“Mo, monster…”

It was a monster of enormous size, one that she had never seen before.

At the sudden appearance of the monster, there was a moment of silence around it. Even in the deep darkness, the eyes of the monster were as clear as flames.

It was dark, so she couldn’t figure out exactly how big it was, but it looked as big as a building.

The imperial knights retreated. They knew better than anyone that they could not deal with monsters.

The Astanian knights took a step back and were wary of the monsters. They did not know the existence of monsters, so they did not avoid them like the imperial knights.

The monster that came out of the forest let out a strange cry. Everyone’s faces turned white at the terrible sound that was like scraping iron.

Soon, with the sound of it’s footsteps that shook the ground, the monster ran towards the knights.

The Astanian knights stepped forward to protect Rosena.

The knights swung their swords at the monster all at once. However, the sharp blade could not even scratch the skin of the monster.

“Kearrgghh!!”

There were screams all around. As the Astanian knights fell like leaves, Rosena screamed. At that voice, the monster stopped moving. Dark blue eyes rolled over and turned towards Rosena.

Rosena’s body hardened after receiving the monster’s gaze. The monster that approached Rosena opened its wide mouth.

Then white breath came out of the monster’s mouth.

– I can…… feel the power…… of our kind, in you.

Again, the monster’s words were heard. Rosena looked around. But this time, only she seemed to understand the words of the monster.

“Your Highness!”

An Astanian knight attacked the monster and shouted. He couldn’t do any damage to the monster, but it was enough to draw it’s attention for a moment.

“Now. Run away!”

After a brief pause, Rosena immediately started running. If she did not escape, his sacrifice would be in vain.

Rosena got on the horse at once. The knight holding the reins turned to them get out of here.

At that moment, Zigrit quickly popped out. He gave the horse’s legs a long cut with the sword in his hand.

A cry filled with pain resounded, and the horse faltered.

As Rosena and the knight, who were riding on the horse, fell to the ground, Zigrit grabbed Rosena’s hair.

“Where are you going!”

Rosena raised her head with a faint groan.

Zigrit’s eyes filled with madness.

Zigrit grabbed Rosena’s hair and tried to drag her away.

“Let go of me!!”

At Rosena’s shout, the monster who was dealing with the knights ran over here.

As soon as the monster came close to his nose, Zigrit grabbed the sword. It was a brief moment, but when he came into contact with Rosena, he was overflowed with energy that could not be compared to before.

Zigrit immediately swung his sword towards the monster. The blade pierced through the hard skin of a monster that no one could even scratch.

As the green blood spurted, the monster roared. Zigrit flinched at the roar that shook the surroundings.

He should have dug into it right away without giving it a break, but Zigrit didn’t have much experience dealing with the monster so he didn’t get the hang of it.

The monster raised its claws and attacked Zigrit. Zigrit quickly retreated, but the hem of his robe and a little flesh on his arm fell off.

While he grabbed his arm, the monster ran towards Zigrit with its claws raised again.

Zigrit grabbed the sword and straightened the blade.

Giving away his shoulder, he stretched out his sword and pierced the monster’s abdomen. The huge body of the monster fell down with green blood.

Zigrit slashed the monster without missing a beat. Its body, which was as hard as armor, was now as soft as tofu. Zigrit was holding his sword and smiling with a face full of joy and looked down at the monster.

The monster, who was bleeding all over, reached out to Rosena.

-You… our kind, run away…

However, the words of the monster did not continue any further. It was because Zigrit had pierced his sword into the monster’s body.

Zigrit smiled as he pulled out his sword. Even in the dark, his smile was bright.

Zigrit approached Rosena, who got up from her prior position to escape. Then, he roughly pulled Rosena into his arms.

Rosena pushed Zigrit with all her might. But his body was as hard as a rock. The more he came into contact with Rosena, the stronger his aura grew.

