Chapter 158: Workout & First Impressions

Lee Seng spent the last hour and a half being roped around with Ritsuka, doing upper body exercises. Lee Seng managed to pull himself away from Ritsuka and hop onto a manual treadmill for the last forty minutes of the workout session. Lee Seng mindlessly ran for forty minutes before his eye caught onto Ritsuka standing in front of his treadmill, glancing left and right.
Lee Seng slowed to a normal jog and plucked an earbud out. He was drenched in sweat and looked around to see people avoiding his gaze.
"Yeah, what's up?" Lee Seng asked.
"Oh, you, uh…" Ritsuka trailed off. "You wanna go? I'm done with my workout. I just wanted to know if you were ready or not."
"Oh, yeah. I'm good. I was just waiting for you so I decided to get some miles in." Lee Seng slowly came to a stop and lifted his gym shirt and wiped the sweat off of his face. "Mind if I take a shower first before we head back?"
"Mmm, I was about to ask you the same thing. Let's go." Ritsuka pointed. Lee Seng and Ritsuka started their way back to the locker room. As soon as they moved out of the workout room, Ritsuka leaned over. "Dude, how fast were you running? You literally made that machine so loud, people turned to watch you run."
"I was running fast?" Lee Seng asked.
"Mmmhm, you were! You were going at least twenty-five miles an hour or so! How many miles did you do?"
"I did like… almost 25 miles?" Lee Seng recalled. "I just had a lot to process so running helps me process. Probably why I spaced out and didn't see you until the end."
The two turned left into the locker hallway. Lee Seng noticed the gyms were in use and students were training.
'I guess the Academy does live up to its name. These students are working hard even after classes have ended.' Lee Seng thought. Ritsuka opened the locker room and walked in. The locker room was quiet. Ritsuka pulled off his shirt and fished for his phone in his pocket. Lee Seng moved past Ritsuka's locker row and pulled his shirt off.
He punched the code into his locker and listened to the locker beep and flash green. The locker popped open and moved towards the showers to grab a towel. He went back to the locker and stripped all of his clothes off and wrapped himself with the towel before stuffing the locker with his dirty clothes. He shut the locker and walked over to the showers.
Lee Seng spent the next ten minutes showering. He wanted to cool himself down before he headed back to do homework. He turned the shower off and listened to the water drip off of his body. He stuck his arm out and grabbed the towel and dried himself off.
"What're you gonna do after this?"Ritsuka asked.
"Probably just do the homework and if I have time, read." Lee Seng answered. He wrapped the towel around his waist and made sure it would hang around his waist before pulling the curtain back. "What're you gonna do?"
"Probably hit up the cafeteria first and then do homework." Ritsuka pulled the shower curtain and appeared in front of Lee Seng. Lee Seng moved out of the showers, whistling.
"You wanna see if the others wanna study with us?" Lee Seng asked as he turned to go back to his locker.
"You ask them. They're probably wondering where we are. I didn't tell them we were gonna workout."
"Alright." Lee Seng punched the code into his locker and pulled his sweaty gym clothes off. He pulled his boxers out and slipped them underneath the towel before removing the towel. He put the student uniform back on and collected his things. He unzipped the bag and stuffed his gym clothes in there and zipped them back up.
'Clothes, bag, phone. Where's my phone?' Lee Seng removed his shoes and found his phone sitting in the back of the locker. He grabbed the phone and slipped it in his pocket.
"Looks like that's everything." Lee Seng patted his pockets and looked back at the locker one more time before shutting it. He sat down on the bench and slipped his shoes on.
"Ready?" Ritsuka asked.
"Mmm, I just finished." Lee Seng stood up and wandered to the exit. Ritsuka popped out and joined Lee Seng. The two exited the locker room and wandered down the hall.
"So, how was the first day of school?" Ritsuka asked. Lee Seng shrugged, grabbing at his backpack strap.
