Not only their tires but all the vehicles behind them were also assaulted by those treacherous seeds. All in all, they were flat-tired, stuck in the middle of a fucking clearing with zombies surrounding them.
It took a lot to not just scream out loud.
"we'll camp here for the night," Fan suddenly added.
Yue glanced back at him. "are you crazy!"
"I'm not. Look back," he gestured to the tree that was feasting on the zombies.
Many other zombies were caught by it and became a husk in a second. A few of the zombies even tried to take a bite and fight back, but it was useless. The tree was completely fuckin overpowering.
"That thing is monstrous….…... Fan, setting up camp close to it is a crazy decision..." Yue mumbled softly
"I know..." Fan patted his back gently. "But that tree can't starch its branches too far. if we stay a bit away from it we can use that as our added layer of protection from the zombies. plus, we obviously need to change our tires. we have no other choice but to camp here,"
Since the zombies nearby were dealt with by that tree it gave them a bit of time to prepare for their temporary camp.
The safest distance was at least a few meters away from that weird tree.
The vehicles were all parked in a neat circle. The earth ability users from all the vehicles came together to dig up a huge pit as deep as Twenty meters down.
Fan Xui hurriedly jumped down from the car and reinforced the bottom of the pit with sharp shards of ice.
"Let go of me! Let go!" a sudden scream shocked them all.
Yue rushed out of the car. he was very familiar with that voice. It was Hary. He was shouting and creasing loudly.
He rushed to Tian's car to see her manhandling the man. Hary was pinned to the ground with a seat belt tied all around his torso.
"We have to save him... please... he can't just die. I can't let him die like this…" Hary screamed while sobbing loudly.
"What is he talking about?" Yue silently whispered to his sister.
"Prisitsky. What the heck happened to that man!" Tian glared up at him.
Yue felt strangely attacked for no reason. "He is sleeping in the car."
Hary rose to peer up at him. "y-you're not lying? Is he alive?"
"Yeah, he is with my dad and mum. What is going on? Why are you crying huh?" he squatted down and gently patted his red tear-stained face.
Hary let out a sudden laugh. "He is not dead?"
"Yes, he is not dead So calm down. Tian, untie him. Let the man see his lover,"
Tian hurriedly untied the seat belt off him.
Hary bolted out of there as if his ass was on fire.
Yue sighed. "He seems to be aware of Prisitsky's ability."
Tian just raised a brow. "He made that tree? What's so special about that? Dad can grow tres faster, taller and stronger than that,"
"No, his ability is different. That tree… don't underestimate it. ii get a weird feeling that that tree spared our lives only because we had Prisitsky with us,"
Tian shook her head. "Each day it's getting weirder and weirder,"
"True that but I guess I used to it"
They heard the sound of shouting in the corner. Yue knew exactly who it was. He and Tian hurried to that spot. their parents were waiting out the car with awkward looks on their faces.
"Do something," his mum urged and carried baby Zara and a sleeping Zi Chen with them.
Hary was holding Prisitsky on his arm delicately and shouting at him. "Why did you do it! I told you not to! Why! Why did you do it!"
Prisitsky who was wide awake, did not answer him. he simply looked away into the distance.
"Answer me!" Hary grabbed his face and made him face him. "Why did you use that thing? I told you not to Prisitsky! So why!"
The young scientist simply raised a brow. "Because I wanted to,"
"y-you… you…" Hary clenched his chin. He lowered his head, hugging the man on his lap. "Why did you have to be this way…"
Prisitsky coldly pushed him away. "Let go. I don't feel like doing it today,"
This was the breaking last straw, Hary who had been shaken to the core just froze in that spot. "d-do you think I am telling you this because I want to do it with you? prissily… look me in the eye… can't you see my feeling for you,"
Prisitsky coldly looked his way. "I see a young man who is slowly driven crazy. Now let go," he rolled off his lap onto the back seat. "Ah Yue you are here. come in, did you get any blood or skin samples from those cattle? It can really be beneficiary for my research."
Yue stood by the car door silently watching Hary. 'Poor man, he has it bad… why is Prisitsky acting so cold to him. he seems like he was worried for Hary back then, so why…'
Hary got out of the car like a broken doll. His stuff back was slouched down. He looked defeated as he walked away.
"You are being cruel. That man loves you more than anything in the world." he peered at the cold-hearted person disappointedly.
To his surprise, Prisitsky laughed. "I know."
Wordlessly Yue sat down next to him on the back seat and closed the door. "And you like him too."
"I know, right…" he chuckled with ears teaser streaming down his face. "I shouldn't have… I never should have met him. he... he shouldn't be close to me."
Yue was stunned silly. He hurriedly took out a piece of tissue and helped wipe his tears off. from the first day till now he had never seen Prisitsky crying like this. it was heartbreaking and shocking to witness. "Why do you think like that? you love him. He loves you what is stopping you both,"
"That….." Prisitsky pointedly looked at the tree. "I can't be with him, Yue. He will die if he continued to be with me."
"Are you scared you will lose control of your abilities one day?" he tentatively whispered as he moved closer.
Prisitsky just looked his way. "I am really losing control. this thing inside of me wants to devour everything…. It won't spare him."
"Isn't there a way to control it? my dad can control plants maybe he can control that too."
Prisitsky just shook his head. "it's useless. That thing is too powerful. No one can control it…" he held up his wrist. His veins were still green, moving around like a snake. "it's already going on a rampage inside of me. I can't stop it. according to my research, it's going to completely devour my energy in about a year."
The young man looked his way with a deprecating smile. "I won't live for long... I want him to find someone else. A healthy person who will love him completely and utterly,"
