Whist packing his bags, Zou Yue glanced at the calendar. It was April 1st. There was only thirty-one days before the apocalypse. The first asteroid will strike on May 1st.

His mother worriedly glanced at him from the bed. "Baby, if what you said is true than it's too risky. You have to take your weapons." she stood up and picked up his bag of arrows from under his bed. "Maybe a sword will work too..."

she tightly gripped his sleeve refusing to let go.

Zou Yue gently hugged her

"Mum, please don't fret.... I can do this. I will be safe as well. I will find her and bring her back to us." He patted her trembling back gently. "I am confident in my skill. So please... don't worry about me, mother. I can survive this,"

After a long time of consoling his sobbing mother, he left the house towards the airport. H city was quite close. It will only take five hours by road and forty-five minutes by flight. For convenience, he booked a flight.

His mom waved at him with tears in her eyes.

The cab started.

Zou Yue glanced at his parents, who were waiting anxiously by the door, with a small frown. 'Don't cry mum.... don't make me regret my decision. I don't want to see you cry. Please smile,'

He smiled at her widely.

She gave him a forced smile

It was the beginning of April now and by the first of May, the first meteor would crash down earth. The second one will follow after this by the end of that same month.

He tightly gripped the small bag in his hands. 'I have to find her soon... I have to be here.... I have to be there for my parents.. I wish and pray that they will survive. No, I will make them survive... if not, I have no reason to exist. Please god please... let them survive,'

Somehow, he felt like he was running away. Because a small fear still lingered in his mind that his parents might not survive.

Soon they reached the airport. He got into his plane and landed in H city in just under an hour. He caught a cab to his booked hotel room.

He swiftly called up uncle Wen. "Uncle, I've reached H city. I will be staying in a small hotel near the airport."

"I'll book a Marriott," uncle Wen sternly said.

"No, those building are too tall and it's in a crowded location. I much prefer this one. But thank you so much uncle." he hurriedly stopped him.

"kid... this is an unknown place. How can you find a person you lost twenty-five years ago! and the apocalypse is near, how can you put yourself at risk?"

"Uncle, I am doing this because I'm confident. Besides the initial stages are not that bad, but people feared them and stayed in. I will deal with it on my own. And I will try my best to finish my work here and leave before it starts."

"Did you take any weapons?"

"Yes, I did. I brought my crossbow." Zou Yue clutched the bag tightly. He could feel the cold arrow tip touching his skin through the bag.

"Why didn't you take a sword?"

"Crossbow is compact and I don't have to deal with the airport guys,"

This was his contingency plan. In case the apocalypse started way before he could deal with it with this.

But the arrows amount was less.

'I hope the apocalypse never happens but.... I know it is going to.' He glanced at the peaceful blue skies and sighed.

"Butterfly effect... I am causing a lot of changes... but i hope a good kind of change." He whispered to himself.

The cab stopped right in front of a two story building. It looked slightly rundown but still it was a decent place to survive. The top floor was not that easy to access, but it was easy to escape. There was food available in the supermarket right opposite the building.

If in case anything goes wrong, he can easily survive for a few days in this place.

He swiftly paid the cab driver and got into his room.

The first thing he checked was the blinds. At night if there was even a slightest amount of light, the zombies will get attracted to that place. It was better to have thick blinds.

But sadly, the screen was too thin. He removed the sheets from the bed and draped it over his window and checked its thickness again. This time, his phone light did not flash through.

"Good... now all I have to do is find Tian Ai." he sat down on the sofa and started to read through the document.

The orphanage she was abandoned was called 'New hope' it was just a few streets away from his hotel.

"I will go check this place out first...." he changed into his white top and pant set his mum brought for him. The shirt fit him like a loose pillow cover, but it was the most comfortable cloth he had put on.

It gave an impression of ambiguity.

The steers were busty jam packed with cars and cheerful crowd. Most of them were college students.

'Is there a college nearby?'

A quick search gave him all the answers. Indeed, there was a college nearby and there was also a high school.

Zou Yue frowned. 'Shit, why didn't I notice this?'

A large grouped population always ran the risk of easily spreading the virus.

"Maybe I should change my hotel..."

He walked two streets away and reached the spot on his Google maps. 'New hope' he glanced at the place, but there was only a pizza place there.

'umm' he checked his maps again. It was showing that he had reached his destination.

"I think I came to the wrong place.."

Right then, a young pizza delivery person was walked out with his hat lowered.

"Excuse me; do you know where new hope orphanage is?"

The person froze. "That place burned down years ago,"

"W—what"

"I said that place burned down years ago," that person said and got on the bike. "Out of the way, please,"

Zou Yue kindly moved out with a shocked expression still on his face.

'I lost the only lead I have, darn it. This is not an easy task!!'