Unlike Yerhan, who hid his energy in front of Rosena, he acted like a man eager to show off. As Rosena resisted with all her might, Zigrit slapped her on the back of her neck.

Rosena fell unconscious in his arms.

The Astanian knights tried to attack the crown prince, but were blocked by the imperial knights.

The Astanian knights who were injured by rushing at the monster were not even able to compete with the imperial knights.

Zigrit took Rosena and walked towards the carriage.

The sound of sword clashes and screams in the woods became quiet after a while. Zigrit sat Rosena in the carriage and took a seat across from her.

She had tried to run away when he took his eyes off her for even a moment, so now he was planning to keep her by his side and watch over her.

Zigrit stroked Rosena’s red hair. gave a command to the coachman.

“Let’s go.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the carriage began to roll.

***

A man in black moved quickly through the thick forest. The surrounding was shrouded in darkness as if covered with a black cloth.

The man who was running towards the depths of the forest stopped for a moment. There was a familiar smell. The stench that emanated from the corpse of a monster.

The man, who was tracking where the smell was, found a small vacant lot. It was a vacant lot created by cutting down the surrounding trees.

Bloodstains were clearly visible through the fallen trees.

A few swords that had lost their masters seemed to indicate that a fierce battle had just taken place.

The man turned a little further in. Not far away, the corpse of a monster was scattered around. It’s body was mutilated, and even its original shape was unrecognizable.

Only the third prince, Yerhan, could face such a monster.

But this….

The man leaned down slowly. The grass that had been swept by the wheel of the carriage and had been lying on its side was touched.

The fluffy clouds in the sky lifted and the moonlight slowly revealed on the man’s face. With a pretty but hard face, he was Isaac of the knights of Tiriad.

After Yerhan’s exile, Isaac disappeared.

In case the tail could be caught, he carried out his mission while completely erasing the traces.

Isaac’s task was to stay in the capital and carry out reconnaissance of the current situation, while at the same time recruiting nobles.

As the second son of a count, he used his personal connections to find out the nobles who turned to the anti-imperial faction. They obeyed in the front, but behind, were dissatisfied with the imperial family.

This time, rumors circulated that Yerhan was dead, and monsters began to appear. However, Zigrit was unable to properly block the monsters.

Naturally, the reputation of the imperial family eroded, and the distrust of the nobles grew stronger. In particular, the nobles who were saved thanks to Yerhan at the banquet hall expressed their resentment towards the crown prince.

Isaac attended a secret meeting of the anti-imperial nobles. And there, the nobles were selected separately and persuaded to his side. The list grew in length, and Isaac got a promise from them to support the knights.

While increasing his power in the capital, the crown prince became frantic to find Rosena. After a chase, the crown prince found out that Rosena had returned to Astania.

The crown prince sent an official letter to Astania, and Isaac found out the contents of the letter through a spy planted in the imperial family. It was about exchanging Rosena with a young lady of the marquis from Astania.

Isaac descended to the south according to the date written in the official document. They tried to rescue Rosena from here, but there was a setback on the way.

Isaac took a deep breath and ruffled his hair. His hair, in a high ponytail, swayed as he moved.

“Did the Crown Prince kill the monster……”

Hearing the news that Rosena and the crown prince were meeting at the dock, he hastily ran, but it seemed that he was one step behind. Even if he was chasing the traces of the wheels of a carriage, it was difficult to track if they were heading to the capital. And it would be of no use if they could not take the carriage from here.

“I have to report it to ‘him’.”

A knight who was nearby and was watching the scene approached Isaac.

“You have news from Ruble.”

Ruble was a shop located in the southernmost coastal city. It was also where Isaac planted his contacts.

“What’s the matter?”

“We were asked to take care of a child……”

“A child?”

After thinking for a moment, Isaac opened his eyes.

“Don’t tell me.”

“Sir Isaac?”

The knight called for Isaac, but he turned around without answering.

Illian was the only child to visit the store.
