Chapter 41

Rosena spent the day doing her usual chores.

She woke up early in the morning and wrote a reply to the letters that she received after a simple meal.

It was around lunch when she finished all of them, and from then, she looked at every inch of the Prince Palace.

There were no longer glaring, big areas that required fixing, but there were still small areas that could use some work.

After a rough examination, Rosena left the building to feed the animals.

Arriving at the backyard, Rosena looked at her favorite flower garden and shook her head.

“It’s strange.”

She felt that the flower garden was a little empty, though it had been fairly rich with flowers up until yesterday.

Is it an illusion?

Rosena shrugged after a moment of contemplation.

It was the backyard of the Prince Palace that was rarely visited, no one could have stolen the flowers.

Rosena watered the flower garden with a watering can and headed to the corner of the backyard with a feeding bin.

As she stretched out her arms, the birds flew in quickly.

Cats, dogs, and even the small roe deer. Animals that lived in every corner of the Imperial Palace fortress snooped around while birds picked up the nuts.

There was a separate area for grazing in the Imperial Palace fortress, but hungry animals often went out of the grazing area due to poor management.

Rosena, who was feeding the animals, was told of what had happened in the Imperial Palace through the animals.

Today, a maid tripped over a stone while carrying laundry, and an errand boy was scolded for stealing snacks at the Second Prince Palace….

Very small stories came to Rosena’s ears.

Among them, stories about the emperor and empress occasionally mixed in, but the energy of the two was so strong that the animals only told her what they saw from afar.

Rosenna didn’t listen to stories about Yerhan and Illian on purpose.

There must be a secret between the two, and it felt like she was sneaking a peek at it.

Knowing Rosena’s thinking, the animals didn’t talk about Yerhan and Illian.

Rosena, who listened to the animals silently, opened her eyes wide.

It was because of a story told by a cat living in a stable.

“Really?”

The cat answered by wagging its tail.

“Thank you.”

Rosena stroked the head of the cat that told her the story. A light ‘nyaaa’ came out as if the cat found her touch on its brown fur to be pleasant.

Rising up, Rosena thought she’d go check what the cat said.

Rosena immediately returned to the palace and prepared for a brief outing. It wasn’t a long way out, so a minimal amount of grooming was enough.

Rosena, who was ready, came out of the building. Then she noticed Yerhan walking across the garden.

Yerhan also hurried when he saw Rosena.

Yerhan quickly asked, looking at Rosena who dressed as if she was going out.

“Where are you going?”

“That….”

Rosena hesitated. She was worried about what she heard from the cat earlier in the backyard, so she was going to check for a moment.

Yerhan knew that Rosena could communicate with the animals. But she was a little reluctant to tell anyone what she heard from the animals.

But Yerhan waited long enough for Rosena to tell him, and Rosena finally confessed.

“Actually, earlier, I heard something from the cat in the backyard.”

“May I ask what it’s about?”

“It said that your horse is hurt…..”

Yerhan looked a little surprised.

“In fact, the horse has been refusing food for days, and we don’t know why. We have to leave tomorrow right away, so it’s a little difficult.”

Rosena was troubled for a moment.

She was not a vet. But she could figure out where it hurt through a conversation.

“May I help you?”

“Of course.”

Yerhan folded his eyes slightly, smiling.

The two walked side by side in the garden.

Rosena felt it was a hardly realistic scene because it was extremely rare for them to take a walk during the day.

Rosena looked up at Yerhan walking right next to her. It seemed like their relationship had changed a little since the day she went to the county.

Before then, she felt it was difficult to be near him, but these days she felt closer to him.

Rosena and Yerhan completely escaped the palace and headed for the breeding ground.

There were several animals wandering over the fence. Inside the breeding ground, there was a wooden stable.

The stable was used to care for horses entering the Imperial Palace, where the best horses were selected separately and sent to the stables of the Imperial Palace.

Before entering the stable, Yerhan said cautiously.

“It’s a little dirty.”

“It’s okay.”

Rosena didn’t care much about getting her dress dirty.

Rosena, who went into the stable, looked around.

The sunlight from the small window warmed the straw bed, and horses were taking a nap.

As Rosena stepped into the stable, some of the horses that had been tied cried as if they were pleased.

Rosena stroked those horses lightly, walking inside, and immediately spotted a black horse.

“This horse, right?”

“Yes.”

Yerhan was amazed at Rosena’s ability despite having seen it several times.

Rosena bent her knees to make eye contact with the horse that was sitting.

“Is there something wrong?”

A man came out of the stable. He was wearing boots and gloves.

The man who saw Rosena stopped and opened his eyes wide. It was because there were very few women who would come into the stable.

Walton, the stableman, spotted Yerhan standing next to Rosena and ran straight over.

