5. Female Lead, get out of the way! I have to make a living, too! (1)

She jumped out of bed and felt like a rock had hit the back of her head.

“Wow! Why does it hurt so bad? This is a literal pain in the neck.”

Was there any easy way to make money?

Still, So-hee liked this dream quite a bit, so she checked the web novel platform.

No!

What the hell happened?

She found some new releases, but the contents were not focused on Ariad.

Kelly Eurecia, the original female lead character, had already occupied half of the novel.

The heroine’s excellent embroidery skills caught the Empress’  eye and that allowed her to enter and exit the palace as she pleased as an embroidery teacher.

The current novel’s plot also included Kelly’s family scolding her for almost half of the updated chapters which affected her psychological well-being.

“It’s a shame that the comments are getting worse.”

With her forefinger on the mouse, So-hee couldn’t bear to press the comment window so she clenched her teeth and just did it.

As expected–

[I had no idea what the author wanted to write anymore. Why did she stop her flow and write about Kelly all of a sudden? How could the author be so greedy when she could just tell the story in an interesting way with just Ariad?]

[Not funny at all. I’m leaving.]

[The writer had lost her mind. I  followed her lead but this novel is just trash. I’m leaving this book.]

“No, guys. I didn’t want to write like this either.” So-hee cried as she read their comment boxes filled with swear words.

Then, she saw a comment written by [DEON_OHH_MY].

[Save Deon, please! Make my Deon the Male Lead. Don’t drag it.]

“If I take all these comments into consideration, my novel might as well go to the mountains or the sea.” She said under her breath as the word ‘leave’ floated in her head, urging her to give up.

As So-hee scrolled down the comment section, she would see someone say that she was leaving her novel.

“You guys! Just get out of this book, then. Don’t hurt my heart anymore!” So-hee screeched and exhaled a deep sigh.

A message was uploaded in front of her from the bottom of the screen.

[Author! ^^ Your novel readers had left so many times already. Perhaps, you should change the female character. Sadly, some of your fans wrote a lot of nasty things behind your back, but seriously, please consider revising it^^]

“Yes, I had planned to fix it, as well.”

She was just glad to hear that she made it this far.

If everyone knew that she made this novel from the pain of blood trickling down her head, they wouldn’t dare tell her how easy it was to change everything.

So-hee blew the bangs plastered on her forehead out of frustration.

“How can Ariad become the Female Lead?” She thought about that carefully as she read her web novel on the monitor.

She couldn’t really describe the strange phenomenon where Kelly, the supposed heroine, showed up on her own and narrated half the novel.

Her story seemed alive and well.

It was selfish, too, that So-hee could already predict the next episode.

Kelly Euresia will come to the palace and meet Joshua there by accident.

It was such a good opportunity for their love to sprout.

“The first thing I need to stop is—”

The original male and female lead couldn’t meet!

* * *

“You seem different.”

Joshua gave her a cool glance the instant she opened her eyes.

So-hee found herself settled on a large bed with golden interiors.

“Don’t look at me like that. My mind and body are already weak.”

She tried her best to be indifferent to the Male Lead, but his statuesque beauty and perfection made the area around her heart even more tingly.

“I am glad that you are mentally and physically weak. I don’t think you’ll be able to get out of this room for a while.” Joshua informed her coldly.

“No!” So-hee shouted in dismay. “I have work to do!”

Joshua stared at her with indifference.

“I know. You want to die. Again.”

“It’s not that. I have to take care of something far more important. My livelihood is at stake, Joshua!”

“You’ve gone insane, Ariad. Just eat the food next to you.”

When Joshua turned his back on her, she tried to get up from the bed to catch him but she suddenly felt intense pain all over her body that she could only groan.

“Argh!”

Upon examining her limbs properly for the first time, So-hee noticed that one of her arms and feet were wrapped in bandages, including her forehead.

If she tried to exit her web novel once or more than thrice, it wouldn’t take long for her to turn into a mummy from the pyramids.

After hearing her agonized scream, Joshua turned toward her.

His calm expression shifted into a grimace.

“What’s wrong?” Joshua asked in concern as he stared at her snow-white face.

How could she stop him and Kelly Eurecia from meeting each other?

Should So-hee act critically ill in front of him?

“Joshua. I know it’s a shameless request, but can you feed me?”

Yes.

She must cling onto his trousered leg for now.

“You’re so shameless, Ariad.”

“Yes, I know. I’m left-handed, and I currently have a bandage on said hand. How do you expect me to eat?”

“I already know that you’re right-handed.”

“Wow! You seemed more interested in me than I assumed, Joshua! This was just another clever way for me to starve to death so I want to test it, you know? Wouldn’t you agree?”

“Huh?” Bewildered, Joshua ran his hand through his dark hair and quickly sat on a wooden chair beside the bed.

Later, he approached her as if he would feed him a spoonful of soup.

So-hee smiled, satisfied that she had created a beautiful scene suitable for her romance novel.

Yet, for some reason—

A maid suddenly entered the room without reading the atmosphere and announced, “Your Majesty, the Empress asked if you could join her for lunch.”

So-hee glowered at the maid to compel her to shut her mouth.

“You must come with me, Ariad. There’s someone I would like to introduce to you.”

Her nostrils flared nervously because she knew who the hell it was.
