In pastures cattles were grazing the greens while looking at their owner child with pitty.

From past few days their owner's child has been thoroughly examining the bushes around the pastures as if looking for something.

With this examination and lamentation another day came to the end. They headed back towards their town when the sun was about to set.

The child had dejected look once they returned home. Then he knocked on the door.

"Woah! What's with that ugly expression" said the man who opened the door.

"It's nothing, I'm just tired" said the kid.

"Tired? It looks more like you're dead on the inside. What happened kid?"

"Just teenager things. I'll be fine" replied the kid while entering.

"Teenager things? You are hardly 7 years old. You know that right!?" said the man.

The kid sighed and went back to his room.

"What happened to Sati?" said a woman as she walked out of the kitchen.

"Apparently our boy is already having teenager issues" said the man while rolling his eyes.

"What kind of bulls**t is that!" said the woman with a confused expression.

Satvik woke up and after brushing his teeth hurriedly, he put on fresh clothes and went straight down to have his breakfast.

On the breakfast table, eggs and toast were waiting for him.

This has become the staple breakfast menu for him. Although he never hated eggs and toast prepared by Aisha, he still sometimes missed parathas [bread stuffed with spiced potatoes stuffing] with butter from his previous life.

When he sat down next to Aisha to have his breakfast, she looked at him with concern.

She then cleared her throat to get everyone's attention and said, "You know Sati you can come to us and tell us if you need our help with anything."

"I know that very well mum" he said while chewing on bread.

Aisha just nodded and gave him another piece of toast.

After breakfast Satvik left his house to look for his Tsundere. He had told his parents that he will skip going to the pastures with the cattle today.

He was pretty sure if anybody could help him out with his spice issue it will be Danny.

He went to Danny's house and had to drag him out for new adventure. Danny still remembered how their last adventure went and the scolding he got from his parents afterwards.

He had never been afraid of anything more than the death gaze of Aisha he got last time.

After dragging Tsundere to the library he told him that he needed his help to find several herbs and fruits. After browsing number of books for hours, to look for substitute of spices there were no results in the end.

Satvik was about to give up when Danny muttered while thinking, "You know, maybe that mad alchemist might be able to help us."

Satvik's ears perked up and he enquired further.

"Which 'mad alchemist' are you talking about?"

"Do you know about Haldi, the alchemist who people claim to have gone mad few years back?"

'Huh! Haldi what kind of a person name their child after a spice? Or is it just a coincidence' thought Satvik and then shook his head to Danny's question.

"Let's go and meet him. Although people claim that he is mad but I think it's not true. He is quite smart and you will see yourself" said Danny while they moved out of the library.

After few minutes of walk the duo reached their destination, Haldi's House. The House was at the corner of the town and actually was a rundown mansion which had lost its glory long ago.

It seemed that the residents did not bother to take care of the house. At several location walls were broken and were infested by wild vines and plants.

The paint looked several decades old giving the walls and the place a haunted look. It reminded Satvik of a witch's place from old cartoons. Danny knocked the gate to make sure the owner knew about their visit.

They had to knock several times before the door opened and a grumpy old man with long white beard came out. He was wearing indistinguishable clothes which had now turned ragged and were caked in dirt.

"Oh, it's Danny Boy! Come in, come in, and make yourself at home. That goes for your friend as well," said the old man.

Danny nodded and followed the old man inside while gesturing Satvik to do the same.

They followed him in in his not so humble abode and it smelled like someone had died in there.

The old man noticed Satvik's disgusted expression. He sighed, looked around himself and then said, "You should have seen this mansion in its glory."

Satvik didn't say anything and followed him to a room which seemed like a hall turned into a makeshift laboratory.

There were many plants and cauldrons. After observing his surroundings, Satvik finally came to understand that this what an Alchemist workplace looks like.

While he was looking around Satvik's gaze landed on a vine plant in the corner of the room. He walked towards the vine and saw tiny green berries like fruit hanging from it.

Satvik took a bite of one of the berries and fell on his knees with tears dripping from of his eyes. He then looked towards the ceiling and started muttering something.

Danny came next to the old alchemist and with concern asked, "Is that berry poisonous or something?"

"That bloody vine is the sole reason for my doom" said the old man with sighing with a hint of resentment and dejection.

"A person long ago told me that this vine will bear black gold as fruits."

"So what happened?" asked Danny.

"Before he could tell me anything more, he was killed my nut jobs from Baimum Theocracy" said the old man while smoking his pipe.

"I can help you with extracting black gold of this old man", said Satvik while wiping his tears and snot.

Haldi observed him for a while and said while puffing out smoke towards him, "sure you jest."

"I know how to harvest the spice from this plant" said Satvik with a satisfied smirk.

Haldi's eyes widened in shock. The person who told him about the spice plant was dead and no other person knew that these fruits can be processed into a spice.

Haldi rushed towards Satvik and held both of his shoulder and asked in a pleading voice. "Do your really know how to do that?"

Satvik felt nauseous due to the unbearable stench coming for the old guy, but he bobbed his head in affirmation.

Now the old man was in tears and used his sleeves to wipe out his snot.

He had already used all his wealth to discover the way to process these fruits and turn them into spice. He had almost given up.

He thanked the Gods for finally hearing his pleadings.

Satvik stepped away from the old man and said, "It will take around a month or so to process these."

The old man smiled and said, "I've already waited years, I'm pretty sure I can wait a month or two."

Satvik nodded and then questioned, "So what is in it for me?"

"I'll buy you lots of candies and toys. No matter how much you want" said Haldi with a smug.

"Sheesh! Do you think I'm a kid who will be happy with candies and toys?" questioned Satvik while fuming.

Haldi's expression changed to a confused one's and he then looked at Danny.

Danny just laughed dryly and shrugged his shoulders.

Haldi sighed, looked back at Satvik and questioned, "Okay what do you want in return?"

Satvik looked at him with a sneer and said...
