Juda wore a hoodie and hid her head completely as for the face she decided to wear a mask. Tian had gifted her this. It was actually Yue's. It didn't fit her mouth properly and slipped off now and then when she spoke.
"You ready?" Lui came out of her room wearing a bandana and sunglasses. She too was wearing baggy clothes and a thick coat. "I've taken twenty meal tokens just for an emergency, I think we'll spend about ten or five,"
"We need to take some food. The market works in barter system and they won't accept any of the base provided meal tokens." She mumbled, picking up a small bag of instant noodles in her space. "Are we really seriously buying.. 'that'"
"Of course, we are buying a dildo," Lui confidently said the word aloud.
Just hearing that word, Juda blushed like a young maiden. "Is it really necessary? I'm sure... Tian and I... don't need that.. I think,"
"You'll need it," Lui patted her shoulders. "Come on," she wore her dirty boots and they both stepped out of the small individual house.
For the first time, Juda felt like she was independently having a time of her own. These past months she only left the house to go to work or to go to Yue's house. Never anywhere else. She barely had time to explore this place.
They walked past Yue's house and towards the barricade.
Now that they were walking a completely different road it felt exhilarating. She excitedly held Lui's arms.
The market was right near the housing district. The place they lived was the military district where the mainly only military family lived in.
These houses right next to the border of their new settlement were owned by farmers and small business owners lived.
There were many small stalls selling miscellaneous things, from diapers milk bottles to small pickle jars. Everything was being sold. Most of the people setting the stall looked like they were barely holding on. They looked so malnourished and tired.
Juda tightly gripped Lui's arm.
They were fortunate. If they hadn't met Yue in their college they would have had the same fate. Or even worse fate than this.
"Oh, I found it!" Lui happily hopped over to a small stall with small pink boxes.
Juda was completely mortified. 'Can I just bury a hole and hide underground?..'
Somehow she felt that many gazes were focused their way. It felt weird and uncomfortable.
Lui was in her zone. She was happily looking at the small boxes and was even bargaining the price of it.
"Lui... I think we should go."
"No this one is good," Lui picked up a vibrator happily. "it will work great. It will work right?" she glanced at the young lady selling it.
"Of course, it will. I can personally assure you the quality is top-notch. That's why it will cost you ten Tokens."
"Ten? Too high, I'll give you three. Not more not less,"
"Lady we are doing business here not charity. Please don't lower the price too much," the stall lady started to shout at them.
Juda was feeling even more uncomfortable. The gazes increased. It felt like the whole market was looking their way.
She felt the small hair in the back of her neck tingle.
"Lui, can we go home..."
"Wait. Fine, I'll give you four. That's all I can do. Four meal tickets,"
The lady glanced at them, once and nodded. "Take it."
Lui happily took out the tickets handed four and picked up the small vibrator. "Mission accomplished."
Juda's eyes were only focused on the stall lady. The middle aged lady was intently peering at Lui's pockets where she stored their meal tokens. 'Oh Lui, what have we done...'
"Let's go," she pulled Lui up.
"Wait, I have another product. You might like it." the lady stopped them and started to search in her small duffel bag. "Ah I let it in my warehouse. I'll go bring it. Or better yet why don't you come with me?"
Juda became vigilant. She pulled Lui to the side. "No thank you. we are good," she moved her coat to the side exposing her gun. "Good day,"
As soon as the lady saw that she gulped and nodded. "G-good day to you too."
Juda dragged Lui away.
"Why? I was interested. She could have had a good dildo."
"Stop whining, can't you see? That woman was looking at your purse." Juda silently whispered into her ear. "Let's leave quickly to Yue's house. Some people might even follow us home if we go there directly,"

"I got it. Let's go," Lui happily held the bag up.
As they were walking away, three thugs peered at them. "That them?"
"Yea boss. That girl had so many meal Tokens. It can feed us for days," the smaller man said, licking his lips.
"We can also sell the girls for a good price." the taller one whispered.
Their boss silently looked at the girls. "Let's follow them for now,"
They watched as the girls walk through the street happily shopping. After a while, the girls entered a small abandoned alleyway.
The boss secretly crept close and took a look at what they were hiding.
"Give it here, It's so embarrassing," the black-haired girl touched the plastic bags. It instantly disappeared.
He was shocked. 'We've found a treasure... fuck there has been word that a lunatic was searching for someone like this. Someone who can make things disappear with a touch. it was like magic.'
"Let's go," the girls walked out the alley without any bags in hand.
"Boss, where did they toss their things? Can we pick them up and sell them again?" the shorter one said looking up at him.
"No, that girl made it disappear. It's one of those weird ones. She can sell for a lot. Let's capture her."
"The other bleach blond one?"
"Leave her or kill her. Don't care. I just need the black-haired girl untouched and undamaged. Don't you dare hurt my precious property.. That treasure will feed us for years."
