215 Chapter 215: Evolution
Alex sat in silence as he closed the file with a stern look on his face. If anyone were to view this great city of Estos they would think it is a race recovering pretty well from the calamities brought upon them by the Danites but none would guess these people were in for something far worse than the Danites.
If there is something he cherished about this race, it is their transparency in government and probably the absolute faith of the people as well. Just thinking back on how people reacted to him when he came out in public it was clear that these people already knew the possible outcome of their small civilization, yet everything still runs the way it should, and everyone doing their part. He was stunned to realize that these people shouldered all of this weight and acted like nothing bad was happening.
That’s why when he came into the picture, he became the hope of the people and they all let out their feelings to him. The feelings bottled up for so long! Fear and anxiety with a small pinch of doubt!
Such a life is not what he expected. Especially since the place looked prosperous.
Alex’s prolonged silence was like a hot iron pressed on the back of these elders. Now he has gone through everything, it was time for his response yet he remained silent
Why wouldn’t they feel insecure?
“Has the alliance made attempts to reach you guys?” Alex asked calmly. His face returned to its normal, emotionless state which calmed the hearts of these people.
“Once. It was a warning, to surrender to the alliance and become one of the subsidiary races under their banner. Since we are too weak, we cannot be guaranteed a place amongst the leaders right now” Jalic Gale said with a frown.
“How long before they arrive?” Alex asked.

“They gave us a century... We were ordered to form capable fighting Units within this time or face complete annihilation. We have been struggling but as you can see things are slow and we have less than two decades left to honor their orders” Jalic Gale said with a sad look on his face.
“Honor their agreement? Tear it apart and worry not. When they arrive, the first person they will meet is Alex Briggs... I want to see who dares touch the people I choose to protect.” Alex said confidently and slowly stood on his feet.
“Let them come” He said in a casual tone but that word alone carried a lot of power as it relieved the worry in the minds of many.
“There is no more time to waste, take me to the blue meteorite, we have much to do!” Alex said and the elders quickly led the way.
They got into an elevator which began descending at a terrifying speed. While it was descending, Alex wasn’t bothered about the shaky elevator instead he was focused on the second passing by. After what seemed like roughly four minutes, the elevator finally showed signs of slowing down and when the doors opened, Alex found himself in a locker room.
He watched the elders pick up what looked like discs from lockers and when placed on their chests a protective suit which looked similar to that of astronauts formed around them. Alex simply took off his jacket and proceeded forward without hesitation.
All His life he has dreamed of this moment, getting his hands on the blue meteorites that made the human race evolve and not just any power core or anything but the real meteor!
He walked through the next door after the elders and he saw what looked like a tunnel leading somewhere. The tunnel was so deep, that Alex and the elders walked for close to two or three minutes before reaching the end. Right there the elders expressed their reluctance to go any further and Alex really understood why.

Alex gazed at these messages and chuckled. Just as they said his body is still mixed with the genes of Jaric Gale who is allergic to this thing differently. So seeing his body reject it meant little to him!
“Have Damnation rebuilt? Just like before with no new modifications of color or something. Can you do that?” Alex asked with a frown.
“Yes!...” Jalic Gale said hastily.
“Then don’t wake me up until a year has passed. Only then will I have the strength to make the first move.” Alex said while shrugging his shoulders.
“Whoever Alex Briggs has chosen to protect, not even God can harm them. Keep that in mind while you wait... I never fail” Alex revealed a sinister grin before walking forward.
His words were like soothing melodies, lifting the restlessness and burden in the hearts of all those who heard him. It wasn’t because they believed him but because the confidence in his voice was just too much to ignore.
Entering the next room, Alex could have sworn his heart skipped a bit.. this is a massive underground chamber big enough to hold a meteor within. He finally realized how deep below the ground they went and a smile bloomed on his face. Before he could only get this far by using minor power cores and all that but now the main power source that gave them their abilities is right before him, why wouldn’t he be excited?
His eyes lit up in power as he sat in a cross-legged position but it wasn’t on the floor but in mid-air. He remained seated in mid-air as he raised his hand towards the massive meteorite and it glowed violently as a powerful suction force erupted!
With the mixed genes of a human and an Estos, the best the blue death can do to him is give him a headache but it won’t be able to kill him. Meanwhile, his matter absorption technique is able to push his abilities to the next form, now his gravity powers have reached the SS ratings it needed an upgrade to break into the Baron level!
His eyes were like two bright touches as the energy began racing into his body and he quickly cast the bronze statue technique and the Demon-kin technique all at once.
Bam!
Loud eruptions could be seen on his body as he occasionally spat out mouthfuls of blood but even then he maintained that position and didn’t retreat. With the pure energy he was absorbing, he could easily heal his wounds.
Seeing the wounding and healing process Alex was going the elders couldn’t help but draw in a cold breath. Only a machoist can withstand all of this and laugh while practicing! His strength was rising but at a cost!
They quickly left the area and sealed it for a year just as Alex had ordered! No one knew what to expect after a year so he should have enough strength to start the expansion of the city.

Within the rooms alone, Alex was like a black hole, pulling the blue mist into his body. But this wasn’t the same as the other times! Before he was just using the power forests as a source of energy, but now he was in a room with the blue death capable of rewriting the genes of a man.
It may not be as obvious as it should be but Alex could feel it regardless. He could feel his body evolving. Not just his body but his genes. Seeing this, Alex frowned. He originally presumed he would be able to convert the entire blue mist into useable energy which he can use to strengthen himself but that wasn’t what was happening right now, it was far from it!

Alex spat out a mouthful of blood as his body retreated. He could clearly understand what was happening right now and he didn’t like it. His body was undergoing an evolution it shouldn’t go through. He couldn’t help but think back on Africa’s strongest deviant, Ahiak who underwent the second evolution. Not only is his physical appearance changed but his mind was no different from that of the monster now, it felt like he was always in a constant battle for his sanity which terrified people.
Should this forceful evolution take place, Alex wasn’t sure of what he would become but only he knew it won’t be pretty!

At the same time, his demon-kin secret technique began rumbling violently. It felt like a very loud heartbeat surging dangerously beneath the earth, almost everyone in the city could hear it, leaving them alarmed!
