The judge asked again with a puzzled face.

“Do you have any evidence?”

“That’s right. May I call a witness?”

“…I will give you my approval.”

When the judge allowed it, the back door swung open. Everyone turned their heads and looked at the back door. Then someone entered the courtroom through the open door.

Asilia, who was sitting in the jury seat, was startled to see the face of the person entering. She was Asilia’s maid, the one who bought the poison.

“…!”

Asilia, who had maintained her composure, trembled. Even when she clenched her fists, the trembling did not stop.

The woman who just came in was a person whom Asilia had brought from her family when she got married, and she was a person whom she trusted. They had been together for years, how…

Asilia took a deep breath to hide her rage. Even if she confessed, there was still not enough evidence.

As the woman who had just entered sat in the witness stand, the judge asked her.

“Witness, identify yourself and state.”

The woman glanced at Yerhan. Her face was slightly pale, and she opened her trembling lips.

“I am the maid of the Second Princess. Not long ago, Her Highness gave me a secret order.”

As she continued to speak slowly, she looked at Asilia and said.

“….She asked me to meet someone and pick up the goods.”

The woman hesitated for a moment before continuing onto her next sentence, and then lowered her eyes.

“And when I received the item, I took a peek and saw that it contained white powder.”

Asilia jumped up from her seat and shouted.

“I have never given such an order!”

Asilia’s voice shook the surroundings. The judge raised his glasses and looked at Yerhan.

“There is still not enough evidence.”

It was said that the testimony of one errand girl alone would not significantly change the outcome of the trial.

But Yerhan was not shaken. He raised his hand as if he had expected everything.

“Can I call more witnesses?”

“I give you permission.”

The back door opened again and two more people entered. Seeing their faces, Asilia’s face turned white. All of them were Asilia’s maids, those she was the closest to.

Those who saw the witnesses began to murmur. As they lined up, the judge looked at the witnesses and nodded as if to tell them to speak.

“Testify one by one.”

Then the two looked at each other, and one opened his mouth first.

“I, I… am the maid of the Second Prince Palace. While cleaning a while ago, I found this pouch in Her Highness’ palace.”

When she presented the evidence, the judge scrutinized it. The leftover bag contained white powder.

Asilia looked at the evidence and sat down. It was the pocket that she handed over to Rania. How did that come back?

“Tell the doctor to find out the ingredients.”

The person receiving the bag hurried out.

“Another witness, please speak.”

“I am also the maid of the Second Prince Palace. A few weeks ago… Countess Estarot came to the palace. And Her Highness talked  alone with the Countess for a long time.”

“It’s a lie!!”

Asilia made noises. But when all the testimonies were met, the presiding courtroom became noisy. She murmured several times that it wasn’t her, but no one listened.

And not long after, the one who took the pocket returned to the courtroom.

“The doctor said it’s like the poison the Third Princess took.”

At his words, everyone looked at Asilia.

Too much evidence had already come out. Even all the evidence that should not even exist.

Asilia sat down for a moment with a bewildered look on her face.

“Your Highness, Second Princess, all the evidence has been revealed. Are you still in denial?”

Asilia, who bowed her head at the judge’s words, tilted her chin. And then she started to scream.

There was a mixture of swearing of injustice in the incomprehensible language.

“Drag her out.”

The guards approached and grabbed Asilia’s arms.

Anyone who made a fuss in the courtroom could be expelled by the judge regardless of their status. However, it did not end with simply being thrown out because the evidence was clear.

“You will be detained until the next trial.”

With the judge’s words, Asilia was dragged outside.

“Your Majesty!! Help me!!”

Asilia, who was screaming, cried out to the empress. But the empress did not move. She just looked at Asilia without expression.

As soon as she left, there was a deafening silence.

Rania, who was sitting in the suspect seat, burst into laughter. Those sitting in their seats tossed and turned as if they were uncomfortable with the empty laughter.

Rania, who laughed as if she had gone crazy, soon slumped.

“Then we will proceed with the trial again.”

The judge continued speaking while looking at Rania.

“Rania Estarot. It is clear that you were trying to assassinate the Third Princess, Rosena Herbet…”

Everyone took a breath. And the judge gave a sentence that did not differ from everyone’s expectations.

“I will sentence you to death.”

The sound of the wooden hammer resounded very heavily. At the same time, Macella, who was sitting behind her, screamed.

“Rania!!”

Macella howled, but Rania did not move. She closed her eyes as if she had given up on everything.

“Execution is in the Grand Square in two days.”

When the judge finished speaking, Rania, who slumped down, was dragged out. Macella screamed and followed Rania outside.

Rania’s husband, the current Count of Estarot, also slowly rose from his seat. He looked calm considering his wife was sentenced to death.

So when the Estarots all went out, the judge pulled out another document.

“Then, let me continue with the trial of the monster disturbance in the Imperial Palace.”

Yerhan rose from the plaintiff’s seat and sat down in the defendant’s seat.

The trial began with the seat of the plaintiff Yerhan was sitting earlier empty.

“The Third Prince, Yerhan Herbet, you brought out the monster in the founding banquet this time. Is that right?”

