Chapter 141 – 1992-2020

Lian Qiao jumped out of bed in a hurry, stepped on the severed hand in a murderous mood, rushed to the door and opened the door.

“Are you okay—ah!” A scream came out and Little Apple could be seen outside the door. As soon as the door was opened, she saw the crowbar being thrown at her head. The worry on her face instantly turned into panic, which made her raise her hand to fight, “Wait! Calm down! It’s me!”

The crowbar pierced the air but stopped just before knocking Little Apple into two pieces.

Lian Qiao’s pupils shrank suddenly and it was difficult for him to adapt to the light in the corridor. He subconsciously wanted to raise his hand to cover his eyes but found that he was holding RenDong in his left hand and the crowbar in his right hand. The crowbar was still dripping blood and he couldn’t spare his hand to cover his eyes.

He had no choice but to squint his eyes, look at the crowd of people in the corridor, and ask coldly: “What?”

Little Apple took two steps back in shock, patted her chest and said angrily, “Should I be the one asking why? You want to kill someone?!”

Lian Qiao stared at everyone coldly. His murderous aura was still intact and the crowbar in his hand was still stained with flesh and blood. One look at him could tell that he had just gone through a lot of killing. Everyone was shocked by his expression. After a while, only one person spoke weakly.

“We, we heard noises in your room, so we came to take a look…”

It was the long-haired aunt who spoke. Auntie Long Hair was very experienced in raising children and has put a lot of effort into taking care of Little RenDong, so Lian Qiao has a good impression of her.

At this time, Lian Qiao gradually recovered from the killing spree. He finally realized that something was wrong with him just now but he couldn’t say it just like that, so he could only pull out a stiff smile.

“It’s nothing, it was just a ghost.”

Everyone turned pale instantly.

Lian Qiao didn’t intend to scare them, so he added: “I’ve already beaten it to death.”

Everyone: “…” Damn it, the ghost was beaten to death by you, how ruthless you are!

Seeing that everyone’s faces became more ugly, Lian Qiao felt extremely tired. He didn’t want to bother with it anymore, so he retreated into the room and said, “It’s all right now, go back to sleep.”

He was about to close the door when a hand came through the door. The long, slender arms and fair skin reminded Lian Qiao of the ghost hand that he had beaten away just now.

A sense of disgust suddenly rose in Lian Qiao’s heart and he couldn’t help frowning. Looking up, it was Little Apple who stopped him.

“I don’t feel at ease after thinking about it.” Little Apple’s eyes were full of worry and it didn’t look fake. “The key player is in your hands, in case there is any accident…”

Lian Qiao interrupted coldly: “There will be no accident. I will protect him with my life.” Then he was about to close the door again.

Little Apple attempted to squeeze in half her body and said, frowning, “I’m not questioning your feelings for him, but your power alone is limited after all. Wouldn’t it be better for everyone to stay and help?”

Lian Qiao’s mouth twitched into a sneer. He glanced at everyone arrogantly and thought: What help are you guys?

However, when these words surfaced in his mind just now, he was startled.

How could I… have this kind of thought…

When did I become like this?

Lian Qiao was surprised by his weird state of mind but his face remained calm. He pretended to be persuaded, reluctantly allowed Little Apple and Aunt Long Hair in and said, “Then you two stay. I can’t trust the others.”

The other people didn’t even have names and thought that there probably wasn’t much allocated in the script to them, so they all headed off angrily. {Author loves to break the fourth wall…}

It was certain that Lian Qiao’s actions aroused the disgust of everyone. But he didn’t care either.

Everyone protected RenDong, but only because he was the key player. When the critical moment came, they would sacrifice RenDong without hesitation. These people are not trustworthy.

He kept Little Apple and Aunt Long Hair behind. Firstly, he felt that Little Apple had a straightforward personality, simple and direct, and secondly, Auntie Long Hair had experience in raising children, so that he would not make the deadly mistakes of a novice parent.

So the three of them went back to the room and locked the door again.

The three of them were vigilant for a while and found that there was nothing unusual in the room. It’s been a long night and they can’t spend every moment like this. They needed to take some time to rest.

Fortunately, there was still a bed in the room. Little Apple and Auntie Long-hair can squeeze   together, so there is no problem. Lian Qiao was no longer sleepy and paced back and forth in the room with Little RenDong in his arms, seemingly trying to put Little RenDong to sleep, but in fact he was thinking why he lost his composure just now.

This was not the first time.

He found himself in a… strange state sometimes. There was a faint surge of hostility in his heart  and when that hostility broke through his reason and surged out, he couldn’t control his actions at all.

Lian Qiao paced back and forth, gently shaking the baby in his arms like a robot. However, Little RenDong seemed to have sensed something was wrong and never fell asleep. After an unknown period of time, Lian Qiao came back from the trance, only to realize that Little RenDong had kept his eyes open, staring at him steadfastly.

“Can’t you sleep too?” Lian Qiao lowered his voice and glanced at the other side of the bed. Little Apple and Auntie Long-hair are already asleep.

“Ah, ah…” Little RenDong still couldn’t say a complete sentence but just stretched out her fleshy little hand, trying to reach his face.

Lian Qiao hooked his mouth and bowed his head to meet his little hand.

The palm of a child who has just turned one year old is warm and soft, like a ball of tender buns just out of the oven. Lian Qiao enjoyed the feeling of RenDong stroking his cheek very much. He knew that RenDong had sensed his strangeness, so he was comforting him like this.

