Chapter 30

The sun gracefully dipped below the horizon, signaling the end of another day. Stall owners packed up their belongings onto wooden carts and began the journey home. Stores closed their doors and enabled cheap magical alarm artifacts and the more wealthy stores even had weak magical shields appear around their doors and windows.

Although many shops and stalls were closing for the day, taverns and brothels opened up to prepare for the long night. In a particularly popular road in the commoner district in the eastern wing of the city, a black carriage rumbled along the road.

The ladies on the street in undergarments, despite the chill of the January night, stopped and stared at the bizarre sight. Compared to a normal wooden carriage this one was made of metal and there was not a horse in sight.

As it moved through the street it left a trail of water in its wake, causing the frosty ground to become a swamp of mud. A few drunks emerged from a tavern and slipped on the muddy ground, cursing the carriage owner's mother as they fell.

The brothel workers shouted to the carriage with sweet words, while the drunks hurled curses, yet the people inside paid no attention to the outside world.

The carriage moved with decent speed down the dimly lit road, causing some people to jump to the side before they got hit. “Fuck your mother!” one drunk youth screamed as he ate a face full of mud. The carriage answered by covering him in freezing cold water as it drove past.

The youth couldn’t stand this treatment so, despite his drenched clothes clinging to his skin, he stood up and tossed a nearby rock at the carriage. Everyone’s eyes widened in shock as they watched the rock sail through the air.

Sure, they were all angry at the treatment, but anyone who could afford such an unfathomable carriage would be a High Noble, Royalty, or A grade mage. In this dog eat dog world, nobody dared to offend the strong. Laws only applied to normal people like them, if an A grade mage murdered them on a whim who would stand up for them? Who could bring their dead soul justice?

Just before the rock hit the carriage, it appeared to hit an invisible wall. The youth's eyes widened in shock. The carriage was a magic item? Was it enchanted with a shield?

But suddenly the rock rebounded towards him. The drunk youth sobered up instantly and dived to the side. “What the fuck? Since when could shields throw rocks at people?” The youth screamed in fright. He cursed his drunk self for daring to throw that rock.

Despite the fact the youth dived to the side, clear of the rock's trajectory. The rock suddenly changed course mid-air and followed his head to the ground. He managed to feel the danger of death looming over him and cover his face. Both the youth's arms broke upon contact with the rock that had some mystical force controlling it.

He howled out in pain as he tried to move his two useless arms that were shattered and mangled messes. Despite the horrifying howls of the youth the carriage didn’t slow down and continued its journey.

The residents began to shout to each other “Don’t attack the carriage! Let it past!”, they all believed the owner of the carriage had let the youth off with a mere slap on the wrist. If he cannot afford the treatment he will remain a cripple for life but at least he was still alive. So what if he was made to eat mud and drenched in cold water? That was just his fault for standing in the way, nobody could find fault in the carriage owner. The strong were always right in this world.

Damien let out a slight smirk in the carriage and Fay gave him a weird glace. “I know that face, you did something bad, right Master?” Damien just gave out a light chuckle and didn’t reply. Fay just looked out the window onto the dark streets and laughed as she watched people scrambling to surround the carriage and shout for her master's attention. She sneered in her heart, ‘You are all just livestock for my master. Do you think he will join you in bed and have your children? Stupid whores, stop dreaming.’

Fay stopped her train of thought and was stunned, ‘Was I always this aggressive? I’m starting to see all these people as retards and animals instead of humans? Do I think I'm better than them, I'm human too after all… right?’

Although Fay was rather embarrassed by her thoughts she decided to discuss them with Damien. “Master… Can I ask you something?”

Damien opened his eyes, his body subconsciously frowned from being woken up from his rest but he nodded to her.

“I have been noticing changes recently… I see humans as livestock or lesser beings to me.”

Damien's eyes shot wide open. “When did you notice these changes?”

Fay shifted around in her seat, she had never had such an intimate conversation with Damien before, “Ever since you dominated Imyrll…”.

