Satvik's eyes kept on fluttering and after sometime he started having a headache. He started wriggling around in his father's arm. His father looked at him and must have seen his eyes that were as red as blood.

"Whoa! Go easy on that ability champ. You hardly have any mana, don't use it continuously or you will pass out due to mana drain" said Satvik's father.

Satvik had played enough games in his last life what mana drain does to a person. Therefore, following his father's suggestion he simply shut his eyes closed. Controlling this ability was hard for him, at least for now. This infant body of his will surely prove to be more of a hindrance for now.

The pair made their way through the forest being repeatedly attacked my monsters throughout the way. However, Satvik's father was a great mage and his spells easily sent them to afterlife.

While looking at his father in action the pain of losing his mother was slightly divided by the curiosity regarding magic and spells. To every child, his father is the first hero and after looking at him in action, to Satvik he looked like male protagonist with OP spell inventory.

When Satvik's father looked at his son's expressions, a flattering smile formed on his face and while raising his head high he said, "I'm pretty badass, right? Have you ever seen someone as amazing as me. Killing monsters with just one attack, I'm a one man party."

And after saying that he started laughing without giving care about their situation. But, Satvik knew he was trying to divert Satvik's mind, to ease the pain of his mother's sacrifice.

'He hasn't changed at all' thought Satvik while rolling his eyes, which was pretty comical for a week old child.

After crossing the forest they entered grasslands. Acres and acres of just green and yellow. Nothing else to see beyond that. The grass reached Satvik's father shoulder height. Satvik was in embrace of his father to ensure that he doesn't get cut by grass blades.

After walking for an entire day, the duo finally reached near a neat little town and the grasslands was replaced by farming fields.

"We have finally reached our destination. Now my time has come to join your mother. But do not feel sad kid. Never be sad for us. This was our choice and for every parent it is their duty, to ensure safety of their child" said his father.

Satvik tried to hold back his urge to cry but in the end it was useless and all he could do was cry and cry turning his face towards the farmers. Maybe in hope of somebody coming and saving his father and him.

Satvik's father shifted his gaze and started looking for someone. Then his gaze finally landed on a couple leaving their field.

"There they are" he said and started to move towards them.

_________

Doina town, was situated near the border of Kaziranga kingdom and Rissa state. Even after tensed border issues between the two, the wind of conflict never reached the walls of Doina.

It was a small town with population that hardly reached five thousand. The people of this town were mainly engaged in farming and craftsmanship for their livelihood.

In this town there was a family of two who were never able to welcome a child in their lives. Though both of them never show this to each other, but deep down they sincerely wished if there was a child so they could achieve parenthood. There was a latent longing in both of them to have a raise a child as their own contribution to this world.

They both were farmers and owned 4 pieces of land on the other side of wall. They had enough money to support their easy laid-back life and had just gotten done with tilling the soil of their field.

It was dusk, so the farmers where on their way back to the town to get back in the safety of their walls. It was well renowned fact on Medini, that monsters activity increase with the arrival of night and only walls and guard of towns and cities could insure one's safety.

The couple also started heading back towards their house. Dinner had to be made and had before they turn in for the night. Then both of them heard a child crying behind them making them both turn around. They walked a bit towards the sound of child crying and found a person standing carrying a child in his embrace. A child that was crying bloody murder.

The man holding the child finally spoke, "Can you both look after this child. I found it near two dead bodies, might have been his parents."

"I am a vagabond, I can't even take care of myself how I will take care of him. On the other hand he could use some people like you two to look after him."

The woman covered her mouth with her hands and then looked at her husband with pleading eyes. Her husband had already been in deep thoughts. The wishes of both the husband and wife were going to be fulfilled finally.

He once again appraised the vagabond and said, "Fine, take him Aisha and go back home. I'll be back within few hours."

The woman rushed to hold the child with tears of joy and embraced him completely and declared, "from today you are my child" and kissed the forehead of the child many times.

"Don't take long, Dhruv. You know what comes with night, the monster rampage have increased during night time these days." Aisha said with her eyes and mind on the child in her arms.

When she left, her husband turned to look at the vagabond with serious expression and interrogated, "tell me the truth? Why are you giving us your child?"

The vagabond looked him with surprised and said. "You're wrong sir. I just found him in the woods. It seemed his parents were killed by monsters and he was the only one left alive."

Dhruv looked at him and said, "I might be from this backwater area and a farmer but I'm not that stupid."

"What kind of a vagabond cries for a stranger's child?"

The vagabond touched his cheeks which were wet with tears and simply laughed while shaking his head. He didn't even get to know when he had started crying. Maybe his tears were mixed with his son's tears and became one in longing. Maybe that is why it was so hard to distinguish which one was grieving more.

"Well it's father's duty to ensure his child is safe, right?" said the vagabond and took a deep breath.

"That child has to achieve great things in future, my wife and I are just giving him a head start, that's all."

The farmer nodded and left while muttering under his breath, "I don't know your reason for doing this but don't worry we'll take care of him as if he was our own child."

The farmer had already came to conclusion that they were on the run from someone. So to save the life of their child the child's parents had come to this decision.

For him and his wife, this was like a blessing in disguise. He couldn't remember how many times they both have prayed to have a child of their own.

"Thank you" with that the vagabond bowed his head and when the farmer left he began chanting.

"I pray to Maya, the mother of illusion;

Let me be the shield of my child;

So he could stay hidden, from the people who want to harm him."

"Good bye, kid" murmured the vagabond.

His body disintegrated and the particles which were left, flew with the wind towards the child and enveloped him in a warm glow.
