Ever since Marquis Jurgen and Kayla returned, Rosena had not budged from the drawing room.

The truth told by the marquis was heavier than Rosena thought, and difficult to accept.

Rosena thought she was the only one who could talk to the animals. But this ability was inherited from the Rosena family.

Furthermore, the reason why her father told her to run away when she met the imperial family was…

She thought she would feel better if she knew the truth, but she felt more frustrated and depressed.

She was the one who helped embody the power of the imperial family.

She felt like a tool, not a human being.

It was also the reason the crown prince kept hovering around her… and also Yerhan…

Having thought that far, Rosena wrapped her face in her palms.

It hurt, like someone grabbed her heart and weighed it down. It was just painful to breathe.

Perhaps she was looking forward to something.

At that time, after she made love with Yerhan in the bathroom, the expectation was that he might also have a little heart for her.

She became miserable, nothing went as far as her heart would go.

If he really needed her strength, so he kept her by his side…

– Promise me you’ll come back to Astania later.

Kayla’s voice echoed through her head.

…As expected, she needed to ask Yerhan first.

Is it because of the power I have that you married me?

I came to like you, what do you think of me?

Whatever happened, it would be better to face it head-on and make a decision then.

Rosena rose from her seat. There was still a lot of time left before Yerhan would come back from the meeting, but she didn’t want to sit still like this.

She thought she would feel better if she took a walk.

Knock, knock.

Knock on the door came from outside.

Just in case it was Yerhan, Rosena stiffened up.

“Your Highness, you have a visitor.”

Rosena relaxed at Ella’s voice.

By the way, another guest?

The marquis and Kayla came and went not long ago.

“Who is it?”

Rosena cleared her voice and asked.

Then Ella replied.

“It is Countess Estarot.”

Rosena paused for a moment. It was a real surprise that Rania came.

She didn’t understand for a second. They met for a while at the banquet yesterday.

Rania, who got into Asilia’s horde, seemed arrogant and, as usual, came up to her and picked a fight.

She didn’t know what else she wanted to do today, but she didn’t want to waste her time.

“Send her back.”

“All right.”

Ella replied politely.

Listening to steps that were going further away, Rosena sighed deeply.

How did this happen?

In the past, Rosena was not on bad terms with Rania. Rather, Rosena carefully looked after Rania, who she had an age difference with.

When her parents took care of Rania first, she gave way happily because she was a younger sister.

However, the reason why Rosena and Rania had fallen out little by little was because….

– That makes me mad!

One day, while she was talking to an animal, Rania happened to see it.

Rania was offended that Rosena was talking to the animals alone.

Shocked by her young heart, Rosena thought herself strange from then on.

Rania, her family, also gave her the same gaze as a maid that saw her talking to an animal when she was child.

From that day on, the relationship grew a little awkward, but it turned sour after her father’s death.

Rania was unhelpful even when her father died and her family became difficult, and Macella openly discriminated against Rania and Rosena.

Barely holding up like that, that mother and daughter tried to marry her off to a merchant behind Rosena’s back.

On that occasion, Rosena left the mansion and met Yerhan and had Illian.

She used to be stuck with Macella and Rania, but she never thought this day would come.

Life was such an unknown thing.

Rosena was about to leave the living room when she heard a loud noise.

She opened the door of the living room, wondering what happened.

“Your Highness!”

Rania, who was making a fuss at the end of the hallway, shouted at Rosena.

Then the employees held onto Rania with a look of great bewilderment.

“Please, give me a minute!”

Rania’s cry echoed through the palace.

As Rosena’s younger sister, her employees were restless yet unable to restrain her.

Rosena looked at Rania without much expression.

Unlike her usual arrogant and confident face, she was full of nervousness.

“It’ll only take a minute!”

Rania screamed again when her arms were seized by the servants who were trying to take her outside.

At this rate, Rosena felt it would interfere with the tutor and the studying Illian.

Rosena touched her throbbing head.

“Let her go.”

Rosena said, looking at the employees.

As the employees fell off, Rania could barely stand straight.

When Rosena returned to the drawing room, Rania crept in.

Rosena told Rania, who was looking around, to sit down.

“There’s no tea for a sudden visitor.”

At Rosena’s cold words, Rania mumbled.

Rosena called Ella, who was waiting in the back.

“Please bring me some water.”

And not long after, Ella came in and put down tea in front of Rosena and a glass of water in front of Rania.

Rosena thanked Ella and sent her out.

Silence filled the living room, and Rania looked at the cup of water.

Rosena asked, tilting her head at the sight.

“Why, are you sick?”

“…No, I’m not.”

Rania shook her head.

Unlike the screaming earlier, it was a quiet answer.

Rania looked pale as if she was ill.

In the past, she would have been instantly worried, but now she doesn’t feel anything. Rather, she felt worse than others.

Judging from the deterioration of her condition in a day, it may be because of the monster.

