Yue hurriedly hugged Fan as a zombie came close to his husband. A small bite was felt as the zombie chomped on the metal surface on his hand. Another one bit his back, one bit his legs.
All through this, he made sure that his husband was unharmed. Fan did not have Hary's metal suit on him. Without it, he was susceptible to a greater risk of infection from the bite.
"waaa! Waaaaa…." The baby wail came out as a whisper in his ear. He glanced down at his beloved husband with a hopeless smile.
"do you think this is it?"
Fan Xui gently touched his cheeks. "I love you…" He read his lips
"I love you," Yue let out a soft sob.
Suddenly there was a huge tremor behind them. A hand grabbed them both.
Yue glanced back ready to slice off that zombie's hand. But he froze just as his broken sword reached that person's neck.
Tian did not even bother with his move. She directly grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the zombie crowd. Behind her, Hary was happily shooting down the zombies with a impossibly huge rocket launcher. He was laughing like a maniac as well.
Yue hugged Fan's waist tightly pulling him behind him.
They both reached the hole in the wall. Tian and Hary both stayed behind shooting and burning down the zombies.
"Tian! Come out! Fan and I will try to seal this!" he screamed through all the sound. Even with a half-deaf ear, he can still hear how loud it was getting.
Tian and Hary rushed out of there.
The zombies started to follow after them without any reserve. The gap between the wall slowed them down a bit as they were all trying to squeeze through it at the same time.
Taking this chance, Yue removed his metallic gloves and held the Fan's hand. His secondary power instantly copied his powers.
"Ready for this?" he looked up at Fan.
Fan nodded with a soft smile.
They both held out their hands. A cooling sensation climbed through his veins leading to the edge of his palm. Yue felt an icy shard of ice gush out. Unlike Fan's ice which was free flowing and uneven, his was shaped like daggers shooting at the entrance.
With their combined effort they sealed the hole momentarily.
"Get in everyone!" another scream came from behind.
Yue glanced back to see his parents waving at them vigorously.
"What the hell are you guys doing here!" he rushed to the car pulling a tired Fan behind him.
the door opened for him and little zi Chen smiled up at him. "Get in dad,"
Yue pushed Fan in first and got in the back seat.
"Tian! Lets go!" he shouted, gesturing for the other car to move.
Yue watched his old father try to reverse as fast as he could. But it was relatively slow compared to his driving,
Yue jumped up front pushing his dad to the side. "Get in the back dad. mum in the passenger seat," he gestured for the others to move.
His mum moved back and his dad moved to the nearby seat.
The car sped through the dirt road.
The east side of the barrack was once farmlands but after the apocalypse, they all dried out leaving this place completely barren. Now they did not have the danger of facing mutated plants but at the same time, they also faced the danger of being out in the open ground.
The car behind them drove close by. Juda waved at them vigorously.
Yue glanced at them with a grin. "Why didn't you guys go ahead? We could have dealt with it,"
"Yeah right. I saw how you dealt with it," tin grinned widely. "What is that little thing on you,"
"a baby," he said with a pout. "Someone decided that his life is not important and he had to go and save a little worm-like child," he whispered harshly, but his hand was gentle while holding the baby's hand.
The little child had stopped crying right after they had left the crowd and was watching him with her wide eyes.
Chen suddenly climbed over the stick and sat on his grandma's lap. His curious eyes fell on the baby. "Have a sibling?" he excitedly held the child's hand.
"don't know…." Yue looked at his mum. he gestured to Chen.
The little boy looked crestfallen holding the baby's hand. "she doesn't have parents?"
"no, they died," he said in a whisper.
Zi Chen looked even more saddened by this. but soon a smile rose on his lips. "Can we raise her?"
"yeah, can we, right Yue" his mother also joined him, giving off puppy dog look his way.
"I don't know," Yue mumbled touching the small baby's butt.
Raising a child was not that easy, especially when during these hard times. Chen was not that difficult to decide because he was able to eat and talk when they took him in. but this is a baby they were talking about.
A newborn. She was unable to regulate her own heat. Unable to eat or poo without assistance.
Even the milk powder they had to feed her has to be specially prepared.
'how are we going to manage it? Can we give her off for adoption? Is that even possible?'

"a girl," Yue mumbled glancing at the baby. She too, was looking at him. "let's call her Zara,"
