Chapter 577: Empowered Wolves

Water whipped outwards, cutting a deep mark on the ground as the three wolves split apart. Keng landed on the ground, spinning himself as he raised his leg up to meet the furless wolf coming at him. His foot and the wolf's arm connected, coming to a complete stop as a burst of energy billowed from both of them.

'This one's different from the rest.' Keng thought as gravity flew out of his foot, pushing the furless werewolf back. Werewolves screeched as they burnt to a crisp. They dropped like flies as the drums grew smaller. Lily pulled the flute away, music playing as she lifted her hand. Pink energy swirled inwards as more wolves rushed towards her.
With a single turn of her hand, a blast of sound fired in all directions from the drums. She began to conduct the drums, forcing the wolves to take a more careful approach to her. Keng turned, displacing into the drum circle. He let out a sigh of relief as he watched the wolves struggle to push through.
"There's a special one." Keng informed her. He watched her as she continued to conduct. Lily had done something like this when they first met. She had protected Commander Chimera's people. The sound waves sliced through the wolves, spilling blood as their bodies quickly healed it. It was slowly doing damage to them, but it wasn't as effective as her fire.
Lily stopped conducting. She pulled her hands together and sucked in a deep breath. In an instant, Keng could feel the heat radiating off of her.
'Now that I think about it…' Keng thought as fox-fire wisps appeared all around them. 'I've never seen her actually fight like this.'
"Break through the darkness." Lily began to verbally cast her spell. The wisps grew bigger as a silence momentarily fell upon the battlefield. "Purge my enemies in holy fire… Twin Flame!" The wisps fired out as soon as Lily threw her hand forward. The wolves flew forward, howling in unison.
[Pack Defense has been casted.]
The gray glow of the wolves grew as they flew out of the magical darkness. Fiery pink wisps flew in every direction, catching unlucky wolves on fire. These wolves howled in pain, quickly dropping.
'She knows holy magic spells, too?' Keng thought. 'When did she— She's always been reading books in her off time from the library. It was then.' Wolves rushed past the drum, leaping upwards as they raised their arms upwards. Hydrosphere shrunk as Keng raised his right hand up. His index and middle finger stuck up as the dagger pointed sideways.
"Sphere of Hydran."
The wolves slammed into the water barrier, catching themselves in the water as fires lit up all around them. Keng lashed forward, releasing a blast of cosmic energy at the first wolf he saw. The wolf exploded, raining chunks and blood as he continued firing blasts at the wolves around them.
Lily gasped as she looked around them. The magical darkness had faded and a couple wolves seemed to be left. The pink fox-fire wisps had seemingly done there job. They had killed the wolves, but they also absorbed the strange effect on the field.
'It did work like the books said.' Lily shifted in her spot, wobbling as her back foot caught her. Her entire body felt tired. Her eyes drooped. 'I used too much energy. Now the Negative is taking effect…' She forced herself with all of her remaining energy to stand. The battle wasn't over, yet. Another blast of cosmic energy flew out, killing the last wolf caught in the sphere.
Keng released the sphere of water, flushing the blood and chunks of flesh away from them. Three large furless werewolves circled them, watching them.

One of the werewolf's lifted their hand, an almost invisible effect washing over them as they slowly circled Keng and Lily.

The tallest furless werewolf amongst the three turned first, stopping their circle. It locked eye contact with Keng as it let out a low growl. The other two werewolves followed suit. The extended their arms out as a magical darkness swept around them. The air around Keng distorted as a bead of sweat sizzled on him.
[Resonance State has been achieved.]
Two wolves rushed at them while one stayed behind. Keng moved to Lily's side, plucking a roe out of his Void Storage and into her hand.
"Eat it." Keng told her. The wolves jumped over the drum line on opposite sides. The third wolf raised its hand and began to chant something as magical darkness began to grow thick around it. Lily complained under her breath as she took the energy roe. Keng stuck his index and middle finger upwards, marking the two wolves with [Marked For Death] before a starry liquid shield grew to the left and right of Keng and Lily.
The wolves slammed into it, instantly shattering it as Lily gulped the roe down. The starry liquid shield fired outwards, pushing the wolf nearest to Lily away as Keng turned and lifted his daggers up. The werewolf slashed down at his shield, shattering it and swinging another attack.
Keng went flying as a drum fired itself at the wolf. The werewolf deflected the attack, shattering the drum as the other drums circled around Lily. The werewolf slashed at the drums, denting it easily as Lily pulled backwards.
Keng hopped onto his feet, dashing forwards. The caster werewolf in the back pulled the magical shroud away, revealing a bolt of lightning flying straight for Lily.
"Lily!" Keng shouted. Lily lifted the drums higher as the bolt made impact. The drums exploded as Lily flew backwards in smoke. Lily hit the ground as lightning coursed her body. Keng began to turn when the second wolf blocked him from venturing further. Keng swung at the werewolf, only to be met with its arm. Hydrosphere scrapped against the werewolf's arm like chalk and finger nails. Keng groaned in pain as the other melee wolf slashed at Keng's side.
Keng stumbled backwards as a flurry of blows from both werewolves came at him. Keng staggered backwards as the werewolves stopped. The werewolf to Keng's right pulled its claws back as it plunged its arm straight through Keng's body. Keng's body flickered in an instant, dissipating as he appeared off to their right, thirty feet away.
Blood splattered as Keng wrapped himself with light. His body was becoming heavy as he forced himself to turn. The two melee werewolves were looking for him. Lily's body was unmoving as lightning crackled around her.
The caster wolf howled, alerting its allies where Keng was. The two melee wolves turned to look at him, launching forward. Lightning crackled in the caster wolf's hand as it fired it straight for Keng. Keng braced for impact, raising his arms up as a large screech echoed all around them.
The wolves shrieked in pain, stopping what they were doing as Keng turned and pointed Hydrosphere at the lightning bolt.
"Devour." Keng ordered the blade. The blade pulsed, absorbing the energy as a sigh of relief flew out of Keng's lips. The wolves continued to shriek as Keng's eyes moved to the melee wolves. Lily was barely up with her hand pointing outwards. Shrieking sounds escaped her hand, causing the wolves to temporarily stop what they were doing.
"Resonance," Keng planted his foot onto the ground, shattering the stone beneath him as his blades glowed bright silver. "Quickflash."
Shing! Shing! Shing!
Keng appeared behind the melee wolves, swiping the dagger downwards in the air. The wolves exploded in blood as they dropped to the ground. Lily's eyes rolled back, her body dropping into the ground. Keng turned as a starry barrier appeared around her.
"You rest." Keng whispered, turning his attention to the caster wolf. It shook its head and took in its surroundings. Its fallen allies were dead and it a similar conclusion to the Fox Spirit's female companion.
[Marked for Dead was placed on Caster Werewolf.]
Keng disappeared from view as the caster Werewolf drew lightning into its body. Lightning arced from its body, slamming into Keng's blade as he appeared. The werewolf grinned as it turned its head. A bolt of lightning flew out claws as it pointed at Keng. The lightning hit him, pushing him backwards. Keng rushed forward, sending a slash of gravity out as the caster raised a lightning shield.
The shield cracked in an instant lightning fired out of it. Keng raised his own shield, feet sliding backwards as he pushed against the energy. Lightning arced around him, trying to find a way in as Keng's feet dug into the stone. A smile grew on Keng's face.
"I haven't been able to do this in a long time!" Keng shouted at the werewolf. The ruby and sapphire eyes glinted at his enemy. "Can you stay alive long enough?"
