The cracked bronze series weapons of the goblins were, thankfully, obtainable by killing any goblin found out in the wide open world of Eclipse. At least, those within the forest surrounding Acron. It seemed hunting them had been what Worm was doing before they had stumbled upon each other, partied up, and entered the dungeon.

A level 6 goblin charged forward, its sword swinging in a wide arc as it snarled.

Gripping with both hands, Lucy slashed her blade upwards, knocking the goblin off its balance as she met its weapon. Though she hadn't made a direct hit, its health still climbed down from 100% to 70%.

She took a step forward and swung her blade, ripping clean through its neck and detaching its head from its body in one fluid motion. As the head hit the floor, the goblin burst into particles.

"Easy," Lucy muttered.

As she wielded a bladed weapon, and her attack had been at least twice as powerful as its defense, she had been able to slice through its body using the mechanic Worm had begun terming 'Mutilate'.

She hadn't gained much experience from the fight, however, still firmly at level 10. And, as the goblin had been a lower level than herself, Lucy did not gain any souls from the creature either. In the end, the only thing of worth she did gain was another cracked bronze weapon, making her current amount 3.

[Goblin Scout Killed!]
{Rewards: 30 exp, 30 Gild, Cracked Bronze Dagger}

A new notice rung, and she looked besides her, watching Worm pull back her arm and sword from a burst of particles that had once been another goblin.

Eclipse's party reward system was an interesting one. Though exp, gild, and other items were given individually, any equipment drops were not—instead held by the party's storage. Though grateful that she now had another cracked bronze weapon, Lucy still thought the game stingy as they could have finished much earlier if not for that aspect of its party-play.

She shook her head.

"Welp, that's that, we've got enough now," She said, sheathing her weapon to her left hip while she turned to her companion, smiling, "Thanks for the help."

"No problem. We're a party, after all." Worm shook her head. "Besides, it gave me a chance to test a mechanic in more detail while we fought together and divided. Do you remember how we defeated the Goblin Commander?"

"You mean when we kept hitting the same spot?" Lucy asked back.

Worm nodded.

"I tested the 'Damage Stacking and 'Damage Burst' mechanic," She said, then frowned, "It seems it doesn't trigger unless it is someone else's attack that follows yours within 1.3 seconds. I also assume that the attacks must be in rotation."

"Stingy. . ." Lucy muttered, "This game's really stingy."

Worm nodded. "Indeed."

"But. . .I love it too."

Worm nodded once more.

"So do I."

They both sighed in unison and turned back towards Acron. Meeting Alec Colt in his smithy once more, Lucy went immediately to turn in the quest.

"I've got the cracked weapons you wanted," She said, "Now if only I can have your weapons too?"

"Oh, that was fast, did you two work together? If I knew you would, I would have requested for me!" He ignored half of her words, crackling with laughter as he accepted the weapons she sent.

While the two girls stared uncaring at him, he waved his hands.

"Alright, quest completed, travelers."

[Quest 'Free Bronze' completed!]
{Rewards: 'Blacksmith'}

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the option for the crafting class 'Blacksmith'! Would you like to accept it?]

Lucy readily accepted the class, of course, and immediately checked its details.

'Blacksmith'
—as a blacksmith, when you craft a weapon, piece of armor, or accessory, there will be properties added that reflect its quality and materials used in its production.
*Through gaming magic, you somehow smith faster.
*The better quality your creation, the better properties it brings out from its materials.

It was just as she had expected. It sounded just like the crafting class she already had, but simply in the direction of making equipment.

While they left the place, and entered into the streets of Acron once more, Lucy paused in her steps.

"What is it?" Worm asked.

". . .how do I craft stuff?" Lucy asked, "Don't tell me I have to do everything by hand like in real life?"

"No." Her companion shook her head. "You have to use a portable furnace. They'll be options to throw in materials, and then select the type of item you want to create from anything from a sword to a ring. After that, you wait awhile and a 'rough mold' is created. Then, all that's left is using an anvil and a hammer to hit it until its completed."

"Oh thank god," Lucy sighed in relief.

She was extremely thankful that the game devs were not stupid enough to expect players to do every single step of the process realistically. Even they were aware that, sometimes, breaking reality was beneficial to a game.

Worm nodded, agreeing with that sentiment with a soft smile.

"As well, you can also melt spare items into ores," She said, "Though you will receive far less than you first placed in."

"How do you know all of this anyway?"

As Eclipse's beta had not had crafting classes, Lucy was puzzled how the beta-tester knew all of this information.

"I asked Alec," Worm replied with a shrug, "The NPCs in this game are, as you can tell, quite intelligent and flexible."

"Flexible? Now you're just joking. He wouldn't even sell me one sword!"

The girl chuckled. "I meant flexible in terms of how they approach dialogues and the world around them."

At that, Lucy could only nod. So far, she hadn't felt as if she had been speaking with computational data when she talked with NPCs. They seemed real, life-like, unlike the previous generations of NPCs in past virtual reality games.

'Welp,' She thought, impressed, 'That's the first full-dive vrmmo for you.'
