Azrie Part: 2/2

There was a brief second of confusion.

At that moment, an ant tried to bite my sides off with shiny pincers, and it finally clicked, the guardian had actually run away. A snort left me as I grabbed the spear and put my mana into the shaft to turn it into a make-shift sword, I still felt sickly but it was quickly going away. My eyes darted amongst the different types of ants, being honest, I held no desire in fighting an army of them.

[Suvia Ant. Lvl. 23]

[Suvia Ant. Lvl. 19]

I scanned through twenty of them, and then I saw one—much smaller than the rest, half of their height, just big enough to reach my waist. A smile crept across my face as the only thought became progress.

[Suvia Worker Ant. Lvl. 10]

I hopped and bashed an ant downwards. Cutting into its head shallowly I lunged over it and went into an immediate slide, the momentum took me straight towards my target as I redirected the mana into the spear-tip, aiming for its head, it had no time to react—the spear effortlessly pierced through the ant as the slide came to an end, as soon as it was formed, the encirclement was broken. The worker ant was dragged along with me, pierced; its insides melted. I took out the spear and looked once more.

[You have killed: (E) Suvia Worker Ant. Lvl. 10]

Finally, at the end of the formation I saw more worker ants.

[Suvia Worker Ant. Lvl. 9]

[Suvia Worker Ant. Lvl. 5]

I jumped over an ant, pushing it behind me with my hands. Two ants tried to jump at me, but with a lack of coordination the ground caved and I got to slide beneath them. Three ants came and tried to bite me but they slammed against each other and failed pathetically. The ants seemed awfully uncoordinated compared to before, which made my job a whole lot easier. One had its frontal two legs cut, the other had its head cleaved with a slice, and the last one was simply pierced on the head. The ants at the moment were slow, and didn’t use too much magic for whatever reason. It did not take long before I cleaved my way to a group of workers and began to stab away; dicing, slicing, and splicing between cuts and sweeps.

They quickly fell, like a chain reaction of smoke, they were cut, corroded and killed.

[You ha…

The notifications became nothing but a blur as I made my way through every single worker ant I could find. Some were stabbed through their whole body, others were split in half, and some others were the unfortunate collateral damage of the normal ants trying to kill me between slides. And— then, I was awakened from my trance of slaughter as a notification resounded in my mind.

[Till They Bleed (Uncommon E) — Progress (41/40) (Completed) Would you like to receive your reward?]

I quickly dodged out of the way, distancing myself from most ants with a slide. I teetered between accepting the rewards or not, but just feeling the cold stone beneath my feet made me accept the reward and reaccept the quest once more. I wasn’t in danger to the ants, not when they were sluggish and practically drunk.

Soon a bright light surfaced on the cave, and it changed in a myriad of colors before forming itself into a pair of boots that I grabbed from the holes, their insides had thin fabric, but the outside was— I moved out of the way from an ant. The outside was dry and white, the soles were—smooth of the same material, but were laced with holesl. I distanced myself from all the ants with a slide.

[Er, Blair?] Glim called. [We might want to go back to the cave before we start loot checking.]

I stopped myself from checking the boots and asked the obvious. “Why?” One could say I was being conceited, but all sense of danger had vanished when I witnessed an ant accidentally kill a worker ant with a chomp.

[Well, generating a reward causes a great disturbance of mana you see—]

The cave rattled, a very familiar rattle of death and bones, of spikes and ice, a cold one that resounded hollowly heralding its resurfacing. At the very far distance I saw a pale light— Guardian Worm.

I snorted to myself checking my mana, sliding and putting on the boots in the duration of the slide. They simply slid over my dirty feet, and soon I felt warmth spread onto the coldness of my skin. I rolled away from a stray ant, but it didn’t take long before red enveloped the area I was just in. And soon, the cave chilled, blue shone behind me, and a shiver ran through my spine as a bunch of notifications came.

[You have assisted to kill: (E) Suvia Worker Ant. Lvl. 11]

[You have assisted to...

[You ha…

There was no level up, but there was one soon to come. I stared into the distance, the giant worm was already making its way here, and its body— oh it’s body — my mana was now full, and I was ready to fight; the Worm Guardian? Its body too was filled with blue blood, ice covered its body but it too was tainted a deep sea blue, I saw deep gashes and cuts hastily buried in ice.

The worm shrieked, its spikes rattling, and it turned to me ready to unleash a frost hell. Normally I would've run, but this time I felt confident. I could do it. I smiled. Last thing I wanted was for it to run away.