The judge asked Yerhan looking straight at him.

Yerhan still stared blankly at the judge.

Then the judge flinched at his vigority and slightly avoided his gaze.

“No, I did not.”

The nobles who were watching Yerhan’s denial were buzzing.

The judge let out a cough and shook the document in his hand. It looked thick at first glance.

“Here’s the evidence. And yet you’re still going to make excuses?”

Yerhan was still keeping his mouth shut. All the evidence was already in place in the direction the emperor wanted.

Doing this stupid trial was to show the nobles.

Yerhan lowered his eyes. He could reveal the whole truth even now.

He has subjugated the monsters instead of the crown prince, and he is the leader of the Knights of Tiriad.

But his lips didn’t dare open.

The moment he said that, everything will be irreversible.

The emperor and empress were well aware of his weaknesses.

At least after Rosena and Illian were sent out of here, then the truth could be revealed.

“It’s not me.”

Yerhan repeatedly spoke like a parrot who could only say the same single phrase.

The judge slowly opened his mouth as he looked at Yerhan.

“You put the nobles at risk to show off your power. That sin is never light.”

The judge glanced at the emperor.

Yerhan’s biological father, the emperor, did not respond much throughout the trial.

It was in contrast to Macella’s cry for Rania earlier.

“Please confess all about how you dragged the monster.”

“I don’t know anything, so I have nothing to say.”

When Yerhan finally refused to confess, the nobles split in two.

One group believed that Yerhan was the initiator of this case, and the other group believed in Yerhan until the end.

For Yerhan to have caused this incident, he looked very desperate at the time. Even his wife, Rosena, was almost injured.

As the nobles mumbled among themselves, the judge lifted  his glasses.

Yerhan’s refusal to confess could not delay the trial.

Evidence was already in hand that he was the mastermind.

“Yerhan Herbet, you have brought out the monster and wounded the Crown Prince.”

His voice resonated quietly in the courtroom. And he read down the verdict.

“Considering all this evidence and circumstances, you are sentenced to five years of exile at Haylor, the northernmost part of the empire.”

“….!”

The verdict made the judge noisy.

In fact, even if he made a commotion with monsters, it was too much.

Haylor was the northernmost part of the empire, and everything was in a poor environment, so it was like hell for those who lived a splendid life in the capital.

And five years was enough for people to forget him.

His family, whom he left behind, would be placed in numerous prejudices, contempt and poor conditions.

Some of the people watching said that it was too much. But no one could say it directly.

The judge looked at the jury seat and asked.

“Juries, do you agree?”

The majority of people raised their hands to agree.

The judge accepted everyone’s opinion and tapped the wooden hammer.

As the sound filled the courtroom, Yerhan closed his eyes. He looked as if he knew this would happen.

Yerhan was rather fortunate to be exiled at Haylor. There were a lot of people who could help.

Yerhan slowly pulled himself up. And he tried to get out of his seat, but he stopped.

In the crowd, Rosena stood, directly facing Yerhan.

***

Rosena arrived in the courtroom anxiously before the trial began. And she and Ibella sat at the back and watched the trial.

The first trial was about Rania’s execution.

Rania had become a completely different person.

Always full of pride in her appearance, she never missed a day of self-care.

But Rania, who was sitting in the courtroom, had lost all the weight and her complexion was so bad that she looked like a living corpse.

Looking at Rania like that, Rosena was enveloped in a subtle feeling.

She didn’t sympathize with her, but it didn’t make her feel refreshed either.

The trial that began like that began to flow in an unexpected direction.

Rania pointed to Asilia as an accomplice. She confessed that she had attempted to poison her on her orders, and her witnesses popped out one by one.

Yerhan had many things set up for this trial while Rosena was asleep.

When Rania pointed to Asilia, she thought it would be a problem without any evidence.

But Yerhan thoroughly summoned all the witnesses and revealed Asilia’s sins.

Rosena watched the trial absentmindedly.

She briefly suspected that Asilia was involved in this, but she couldn’t believe she really was going to kill her.

Then Asilia was dragged away and Yerhan’s trial followed immediately.

Yerhan’s trial proceeded as if they were roasting beans in lightning. As if the outcome had already been determined, most of the process was omitted.

Rosena’s heart was so stuffy and suffocating watching it.

It was ridiculous that Yerhan brought in the monster.

He jumped at the monster to protect her.

He wouldn’t have looked so desperate if he had really brought the monster.

Rosena wanted to raise an objection right away. But Ibella stopped her from the side.

The reason was that even if she stepped up in a trial that was already arranged like a script, Rosena could not create even a spark.

Rosena couldn’t do anything but watch.

And when the verdict was made, Rosena stopped breathing.

Five years of exile.

He was literally being expelled from the imperial family.

Even if he returned in five years there would be no place for him.

Rosena stared blankly at his back.

Was Yerhan aware of all this?

Maybe he pushed her away because he knew this would happen.

His sudden change in attitude may be due to this ridiculous skit.

Rosena wanted to run to Yerhan right away.

Then Yerhan slowly rose from his seat and turned his head her way.

Among the countless eyes, he immediately found Rosena.
