37. Ideal type (1)

Nothing special happened that day.

When moonlight shone in the dark room, a man who hadn’t shown his face for half a day opened the door and entered.

As she peeked at where the sound came from, she made eye contact with Joshua.

So-hee coughed for no reason at the strange silence that followed.

The crown prince watched her as he lifted the pitcher on the table, poured himself some water to drink,, and laid down on the bed.

When Joshua covered both of them with the blanket, his cool masculine scent filled her nostrils.

Still annoyed by his cold judgment and selfishness, Sohee turned away from him and showed him her back.

However, his large hand which had been possessed by the same behavior quickly turned her body to face him.

“Stop it, Joshua,” Sohee said bluntly.

“What?” Joshua’s tone was calm. “Why are  you so annoyed with me all day?”

“I wasn’t. When did I get annoyed with you?”

“Your entire body screams annoyance. You are scowling so hard even as you talk to me.” Joshua’s long fingers gently swept through Sohee’s furrowed brows. “I know that your secret crush, who was about to go to war, had disturbed you so immensely so stop now.”

The sliver of moonlight infiltrating the velvet curtains revealed his gentle countenance.

Joshua was wearing a mask that showed he had nothing to do with Hugh being taken to the battlefield.

Exasperated, So-hee suddenly raised her voice. “You sent him to the battlefield!”

“If he wasn’t a Knight, someone else would have gone in his place.”

No.

Joshua intended to send him there.

“You made Hugh one of your Knights because you knew that there would be a request for support in Montroll later on. You wanted to get him killed in the worst way possible.”

Joshua, who was listening to Sohee, tilted his head at an angle. “How do you know that?”

If she hadn’t exited this world and read her web novel’s current updates, So-hee would not know her husband’s sinister plans.

She was so worried about Hugh, who looked like her celebrity crush, and she felt sorry for him.

No matter how intelligent the crown prince was,  it was also strange for Joshua to see through their activities immediately.

However, she wasn’t in the mood to make excuses for him so she kept saying what she wanted to say.

“How do I know? I can see right through you, Joshua. You must have assumed I was oblivious that you were keeping me in check.”

Her husband’s countenance was unreadable.

Joshua didn’t respond to her weighted accusations and just stared at her purple eyes.

He looked so clueless and innocent as if he had no intentions of admitting his fault at all.

He also showed no remorse for his actions.

Of course, Sohee knew him all too well.

For Joshua, humans were just beings driven by their own needs and desires.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

Why would he feel guilty?

The situation felt even more frustrating when she realized that she couldn’t inject some morals into this huge brick wall of a husband.

“Why are you like this, Joshua? You did something similar to Deon, too. I hate it when you do this. Didn’t I tell you that I will be by your side this whole time? Why do you have to do this?”

Ariad had accumulated all this bad karma, and Han So-hee had to pay for them.

How unfair!

Ariad had to be her web novel’s heroine so had to keep holding on to Joshua’s pants like a cicada on an old tree.

It just pissed Sohee off that she couldn’t defend her position about not meeting other men in secret due to what Ariad did behind Joshua’s back in the past.

As her anger and frustration swirled into one, So-hee became more agitated.

Joshua had been staring at her silently for quite a while now but he decided to open his mouth just then.

He let out a lackluster chuckle before he said in a deep baritone. “What about how I feel, Ariad?

“What do you mean?”

“A person I have never heard of appeared out of nowhere and it turned out to be my wife’s crush. Upon examining your relationship, I found out that you even had sex with him.” He elaborated.

So-hee choked at the mention of Ariad and her sexual history.

She had no idea that Hugh and Ariad had a tryst before.

Who the hell gave him this information?

Was Joshua spying on his wife for a long time?

After the revelation, So-hee was speechless for a while.

Even with Sohee’s cough, he continued to talk as his flaming red eyes glowed in the dark.

“Do you think I should just leave him alone?” His calm, melodious voice broke for a moment, ferociously scratching her ears. “I am not a saint, Ariad.”

“No. You’re not.”

Yes.

Joshua might be furious at the current situation but what So-hee found difficult to understand wasn’t his anger but his cruel solution.

He didn’t have to kill and destroy everything that blocked his path.

Even though she had set the male lead’s character like that, she tried to face him in person.

She found it strange that he didn’t explain himself much and it was different from what she wrote about him.

Even though he was just playing the male lead’s role, Sohee was so engrossed in this situation that she forgot her role as an author for a moment.

The best thing to do was to convince him.