“You, Your Highness?”

Then he looked at Yerhan, wondering if he had come to look at the horse.

“That’s… it is still refusing to eat….”

Walton lowered his head, glancing at the black horse.

The stableman had an attitude that was as if he was dealing with a fearful opponent. It made Rosena feel strange.

Yerhan is a prince, but he is basically quite friendly.

“I don’t think it’s hurt anywhere, but why is it like this…..”

When Walton blurred his words. Rosena slowly straightened her posture.

Walton naturally turned to Rosena. But all he could do was tilt his head because he didn’t recognize who Rosena was.

“It’s my wife.”

Upon Yerhan’s brief words, Walton hurriedly bowed his head.

“I, I greet Your Highness the Princess.”

Rosena waved her hand lightly to the greeting. The imperial orthodox way of greeting was excessively long, and she wanted to avoid doing it in the stable.

“Umm, what’s the matter…?”

Walton glanced at Rosena. He was dying to see what brought her to this stable.

Most noble ladies were forced to avoid the stable, saying it was dirty.

Even when they were riding, they were given horses prepared at the equestrian court.

“Can I take a look at this horse?”

“Wh, why would Your Highness….”

Walton answered immediately with an incredulous expression, and then shut his mouth.

Yerhan’s gaze from behind was terrifying.

Feeling that his life was threatened, he said, wiping the cold sweat on his pants.

“No, I mean…. I can’t understand it even though I’ve been taking care of horses for 30 years, so…..”

He was talking gibberish, and his voice trailed off as he looked at Yerhan.

Rosena stroked the mane of the horse. It was sitting silently, then the black horse let out a small cry and licked the back of Rosena’s hand.

Rosena, who heard the horse cry quietly, turned her head toward Walton.

“You should call a farrier.”

“What?

A farrier was a horseshoe maker, to protect the hooves.

She wants him to call a farrier again just a month after changing the horseshoes?

“I changed the horseshoes a month ago.”

“Did you check the hooves?”

“Yes, I did.”

It was safe to say that he really examined every inch of its body. But he didn’t notice anything strange.

Rosena added an explanation to such a Walton.

“Only one foot has severe wear and tear inside, so its leg must have been strained a lot.”

“That….”

Yerhan said as he blinked incredibly.

“Call the farrier.”

Walton, who had hesitated, left the stable at the behest of Yerhan.

And soon after, he came back with the farrier. He still had a look of disapproval and incredulity at Rosena’s words.

The farrier, who had been called suddenly, immediately checked the black horse’s hooves.

Walton, who stood behind and watched the farrier, shook his head. It was him who had cared for horses for 30 years.

He changed horseshoes a month ago, and he checked every time he had time. So it was clear that Rosena was barking up the wrong tree.

“I’m gonna have to ram the horseshoe again.”

When the farrier said, Walton immediately turned his head.

“You’re going to ram it again?”

“A while ago, my student worked on the horseshoes, and there must have been a mistake. It was barely noticeable, but Her Highness saw it well.”

Walton opened his mouth wide at the horse. Rosena was exactly right.

But Rosena, not surprised, just watched the horse with a calm face.

“It must have had a lot of leg strain. It’s very picky, and uncomfortable with the slightest difference.”

Walton’s mouth gradually widened as he heard the farrier’s subsequent explanation.

Rosena, who was watching the farrier ramming the horseshoe again, felt a heated gaze.

As she slowly turned her head to the source of the gaze, Walton was looking at her with sparkling eyes as if he had met an idol.

“You’re amazing!”

Walton shouted with excitement.

Rosena looked at Walton with a puzzled face.

Then he got excited like a boy who met an idol and started rambling, complimenting her.

“In fact, I thought I knew the animals better than anyone. But Her Highness made me aware of my ignorance.”

Walton’s sparkling eyes poured on Rosena.

Rosena, who was still listening to Walton, became embarrassed.

Walton apparently misunderstood that Rosenna knew animals well.

It wasn’t very wrong, but Rosena was more of a conversationalist than familiar to animals.

Rather, Walton, who had cared for animals so far, would have much more basic knowledge.

“And….”

Walton, who had been pouring out praise, rubbed his body shyly, hesitating to continue speaking.

And as soon as he opened his mouth carefully, Yerhan called him.

“Walton.”

“… Yes? Yes, Your Highness.”

“I need to talk to you about going on a business trip, can I see you for a second?”

Yerhan’s face was very fierce, and Walton swallowed his breath without realizing it.

He thought he had made a mistake, so Walton was restless. But he had no authority to reject Yerhan’s words.

While Yerhan disappeared for a while with Walton, Rosena was left with two black horses.

Walton brought her mind back, and Rosena looked still at the black horse.