But at the same time, there was a complex sense of anxiety in his heart.

If only RenDong hadn’t turned into a baby.

If at this moment, I could really hug him, listen to the powerful heartbeat in his chest, and smell the familiar fragrance of shower gel on his body… that would be great.

Or…or at least hear his voice.

At this moment, Lian Qiao was confused, eager to hear RenDong’s calm and steady voice. Even though RenDong was only three years older than him, even though sometimes RenDong was more fragile, paranoid, and childish than him but, in his heart, he still relied on RenDong.

Just like RenDong also gradually began to rely on him.

They have identified each other as their only companions. It has nothing to do with age, experience, money, status, and those things. They just simply depended on each other.

He missed his RenDong.

Lian Qiao lowered his head deeply and pressed his face against RenDong’s little face. Little RenDong blinked slowly and his thick and long eyelashes scraped across Lian Qiao’s face like a small brush, itching him.

It was hot.

Was Lian Qiao crying?

It didn’t seem like he was really crying. It was just like being a confused little beast, desperately shrinking its body into its lair, trying to find even a little bit of comfort.

“…” Little RenDong opened his mouth but he couldn’t say anything after all. He just raised his little hand and hugged Lian Qiao’s head with difficulty.

Then, he kissed him on the forehead with a “chirp”.

Lian Qiao: “!!!” Instantly revived with full blood!

Little Apple beside him was groggy and seeing that the two were still at it, she couldn’t help but said: “Aren’t you going to sleep yet…”

“Yes, yes, yes, sleeping now!” Lian Qiao smiled like a silly son of a landlord’s family. He obediently ran over to turn off the late and bounced back to the bed.

Little Apple: “???” It’s over, the problem in this person’s mind seems to have worsened.

Will it be okay if we sleep in the same room with him?!

So now it was Little Apple who suffered from insomnia, trembling all night, and did not fall asleep until dawn.

When the first ray of sunlight shone into the room in the morning, a line of subtitles popped up in front of everyone’s eyes:

“1994.”

Little Apple immediately opened her eyes, thinking: Thank god this night was over. Just as she was feeling relieved, when she turned her head, she saw an even more terrifying scene.

RenDong split open.

Molted.

“Aaaaaaaaah!!!——’

“What’s the matter?” Everyone hurried over when they heard the screams. However, the door was locked, so everyone had to worry outside.

Lian Qiao showed a “what’s the big deal” look in his eyes and lowered his head to carefully arrange the baby RenDong’s swaddling clothes.

His body has grown a lot bigger than before and the swaddling clothes can no longer hold him. It’s time to wear children’s clothes.

Lian Qiao opened the door and explained clearly to everyone. Everyone didn’t have the chance to see the scene where RenDong split in two, so they naturally felt that Little Apple was making a fuss over nothing. Even the long-haired aunt comforted: “Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, it’s a good thing to grow up! This shows that we are getting closer and closer to the instance clearance!”

Little Apple: “…” Auntie, if you didn’t sleep in and woke up earlier, I guarantee you will be as energetic as me right now.

Lian Qiao went to the principal to ask for children’s clothes. The principal was not at all surprised by the growth rate of RenDong and happily helped Lian Qiao change clothes for RenDong.

Whilst  the principal changed RenDong’s clothes, RenDong was obedient and clever, like a little angel. But when Lian Qiao wanted to change his pants, Little RenDong firmly held down the diaper and said word by word: “I, do it, myself!”

Lian Qiao was overjoyed: “You can talk !”

RenDong: “En.”

Lian Qiao: “It just sounds a bit lispy. ”

RenDong: “…” Can I fucking not know that I’m lisping?! How can this be my fault?!

Lian Qiao laughed and opened RenDong’s small mouth to see how many teeth he had grown. The tender red gums are almost full and there are only two front teeth left, no wonder he was lisping.

Lian Qiao felt that Little RenDong was extremely cute at this time. He held his little face and couldn’t put him down. RenDong was also very dissatisfied and pushed him away angrily, saying: “I go to the to-let!” {Umm he’s lisping, dunno how to express his.}

Lian Qiao: “I will accompany you.”

RenDong: “No!”

As he said that, he grabbed the underwear that the principal had prepared for him and ran into the bathroom unsteadily.

The door of the toilet slammed shut but Lian Qiao was not unhappy at all. Instead, he looked at the toilet like an old father, his eyes were full of kindness, and he was quite a pervert.

The principal found a few more sets of children’s clothes, all of which were old and had been washed white, obviously taken from the other children who couldn’t fit them anymore. The principal said apologetically: “We only have these old clothes, can you just make do for now.”

Lian Qiao took the clothes, caressing the patch with cartoon patterns on it, thinking tenderly in his heart: Maybe this is really the clothes worn by RenDong?

Thinking of this, he unconsciously raised the corners of his mouth. There is tenderness in the eyes and eyebrows.

The principal saw him like this and, although she was curious, she didn’t ask him about his relationship with RenDong. It can be said that she was a very restrained NPC. The two sat on the bed and the principal taught Lian Qiao to fold the children’s clothes, chatting casually about the weather, food and other topics.

After a while, Lian Qiao suddenly turned his head to look at the bathroom, frowned and said, “Why hasn’t he come out yet?”
