In a flash, it was the weekend again. Ye Yuqing got up early, finished her work for the day, and then started packing.

Everyone agreed to meet in the afternoon, so she had plenty of time.#pleasereadthischapteratfoxaholic.com

The haunted house wasn’t open until six in the evening, but she was looking forward to it because it was so mysterious.

Also, because Li Che was going to be there.

Her college classmates picked her up first, before going to Li Che’s hotel to pick him up.

While driving, Zhou Yanyan asked a question, “Why’s your friend staying at a hotel? He isn’t a local?”

“No, he’s only started staying there recently.”

“That’s strange. Why not just stay at his home instead of living in a hotel?”

Ye Yuqing smiled before answering, “Perhaps, he’s tired of living there and just wanted a change of scenery.”

“That’s a possibility.”

Five minutes before they arrived at the hotel, Ye Yuqing messaged Li Che.

She informed him that he could come down already.

Ye Yuqing was shocked when she saw Li Che carrying a 16-inch black suitcase.

Why is he bringing luggage for a one night stay?

Ye Yuqing looked at her bags before looking at his. She realized that he really was a very meticulous person.

When Zhou Yanyan saw Li Che from the driver’s seat, her eyes lit up!

‘Dammit! How is Ye Yuqing friends with someone so good-looking?!’

When she saw him, he made her feel like she was dreaming. He looked like he was a part of those boy idol groups.

It was her first time to personally see such a stunning man. If Ye Yuqing had told her about him, she would have dressed better.

Ye Yuqing got out of the car with a smile, “Put your suitcase in the back, and then sit in the front.”

“You’re sitting next to me, handsome brother.” Zhou Yanyan was very enthusiastic. Ever since she laid her eyes on him, she couldn’t look away.

‘Ye Yuqing is still so lucky that her ex-boyfriend was already handsome, but her current one is even more attractive!’

‘It’s not obvious on the surface, but she’s quite capable.’

Li Che looked at the couple already seated at the back, before calmly saying, “Ye Yuqing, you sit in the front, and I’ll sit at the back.”#pleasereadthischapteratfoxaholic.com

If he lets her sit at the back, the man would be sandwiched between two girls, which would be awkward for him because his girl was already seated by the window.

Zhou Yanyan was speechless for a moment, before trying to persuade him, “Yeye’s thinner so the three won’t be too cramped at the back. Also, because of your build, you should be the one who should sit in the front.

Li Che bent over and took his seat at the back.

“No problem. It’s just an hour anyways.”

This five-seater car had a lot of space.

Ye Yuqing hesitated for a moment, before taking the front passenger seat, because she knew she couldn’t dissuade Li Che anymore.

Her view was much wider thanks to her sitting in the front. She took out her phone to send a WeChat message, as she wasn’t comfortable expressing her feelings in the presence of so many people.

“Thank you very much, brother! You are very kind~”

When Li Che saw her message, his lips perked up and his mood lightened, but he didn’t say a word.

He didn’t even reply. He merely turned off the screen and shut his eyes.

Zhou Yanyan drove the car smoothly down the road, and would occasionally sneak peeks at Li Che using the rearview mirror. She saw that he had his eyes closed and was asleep.

She smiled before asking, “How did you two meet?”

Ye Yuqing didn’t want to tell her that they met at a bar, so she said, “I met him when I went out to dinner once.”

“What does he do?”

“Still in graduate school.”

“Oh? So…” After a bit more than ten seconds, Zhou Yanyan finally continued, “…He’s younger than you?”

Nowadays, when high school students went out to play, they also wore makeup and curl their hair, and oftentimes they’d dress so maturely that it was hard to tell if they were 18 or 30.

“That’s a no. He already graduated college for two to three years before going to graduate school.”

Li Che leaned back on his seat listening to them talk about him. Sometimes his eyelashes would quiver, but he never opened his eyes.

…………

After driving for an hour and a half, they finally arrived at the hotspring hotel on the outskirts of the town.

It was a Japanese-style hotel with rustic and natural decor.

The plants in the central courtyard were beautifully arranged, together with glossy cobblestones and plenty of trees.

The hot spring was located at the back of the garden and could accommodate up to 20 people.

There weren’t many guest rooms in the hotel because the owner requisitioned most of them for script-killing*. This was another means to make money because script killing has become so popular recently.

*Note: Script-killing is a fad in China that combines (live action) role-playing, escape room mechanics, and sometimes even some haunted house scenarios. I (bracketed) the “live-action” part because only the most harcore script-killing enthusiasts will “larp” when playing this game. Script-killing can also be in the form of an interactive, choose-your-adventure board game, ala DnD style.

There was now another group of eight people, in addition to them.

So there were a total of 16 players because this was a large-scale script-killing!

Two groups would play together because playing with random people was more fun.

After they finished their meal, everyone began talking about who does what role.

The theme for today was “Beauty Heaven”, a scenario from ancient China.

There were beauties in heaven, but each of them had an evil side.

The setting of the story was the elegant Jiangnan Pavilion, where beautiful, pure, and honest women were kept in.

The famous Beauty Grand Prix was held every year and attracted guests from all over the world, with the winner being given the title of “Famous Beauty”.