Damien heard Walter shift around nervously in his seat but paid him no attention. “Hmm my blood magic did increase to D grade, but I never tried to control you with it”

“Do you feel obligated to follow my orders?” Damien asked with curiosity. Fay shook her head, “I don’t but I like following master's orders…”

Damien leaned back into his seat and contemplated deeply. Only the sound of water rushing through pipes, the turning of the wheels, and the distant shouts from outside could be heard at this moment.

Suddenly Damien looked at Fay, “Would you say you understand how I see the world?”

Fay seemed confused at first but after thinking in silence for a moment she slowly nodded her head.

“I feel like I can understand you at a deeper level recently. Before I knew you acted certain ways and accepted it and you being you. But now I actually understand it rather than just empathize with it. I feel disgusted towards other races. Before I dreamed of having a prince charming coming to save me and living happily ever after with a family. But just the idea of having sex with a human… my body just rejects the idea, as if I would be fucking a pig.”

Fay let out a deep sigh. She felt a mess mentally. The fact she was comparing humans to simple pigs was disturbing and she didn’t know how to feel about it. ‘Is this why master never laid hands on me? Does he see me as a pig too?’ Fay sadly thought.

Damien nodded and then said, “But you don’t feel an urge for blood, right?”

Fay responded while licking her lips, “No but I can smell it, I can tell who are virgins from the smell of their blood alone now… but no I don’t feel an urge to drink blood. Normal food still seems the best for me. Wait… am I becoming a vampire?”

Damien tilted his head, “No. Becoming a vampire is impossible, we have different biology from humans. Although we look similar, on the inside we have completely different organs and digestive systems. I suspect you are becoming a Blood Queen.”

Fay tried to think of the name but came up blank, “What's a Blood Queen?”

Damien sighed and explained, “A normal vampire can bear children with another vampire but it’s different for the Noble vampires such as myself. Noble vampires are the evolved version of normal vampires. Due to this evolution, our genes are too different from normal vampires and they can no longer bear our children.”

Damien then showed a disgusted face, “The Noble vampire's solution to this was inbreeding amongst themselves. I personally have no interest in fucking my little sister Vanity so I decided not to go down that route.”

Fay was also a bit disgusted. Vampires were monsters at the end of the day. They lacked the social standards that humans have developed. Damien sure was different compared to the rest of his race.

“But there is actually another solution, it's just one that the noble vampires refuse to do.” Damien continued, “Vampires kidnap humans and use them as ‘blood slaves’, they corrupt their minds so they obey their orders and they use them as a portable food source and sex toys against their will.”

Fay shuddered. She realized Damien had done this to her a few weeks ago, she remembers being under the control of blood magic and having her mind become hazy.

“However if a Noble vampire doesn’t use his blood magic to control the blood slave’s mind then the blood affinity mana enters the person's bloodstream with no purpose.”

Fay shuddered slightly, “So your blood mana has been circulating around my body this whole time? Why doesn’t it destroy me?”

Damien grinned, “Because your body doesn’t see my mana as invasive and therefore doesn't fight against it.”

Fay blushed with confusion, she doesn't reject it?

Damien then added, “Sometimes the body reacts faster than the mind. Your body has been absorbing my blood affinity instead of destroying it. By doing this, your body is slowly changing to become the perfect partner for me. You will never become a full vampire because I need you to produce blood for me to drink, but you will gain the mentality and strength of a vampire. In fact, your talent with blood magic will also increase. That is what a ‘Blood Queen’ is. A human evolved to serve a Noble Vampire.”

Fay was stunned. How was she supposed to react to this information? Perfect partner? Becoming part vampire?

“Was this your plan all along?” Fay couldn’t help but ask.

Damien firmly replied, “No, and neither will I force you. I simply used you as a blood slave but stopped mind-controlling you because I felt I should trust you instead. It was your own body that decided to use my blood affinity mana to begin the transformation, I had no input in the matter.”

The car went silent for a while. Damien closed his eyes and slept while Fay looked out the window at the dimly lit muddy streets. Her heart was beating wildly and her mind was a mess. She needed a drink…

Walter's nervous voice broke the two out of their little worlds, “Young Master we have arrived at the blacksmith.”