“You’ll also be leaving the palace soon.”

The black horse cried softly to Rosenna’s murmur.

Rosena used her palm to rub the horse’s face.

“Right, take good care of him.”

Rosena whispered to the horse without energy.

For a month and a half, she hoped Yerhan would return unharmed.

When Yerhan, who had been away for a while, returned, Rosena lifted herself up.

“I’m going back now.”

Yerhan followed Rosenna out of the stable.

Until the moment the breeding ground was completely unseen, Yerhan followed Rosena’s footsteps.

Rosena, who paused, looked back and asked.

“Don’t you have any work?”

“I’m done with my work.”

Yerhan replied, avoiding Rosena’s gaze slightly.

Rosena stared at Yerhan and moved on again.

“Now I’m going back to the palace.”

“I also planned to.”

Rosena wondered.

Even if she went somewhere other than the Prince Palace, would Yerhan return to the palace?

Somehow, she couldn’t erase the feeling that Yerhan was following her.

“Oh, I thought of a place to stop by.”

Yerhan blinked slightly embarrassedly at Rosena’s comment.

Nervousness passed over his expressionless face.

Looking at that face made her smile for no reason.

Rosena barely held back her laughter and shrugged.

“I have plenty of time, so I’ll stop by later.”

Yerhan sighed with relief. He seemed to want to make some time together.

He had to stay away for a month and a half after he went to the expedition.

The two went back the way they came.

There were times when passers-by stopped walking and looked at the two, but they didn’t mind.

Before she knew it, Rosena walked around the garden and looked around.

The thickening of the tree shade created a beautiful shade, and the sunflowers, which she wondered when they would grow, were already as tall as Rosena.

The slightly warmer sunshine began to poke into the skin.

It was a little early spring when Rosena entered the Imperial Palace. But summer was already coming.

Rosena raised her head, somewhat covering half of her face with the back of her hand.

A piece of cloud was floating between the pouring sunlight.

Rosena recalled Astania for a moment.

The weather there was always warm, but in the summer, the sun was not strong and it was not hot.

Since the sea was around, many people traveled to the sea in the summer.

Rosena also liked the open sea, so she used to take Illian on a trip to the sea every year.

This year will be difficult….

Now that she had become a prince’s wife, she couldn’t imagine traveling as normal as any other family.

Discouraged at heart, Rosena slowly turned her head to the edge.

“But why are you here so early today?”

Normally, Yerhan had a lot of work to do, so he was not in the palace at this time.

Yerhan, who had not answered for a moment, slowly opened his mouth.

“Because I’m gonna leave soon….. so I wanted to see your face to be ready.”

“…..”

Yerhan’s serious eyes reached Rosena.

Rosena’s heart fluttered at his honest words. The murmurings and beats of the heart were mixed.

Rosena managed to pull the missing words together and spit them out.

“I’ll see you at dinner anyway.”

She tried to move on naturally, but her voice might have trembled a little.

A cool wind blew from somewhere. The leaves that were not attached to the branches fell like rain.

Rosena moved slowly and arrived in front of the palace, and Yerhan called Rosena, who was about to enter the palace.

“Rosena.”

When her name was called, Rosena blinked in surprise.

Every time he called her name, her heart rattled for no reason, and when Rosena stopped, Yerhan approached.

How close it was, for the sound of breathing reached her face.

What’s wrong with her?

Rosena didn’t know what he was going to do. As his face drew closer, Rosena closed her eyes reflexively.

“All set.”

His hand grazed Rosena’s hair.

Slowly opening her eyes, Rosena looked up at him with a puzzled face.

A leaf was in the hand of Yerhan, who took a step back.

Only then did Rosena’s ears turn red when she realized the situation.

She was ashamed of herself for being mistaken for a moment, so she wanted to hide in a hole.

“Rosena?”

Yerhan called her name, looking at her red cheeks.

When the answer didn’t return, he put his finger on Rosena’s cheek.

Rosena shrank as his cold fingers touched her face.

Rosena raised her head slightly and made eye contact with Yerhan.

In Rosena’s redder-than-usual eyes, Yerhan unknowingly drew close to her face.

And it was the moment when their lips were about to touch.

Tak

Something stuck in the back of his head with a throbbing pain.

He tried to ignore it, but once again something hit his head and fell off.

When it became unbearable, Yerhan turned his head, and Illian, who had been attached to the window, said a word.

“My plane!”

The voice of Illian brought Rosena to her senses and she moved away from Yerhan.

Yerhan’s finger, which touched her cheek, lost its place to go and stopped in the air.

Yerhan looked down at the paper plane that had fallen at his feet.

Obviously it was on purpose.

Yerhan’s forehead crumpled.

He began to strode along with an expression that says he would never let today’s incident slide.
