Flanking Team made an appearance and he didn't feel like rushing things.

"It's just... All that's been happening is me using my quirk for them... That's all. I was made a leader in name, I was treated 'well' on paper. But I'm tired of all of these reach-arounds. I just want honesty for once..." Twice spoke with the same smile on his masked face.

Beru was simply looking at the man. 'Why is he telling me all of this...?' He was genuinely confused, but he also managed to realise who the man in front of him was.

"Say~Are you the one that clones people?~" Beru asked while tilting his head to the side for a second.

Twice just gulped, he didn't seem to know how to respond to that. He knew that he contributed to the hardships of the heroes that were fighting outside. But now the situation was out of his hands.

He also thought that any hope of him making a friend among the heroes was gone.

In the end, he just nodded once. Beru just stared at him for a while.

Then Twice opened his mouth once more.

"J-Just give me a chance! I will help the heroes this time! I promise!" He tried his best to appeal to Beru's sympathy, but there wasn't really much of that left in Beru, to begin with.

"OH FOR FUCK SAKE!" Then the other side of Twice burst out in anger. Surprising even Beru.

"Stop toying with him you overgrown fucking ant! Either give him a chance or kill him alrea-!" Twice quickly covered his own mouth in a panic. He looked at Beru with fear, expecting the worst to happen.

But then he saw that the insectoid had just burst out laughing.

"HahAhaHahAh~" Twice looked at Beru with a weirded out gaze as he thought 'He is either mad... or amused?' It was hard for him to tell.

Beru on the other hand 'Damn! This guy is really cool! It's been a long time since someone had the balls to actually do that to me, knowing full well who and what I am.' It took him a while to finish laughing. Then he spoke up to the stressed-out Twice.

"All right~ I'll give you a chance~ What do you want?~" Twice immediately teared up when hearing Beru's words.

"I... I want to help!" Twice said with determination. Beru just smirked mentally as he nodded.

"Well then~ Let's start helping, shall we?~" And so, an unlikely union started. Twice ended up joining the hero side.
