Chapter 470 469 - First Glimpse of the New Reincarnators(Part 5) Point-of-View: Shiro Blanc

"Uh, is he dead? That was a five story drop," Remarked Minise, as we both peered over the ledge.
"He's getting up, sturdy bastard. We were asked to bring him in alive, so I'll just go ahead and sever his limbs, make things easier that way," I responded, as I swooped down and landed a few feet ahead of him, staring down at him as he painstakingly got back on his feet.
Hm? His injuries are disappearing...does he have some kind of healing ability? It doesn't seem nearly as potent as my Healing Factor, but still...he isn't using a Spell Card, and unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure that bears don't have regenerative abilities, so it can't be his Anima either. So, then, just what exactly is this healing power he's using?
"I'm gonna tear you apart, and then I'll take your powers for myself...," He growled, as he suddenly formed a fireball and blasted it at me, which I evaded and countered with Repulsion, sending him flying back and slamming onto the side of a building.
Take my powers for himself, huj? What does he mean by that?
Suddenly, as he glared at me, he teleported right in front of me, swiping his claws at my head, which I ducked under and countered by slamming my fist onto the bottom of his jaw, sending him stumbling back and falling down with a dazed expression.
He then placed his hand on the ground, a chunk of it rising up in the shape of a spinning blade and rapidly flying towards me, breaking apart as I formed an Absolute Defense barrier to block it.
The hell? He can use both Fire and Earth Magic? But how?
Before I could think about it, he suddenly fired out a barrage of ice shards at me, followed by a blast of lightning. Of course, none of them can get through my barrier.
"What the hell...!? Why can't I hit you!?" He snapped in frustration, before freezing as I teleported right behind him.
Water Magic too? Okay, we definitely need to take him in alive...
"Because you're weak," I stated icily, as I formed a wind blade along my palm and swung my arm up, slicing off his right arm from around the shoulder.
He let out an excruciating scream of pain as he collapsed onto his knees, clutching his shoulder while trembling in agony, as blood poured out of the stump and splattered onto the ground...when, suddenly, the bleeding began to slow down and stop, the wound closing up.
Not doubt about it, he can heal himself...but nowhere near the extent of Kuro or my Healing Factors, looks like he can't grow back severed limbs.
I then teleported in front of him and slammed my foot onto his chest, pinning him to the ground before teleporting us up to the rooftop Minise was still up, while forming a swirling water drill and pointing it at his left arm, as he reverted back to his normal state...
"Answer my questions or I'll tear off your other arm next," I warned him, before asking, "First things first, did you reincarnate here with your past memories intact?"
"Y-yes, I did! Please don't kill me!" He wailed in terror.
What a little bitch. He was going around so gleefully while killing random people, and now that it's his life that's in danger, he can't handle it.
"Next question. What did you mean when you said that you'll take my powers for yourself?" I inquired with a frown.
"I-I have a power called Devour, i-if I eat a person's heart, I gain all their powers and ten percent of their power level!" He answered fearfully.
"I've never heard of an ability like that one," Muttered Minise with a look of concern.
"Explain the reincarnation process you went through in detail," I instructed him with narrowed eyes.
"O-okay! It was like a custom character thing in games! There w-were only four things to customize though...the first was Elemental Magic, I could choose any two. The second was Support Magic, a-a huge list from which I could pick any three...I-I picked invisibility, teleportation and healing! The third w-was True Anima, which let me choose an animal, I picked black bear.
A-and the fourth was called Extra Magic, a list of really powerful abilities, but it didn't let me pick which one, one's assigned at random, that's how I got my Devour ability. A-also, I got assigned a power level between 10,000 and 25,000, i-it was like a meter that went up and down rapidly before slowing down and stopping at 11,000, which was my power level before I used Devour," He explained in response, trembling and crying as I stared down at him icily.
So, that's what the new reincarnation process is like, huh?
"I should have figured it's already over. Is this the killer?" Suddenly came Cusnai's voice, as she jumped onto the rooftop with a wave.
I spotted Lily closing in on us too, hopping across the rooftops of the surrounding buildings.
"Yup, and we now know how the new reincarnation process works. And it's pretty damn problematic. Let's take him to the castle, there's a lot to discuss," I remarked, as I zapped the back of his neck and knocked him unconscious.
"What'd I miss?" Inquired Lily, as she reached us.
"Mission complete," Responded Minise with a thumbs up.
"Oh, nice. I'm going back home then," She replied with a yawn, "You guys can handle the rest without me, yeah?"
"Well, yeah, but you didn't really do anything," Pointed out Cusnai with a sigh.
"And did you?" She countered with a raised eyebrow.
"...touché."
"Whatever, fine, you can go home. Cusnai, since I'm the one who defeated him, you can carry him to the castle," I remarked dryly.
"I mean, I don't mind, I guess. But why me instead of Minise, she's physically stronger than I am," She replied with a frown.
"Well, I'm not gonna ask my wife to carry another guy, you know," I reasoned with a huff.
Oh, right, we got married about twelve years ago or so, just FYI.
"Hehe, the perks of being married," Grinned Minise as she latched onto my arm, while Cusnai rolled her eyes and carried the guy over her shoulder with a sigh.
"Come on, let's head to the castle right away."
...
About fifteen minutes later, we were in the castle, dragging the killer to the throne room, where Cusana was apparently still awake at. Doesn't that woman ever sleep?
I'd formed dense bands of bone and wrapped them around the guy to keep him restrained, he'd be hard-pressed to break free from it even with his True Anima, especially since he was missing an arm.
As we reached and entered the throne room, a slightly worn out looking Cusana greeted us, as the guards shut the door as we set down the killer, who was still passed out.
"Excellent work, I had faith that you would succeed tonight," She remarked with a pleased look on her face, having sent a guard to fetch Agatha, who'd gone to bed.
"We just got lucky is all. This guy wasn't that strong, but he's got some pretty dangerous abilities. Had he been able to continue his killing spree for a while longer, he would have become that much more difficult to deal with," I sighed wistfully.
"Hm? Tell me everything you learned, leave nothing out," She responded with a look of dread and intrigue.
"Yeah, I was getting to that. Guess I'll start with what we learnt about the reincarnation process and how much it's changed," I began, before continuing and explaining everything I found out.
She was silent for a while after I finished, a grim expression on her face, before she eventually responded...
"I do not like the sound of this...the new Reincarnators may prove to be dangerous threats to us. Had this one managed to kill and use his Devour ability on any of you X-Ranks, he would have gained a substantial boost in power. And we do not even know what other of these 'Extra Magic' techniques are there, there may be some that are far more dangerous than this Devour technique," She frowned in concern.
"Yeah, and the Support Magic techniques are also dangerous. This guy could turn invisible, teleport and heal himself, and he said that there was a long list of abilities to choose from," Chimed in Cusnai with a grimace.
"If it wasn't for Shiro, I might have been killed back there...I did feel like someone was staring at me, but I wrote it off as paranoia since I couldn't see anyone. It's no wonder he was able to kill so many people already," Added Minise warily.
"So, what do we do with him? Interrogate and then execute?" I inquired curiously.
"He will certainly be interrogated thoroughly, but the execution will have to wait. I believe we need to discuss this matter with the other nations and determine how to deal with these new Reincarnators from here on. We cannot allow this to happen again, our peace will not be threatened any further," Surmised Cusana with a determined look in her eyes...
