"I once chopped off my arm," Worm said as she walked.

"And?" Lucy asked.

"Limbs don't reform until your health regenerates back to its green zone. Or, if it was slashed off, and you're already in that zone, it'll come back in ten seconds."

"Darn devs."

Lucy gritted her teeth, glaring at her missing left arm. It wouldn't impede her a lot, but it was annoying, and it could affect small things like balancing and deriving power with both hands. Essentially, being able to slice off limbs in Eclipse was a feature that could weaken an opponent significantly if used right. Imagine you had your leg sliced off in the middle of a battle?

She took a step, walking over dirt carefully, and stared at her leather-chestplated companion to her left.

"Curious. What was the penalty for dying in a dungeon in the beta?" She asked.

Worm half-smiled. "Loss of a level and an inability to enter that same dungeon again for 24 hours. A lot of the beta testers hated this, so I wonder if they changed it."

Lucy frowned.

"Knowing the developers. . .I doubt it."

Worm kept her eyes forward and merely nodded. She, as Lucy had come to figure, was a person who spoke little. Though, contracting that, she was a person who spoke a lot when it came to aspects of the game.

"This is the first dungeon on the server, so I doubt it'll be too long or complex," The girl said, keeping pace, "Its name is 'outpost' so I'll infer it's a lesser version of what would be the goblin's 'home'—an offshoot likely used to stay close to Acron."

Lucy nodded beside her. The girl was smart. At least, her words sounded pretty logical to her.

"Oh, it's back," She said, looking at her arm.

They had been moving rather slowly for a while simply to allow it to naturally heal and, now, it formed back instantly once her health reached above 50%. Though, surprisingly, the tunnel they were in was quite long.

"That's good. Look ahead."

"Hmm."

The two girls stepped into a new room. Immediately, they saw what was ten goblins. All swordsmen dressed in full leather, surrounding a table as cups of booze sat before each. The goblins turned to them. They snarled, then jumped up and charged.

Recognizing the situation, Lucy was quick to judgment.

"Go back to the tunnel!" She said, "We'll force them to narrow and fight there!"

Worm nodded, and the two girls hurriedly moved back, jumping from blades. As soon as they found themselves in front of the opening again, Lucy turned and blocked two blades with her own.

Worm lashed out with her weapon, drilling holes through the bodies of the two goblins in front as her other arm waved, and a light barrier covered her figure.

"Switch."

Lucy jumped back.

The sword of the girl repelled the two in front before lashing out, fluttering quickly. Her weapon must have been strong on its own because Lucy thought the girl placed everything into her speed.

She stepped forward with her own sword glowing.

A heavy slash connected with a goblin and separated its head from its body. She didn't have time to look at the system notice, however, as they still had four goblins to face.

Each girl took on two opponents due to the narrow tunnel. It was better than being surrounded on all sides, yet the size of the goblins allowed them the ability to strike through small gaps.

Lucy tched as a blade slashed against her leg and the hazy color of green surrounded her quickly falling health points.

She kicked a goblin away then slashed another across its chest, falling its health to red with the tear of blue data. She blocked its counter only to find another sword stabbed into her abdomen.

Her vision blurred then refocused. When she noticed the state of her health-bar, however, she was alarmed.

"What the heck?! The poisons stack?! These damn developers! I'm losing 3% of my health every five seconds!"

She had already fallen below 50% hp. She wasn't losing that much health from each attack that landed on her person, due to her stats, but the poison that must be costing the blades of the goblins annoyed her to no end.

The bad thing was that it would last a minute.

"" Worm muttered beside her and a ray of light covered Lucy, bringing her just barely back to green.

The barrier of the girl flickered, however, broken by another slash of a blade.

Now they really were backed up and five goblins remained.

"Switch," Lucy spoke as her weapon glowed.

Worm jumped back, and she took on four goblins at once and slashed upward across their chests. Her health bar jumped up slightly with her attack and she slashed again, drawing her blade left.

If her [Goblin's Loving Bracelet] had a 13% chance to trigger its 3% health regen that scaled on her attack, then she just needed to keep attacking and pray to god that it activated.

"I have a chance to proc a regen on myself! Heal and barrier me whenever you can! I'll keep slashing!" She gritted her teeth. "Jump in when you feel like it."

She stepped forward and disregarded dodging as she gripped her sword with both hands. A sword came, and she twisted her figure, finding it ring against the dirt wall of the tunnel. She stabbed through the skull of the goblin, then pulled it o it as she slashed at another.

A sword stabbed from her side and finished the former off.

She stepped forward, taking up the middle of the tunnels

Swords crossed her form and she slashed in return. Over and over. They were level 10 goblins so she quickly approached the danger zone of her health-bar. Yet, her luck must have been just barely above shitty because her health jumped back up a moment later with a proc of the regeneration ability of her bracelet.

A moment later and a ray of light fell on her.

"If I had the breastplate too, this would be less stressful!" She laughed and kicked a goblin in the face.

It went down, and she stepped over it to slash another as her companion's blade passed through its head, taking its life.

"If it makes you feel any better. . .you're correct. . ." Worm muttered incredulously.

A goblin's weapon glowed, it snarled, and Lucy's left arm lopped off.

". . ."

""

Light surrounded her as her health bar flickered above 2%.

"Holy hell—"

Lucy took that chance and began slashing away. Three goblins became two as her bracelet triggered, bringing her hp up only for two weapons to bring it right back down. Two goblins became one as she blocked a blade and kicked an attacker in the face before it could connect a slash. And, in the end, the last exploded into blue particles through Worm's flurry of thrusts.

Lucy stood, her singular arm gripping her weapon tightly within a tunnel that regained its silence. Her breath was rushed.

"Worm. . ." She said, squinting at her hp bar that flickered the deep crimson of 1%.

". . .yes?"

"I love this game but. . ." She took a deep, hatred-filled, breath, "The developers can burn. Who pits two beginners against ten goblins at once?!"

"Yeah. . ."

They survived the onslaught. With no health or mana potions, however, it was now going to be a game of waiting to regenerate.
