35. Who is the evil woman now? (1)

Kelly turned the knob in her room where shabby furniture was attached to a relatively narrow area compared to other rooms.

The Women International School’s opening ceremony was a week away, and for that reason, she had more days to meet with Her Majesty.

These days, Kelly would arrive at the mansion during the evenings and whenever she entered her room, she would always check something habitually.

“Check the third drawer of your desk every day before dinner.”

Ariad Pearson had told her that but she didn’t believe her.

However, ignoring her calm warning as if she had the power to predict the future made her feel uncomfortable.

As the sun was setting, the orange light from the window shone on her old wooden desk.

Kelly searched the third drawer that had been locked and opened the first one.

When she put the book in the corner of the drawer aside, she found the key.

She was sure of it without opening the third drawer.

“It’s today.”

The key was located in the opposite direction from where her enemies had arranged their trap.

Kelly heard it.

Suddenly, Ariad’s voice came to mind, and her hand holding the key tensed.

“’I’m sure my information will help Miss Kelly. Please trust me just once.”

Ariad Pearson wasn’t just a bad girl who had sex with multiple men according to the rumors.

On the contrary, there was no such thing at all since she had observed her herself.

Kelly unlocked the third drawer with the key in her hand.

There was a crumpled diary, a file of newspaper articles about Joshua and a completely unsuitable jewel next to a worn pocket of money.

It was a big diamond necklace.

Ariad’s helpful information was correct.

If she hadn’t known, the Eurecia Family might have bullied her about this.

“Should I thank you for this?” Kelly murmured, smirking.

Ariad had helped her but she tried to kill her, instead.

Who was the evil woman now?

“Haha.”

Kelly grabbed the necklace, smiling dryly.

She felt like non-recyclable garbage covered in stagnant water.

As her blue eyes scanned the orange horizon in the atmosphere, Kelly hid the necklace in her sleeve.

She had to leave this room before someone knocked on the door.

It was dinner time.

Rosaline and Erica, who had  just enjoyed tea time with their peers, entered the dining room with their colorful appearances.

Erica took off her coat and hung it on the corner while Kelly, who was paying close attention to it, passed by and stealthily reached into her coat pocket to put the jewel hidden on her sleeve.

Then, Kelly greeted Duke Eurecia normally and sat in her designated seat.

Dinner had begun.

The subject of the conversation was exactly what she expected.

When Duke Eurecia settled in for dinner, the Duchess was busy praising her daughters while insulting Kelly.

She did the same old, same old routine as well.

“I heard that Her Majesty, the Crown Princess, collapsed after eating the cake you gave her. How can you not have such basic common sense?” Duchess Eurecia, who was cutting the steak, attacked Kelly with her elegant pronunciation. “You should have looked into it before  giving her a gift.”

“I just did it because your daughters told me to.” Kelly replied dryly.

“Oh, look at her.”  Rosaline broke into the conversation. “Are you blaming us for that?”

The corners of her mouth were raised as if she had just looked into the heart of Kelly, who delivered the cake to Ariad.

“You’re making an excuse.” The Duchess clicked her tongue.

Overwhelmed by the great majority at the dinner table, the Duke shouldn’t have to interfere but he still chose to utter a few remarks.

“I think it’s right for you to go and apologize in person, Kelly.” A low voice commanded her, making her feel sad and inferior.

Kelly chewed her steak until her chin hurt and tried to swallow it before replying. “I see.”

The Duchess and her twins suppressed their laughter before changing the topic of discussion.

Now, it was about a diamond necklace that she had received from the Duke at their wedding.

The whereabouts of the lost necklace and the culprit were already predetermined.

“Didn’t Kelly steal her mother’s jewels once?”

“Oh no! Did she do it again this time?”

“Why don’t we ask the servants to search her room and find out?” Rosaline suggested.

The Duke listened to their conversation while wiping his mouth with a napkin.

The bystander, as always, expressed his permission through silence.

“What do you think, Kelly? You’re so confident that it isn’t you, right? We should check it out at this moment so that you wouldn’t be suspected like this.”

Kelly had no reason to refuse it.

“All right.”

It wasn’t a very pleasant feeling, though.

They changed the topic again once their plan to humiliate her in front of the Duke was already set in stone.

When the meal was over, Erica got up from her seat and picked up her coat.

Everyone’s eyes landed on the object falling on the floor with a gentle thud.

Their eyes widened in surprise when they figured out what it was.

The Duchess’ smiling eyes in particular had now trembled in shock.

“That necklace… Isn’t that the necklace I gave you as a gift?”

The Duke squinted at the diamond necklace on the floor.