Or maybe she was thrown out by Asilia this time.

Rosena deliberately asked coldly, not showing pity to Rania.

“You’ve been making a fuss in my palace, so you’ve got something important to say?”

Rania hesitated for a long time. Then she muttered with her head down.

“I want to apologize….”

Rosena’s eyebrows bent.

Words of apologises were things that really didn’t match Rania.

“What kind of apology?”

Rania hesitated at Rosena’s question.

Rania, who hesitated for a while, opened her mouth to say something.

“I apologize… for being rude so far.”

Rosena looked down at Rania, who had changed her attitude in a day, as if she had turned her palm upside down.

Rania looked down at the table, clasping her skirt tightly.

“I, shouldn’t have thought like that…. but I guess I was upset and angry at the thought that sister…. had abandoned mother and me.”

Once she started talking, it was easier than she thought.

Rosena, who was listening to her in silence, picked up her teacup.

Rosena, who took a sip of tea, asked.

“So?”

“I regret it. If you show me generosity, I’d like to do well again. Mother…. regrets it, too.”

Rania glanced at the teacup that Rosena had put down and blurted out those words.

“..…”

Rosena, who was sitting calmly, recalled Macella’s face.

Until the last time they met, there was no sign of that. Rather, she was anxious to undermine and trample on her.

It was Macella, though she had not committed physical violence until now, who had committed numerous assaults mentally.

“So please forgive me.”

Rania’s last words were strangely dignified.

“Forgive…”

Rosena, who was listening quietly, uttered.

Then she put the teacup down and looked straight at Rania with cold eyes.

“Am I the person who would forgive you if you ask me to?”

“…..”

“Before that, do you know what you really did wrong to me?”

Rania clenched her fist. Rosena let out an airy laugh.

For a person who came to beg forgiveness, the true feelings in her heart were revealed on her face.

What kind of apology did she mean when she still contained something unpleasant and played victim?

She didn’t know, was there any reason why she should apologize to her like this?

“…Whatever it is, it’s all my fault.”

Rosena didn’t say anything. The cold eyes lifted a little, and Rosena let out a sigh.

Actually, she didn’t want to get an apology, she just wanted to wrap up this relationship because they were irrevocably estranged anyway.

“Go back.”

Rania flinched as Rosena said coldly. She procrastinated, not even thinking about waking up.

Rosena stared silently at Rania when she heard a knock on the door.

“I’m sorry. Your Highness, I have something to tell you for a moment.”

Rosena looked toward the door at the call of the maid.

After waking up from her seat, Rosena glanced at Rania and went outside for a moment.

It was a golden opportunity.

Rania quickly pulled a red silk bag out of her arms.

Her hands trembled and the powder fell messily onto the table.

When the silk pouch was empty, Rania quickly shook off the powder that had fallen around her.

After sitting there as if nothing had happened, Rosena returned.

“Are you still not leaving?”

Rania quivered her lips at Rosena’s words. She made a constant effort to manage her facial expression.

She was so nervous that her heart was about to pop out of her mouth.

Rosena sat down again and blinked her eyes to ask her go. But Rania couldn’t raise her hips.

It was not until Rosena drank tea that she would complete the mission.

Rania, whose mind turned blank, said something.

“We can no longer go back now, can’t we…?”

“What?”

“We can’t go back to our happy days.”

“Happiness?”

Rosena pondered. She hadn’t been happy since her father died.

Macella and Rania waited for Rosena to do everything like they were baby birds who couldn’t do anything.

It wouldn’t have been that hard if there was a sincere gratitude from the bottom of their hearts.

“It was Macella and you who broke that happiness.”

Rosena, who responded coldly, picked up the teacup.

After a sip, the cold tea water went into her mouth.

Rosena didn’t drink any more and immediately put the teacup down.

“..…”

Rania stared at it. She got nervous because Rosena didn’t drink as much tea as she thought.

“Get out.”

“I’m not done talking….”

“Do you want me to pull you out?”

Rania’s face hardened at Rosena’s question.

It was so humiliating to be forced out by the servants.

Rosena got up from her seat watching Rania hesitate. She was going to call a servant and kick Rania out.

And it was at  the moment she was heading for the door. The floor began to spin.

Rosena, who stopped for a while, blinked. The bright view blinked like a spark that would go out at any moment.

Staggering, Rosena leaned against the wall.

From the inside, a hot lump came rushing in.

She coughed and spat out a lump of blood.

The red blood colored the palms, soaking the dress and spreading to the floor.

“Haaaa… haa…”

Her breathing was getting tighter and chill ran through her body. She couldn’t even hear the sound around her because of the ring in her ears.

Rosena breathed out, barely holding her arms against the wall.

She couldn’t find any voice even though she opened and closed her mouth.

Rania’s pale face filled her vision, she came in front of her dying, dark eyes.

And then her eyes completely closed.
