_________ POV Narration_________

Alf decided to not get discouraged by the bad way his assassination attempt ended up.

While the knife was still in between Beru's fingers he quickly jumped backwards. He was about to dive into the ground and enter a shadow, but he felt his back hit something tough, it was definitely not a wall though...

"Where are you going?~ We've barely started talking and you want to leave?~" Beru said as his clawed hand grasped the man's head, completely wrapping his clawed fingers around his face and leaving deep cuts.

The assassin made a quiet scream as he also became angry. 'I'm not going to be manhandled by a fucking ant!' Was his thought as all of the shadows in the room seemed to gain life and spurred into action.

They formed tendrils and chains, all of them twirling and moving around the room in a menacing manner.

All of them expanded towards Beru, who just tilted his head when seeing them.

"Shadow manipulation? Your quirk seems pretty useful..." The insectoid simply let out a steamy breath of air, as the temperature rose in the room.

Flames appeared all around Beru's body, the light pushing all of the shadows away as Beru still held onto the man's head with the only hand he had that wasn't on fire.

Alf was, at this point, still not panicking as much as he should've. He was a prideful and cold-hearted man, even when faced with certain death and as his odds of survival were diminishing in front of him, he still held on to his pride, refusing to showcase any fear or weakness in his gaze.

He started at Beru, in between the clawed fingers that dug into his head.

Beru didn't react to his gaze, he only shrugged a bit, in truth, his own flames were somewhat obscuring his gaze.

Alf was quick to notice that too, and he wasn't the type to let such an opportunity slip by. With his free hands, he grabbed at his back and, out of two angled hilts, he took out two bent machetes.

With a Kukuri in each hand, he moved swiftly to chop at Beru's arm. His blades were covered in shadows, making them look as black as Beru's exoskeleton.

Beru obviously noticed his move, but he wasn't exactly in a panic thinking of how to stop it. He wasn't even worried when seeing the knife. Why?

'I've seen attacks that looked a lot more dangerous from people that planned their fights according to my abilities. At least Re-Destro and Overhaul had some way to kill me, but this guy came in blind...'

Beru was less than impressed with his assassin, he had thought that an assassination attempt on his life had been rather lacklustre. He had expected his enemies to send at least a full team of assassins all prepared to fight and counter his many abilities.

But all he got was an overly-excited and impatient bloke with a half-decent quirk that was trying to just fight him. Sure, he tried taking Beru by surprise, but that attempt was so shit that he might as well not have tried.

Beru was publically known to have countless quirks, many of which were bound to grant his hyper-awareness of his surroundings. All that Beru asked was for a bit of professionalism from his would-be killers.

At least putting in the minimal effort to learn more about his abilities before jumping in head-first.

Honestly, Alf did know quite a bit about Beru's powers. But he didn't think that Beru would be able to react in time. He had been able to watch and tail him for so long after all.

In the end, his impatience and confidence got the better of him, and now he was faced with this bloody struggle.

Beru felt his hand being hacked at, his Exoskeleton being scratched repeatedly by the man's furious attack.

Still, Beru refused to let go.

'If he gets into the shadows I don't know if I'll be able to catch him...' It was the obvious answer. Since he knew that his opponent could move in and out of shadows, he obviously wouldn't let that happen.

He also had no idea how to use the man's quirk, so following him with it was also improbable.

"If I just squeeze a bit~ Your head will crack like an egg~" Beru spoke as the fire around him died down.

The assassin eventually stopped hacking and cutting at Beru after his blades broke and he was left with just two handles.

"Heh, as if your ugly ass could do that. I have a lot of info-" Just as Alf was about to build a case for his survival, Beru squeezed the life out of him, by crushing his skull. Beru dug his fingers into Alf's skull, cracking his head and ruining his brain in an instant.

It was done rather quickly, not even giving one of the 'best hit-men alive' a chance to scream.

Beru threw his limp body on the ground and took a single small lick of his blood. If such a useful quirk made its way to him so easily, not take it? It was certainly more useful than some random strength-enhancing quirk.

"I don't need your shitty information~" Beru didn't need a PowerPoint presentation on who his enemies were. The second Yori managed to find out who the ring leader was, he'd also have the person that wanted him dead.

Purplish mist seeped out of Beru's body and swallowed up the corpse of the man that had tried to kill him.

It cleaned up everything, transporting the mess in some random desert, and the body itself in Yori's laboratory.

Beru still needed to identify the man properly. He wasn't about to negotiate with those that tried to kill him, but he knew better than to get rid of useful evidence.

If Yori could find out the identity of the assassin, then finding out who the employer was could be possible.

But, for now, it was back to paperwork for Beru. Not for Yori though.

"Why the fuck is there a corpse in the middle of the lab?" The middle-aged scientist looked at his assistants, they all seemed terrified.

Yori then just shook his head and waved them away. He noticed the way the man was killed and it became somewhat clear to him.

'That idiot... Couldn't he warp it in a more secret location?~' Yori, as always, had to deal with Beru's uniqueness and clean up after this mess.

He looked on as another small portal opened up and dropped a note on the man's ribcage. Yori wasted no time picking it up and looking at it.

'Eyy, It's ya boy!

I've sent you this cool little present, I kinda need you to tell me who tf this is.

I've no idea, he was about to start talking and all that, but I got impatient.

Meh, good luck. And thanks m8!

I owe you a pint for this one!'

It was jumbled and had some spelling mistakes, but it was clearly Beru's writing. Yori pondered why Beru would ever bother purposefully making grammatical errors, but he gave up soon after.

Trying to figure out Beru's reasons for doing something was harder than piecing together a way to stop hunger in Africa.

Yori rubbed his nose as he looked at his increasing workload. 'Yep, no problem Beru, totally wasn't busy or anything.'

Still, he got to work to help out his friend. Their partnership went two ways, after all, Beru had already helped Yori in reaching his goal, finding a way to save humanity from extinction. Now it is Yori's time to give back.

Then he noticed something weird. He looked at his smartwatch and it beeped in alarm.

In a rush, he ran to his more personal space in the giant research facility. A hidden room filled with cameras was the one that had given him that alarm.

The cameras were all from agents trailing and protecting members of Beru's group. And one of the cameras had just gone dead.

'This isn't optimal...' Yori looked at who it was exactly. The agent he had assigned to Nezu was the one that had gone AOL. 'I guess I have to do something about that too...'

The scientist rolled his eyes as he waved his hand and opened up a purplish portal. 'No need to bother Beru with this...'

Yori gaining the Warp Gate quirk was a necessity, Beru had given it to him after they had finished with the presentation at that ball.

Warp Gate was actually a combination of quirks, and it acted a bit differently for Yori. He could only make stationary warp gates that connected to locations he wanted them to. But he couldn't mould the shape of portals, only their size.

He also couldn't actually exude any mist, portals just opened for him. Beru also had no idea why the quirks worked like that for Yori, but at least they did.

All for One couldn't even combine the quirks within his own body, so this much was already great.

Yori sighed as he stepped into that portal. 'This is going to be a long night...'