"I guess it was everything I thought it would be." Lee Seng answered. "An extra class means we spend more time in this building at the end of the day. It's practically dinner time if we workout after class."
"Sounds like a great schedule to me."
"What about you? What did you think about the first day of classes?"
"Advanced general studies are going to be interesting. History is going to be one of the few things I'll struggle with but I think getting some tutoring wouldn't be a bad idea. As for the Fighter class, I think I'll learn a lot. Those runs to the end are hard, though. It got hard around the twenty foot mark."
"I just can't believe I reflexively released a gravity bubble."
"Do you do it that often?"
"Mmmm, more like I panicked and did it. I'm not used to doing it." The two popped out to the main hallway and turned right. Students were thin in the main hallways.
'They must really be training or doing homework.' Lee Seng and Ritsuka continued talking about their day and all of the homework they had to do while heading back. Lee Seng pulled his phone out and realized there were a couple of messages from the group chat.
OO: School's out!
ET: *happy cry gif*
ET: Thank god.
OO: Hey @Ritsuka @LeeSeng, you guys wanna meetup?
OO: Hello…?
ET: @LeeSeng @Ritsuka
LS: Oops, @Evan @Olivia. Ritsuka wanted to workout so we worked out.
LS: What're you guys up to?
OO: At the dorms. It's dinner time. Y'all wanna eat?
LS: About to ask you that too. Let's meet up at the cafeteria then (ET, RY, OO have liked this message)
Ritsuka slid his card and opened the back stairwell door. Lee Seng moved past him and moved over to the first floor door and opened it. The two moved down the hall and turned right. The sound of Third Years chatting away grew louder.
"Oh, y'all are here, already?" Olivia asked loudly. Lee Seng and Ritsuka turned around. Evan and Olivia met with the two boys.
"Just got here." Ritsuka cheerfully answered.
,m "And hungry." Lee Seng added.
"How was working out?" Evan asked.
"My arms feel great!" Ritsuka pumped his biceps and Lee Seng spun around and started walking towards the cafeteria.
"How about you, Lee Seng? Did you workout with Ritsuka?" Olivia asked.
"I did for most of the time. The last forty minutes I decided to run on their nice manual treadmills." Lee Seng answered.
"Get this," Ritsuka leaned into Evan and Olivia. He looked back and forth between the pair and Lee Seng before whispering, "He ran like twenty-five miles in forty minutes. He's a crazy beast!"
"Wait, you can run that fast?!?" Evan asked, surprised.
"I know right?!? That's what I was saying!" Ritsuka loudly spoke. Lee seng stopped in front of the cafeteria and spun around.
"I like running and I am a supered Biohuman. I'm probably the fastest non-speed powered Biohuman." Lee Seng shrugged.
"The serum really powered your human capabilities to the MAX, didn't they?" Ritsuka shook his head. They actually looked a bit disappointed that they didn't get so lucky with their superhuman capabilities.
"Eh, you win some and you lose some. Let's eat before I have no time to do homework." Lee Seng motioned. The group moved into the cafeteria and different smells of food flooded Lee Seng's sense of smell. "What to eat this time?" Lee Seng asked himself as his stomach grumbled.
"I'm gonna go with the same ol, same ol' meal after a workout. Some chicken." Ritsuka smiled. Lee seng rolled his eyes. Lee Seng moved to stand in the burger line. He tapped away on the big screen and decided he wanted to eat a triple patty burger with mayo and ketchup. He tacked on two large servings of seasoned sweet potatoes and mozzarella sticks. Lee Seng paid for his meal and waited in line for his order.
"Order for Lee Seng!" The cashier called out. Lee Seng moved over and grabbed his tray of food and thanked the worker. He moved to grab two large cups of water before looking around for his friends. He found them sitting near the huge glass window. Ritsuka was standing and looking around for him. Lee Seng made it halfway before Ritsuka found him and waved him over.
