She ran forward until she was before the shielding that covered the porch of the house then jump, grasping the roof of the thing and pulling herself up by force as it creaked.

"Woah," Voices said around her in wonder.

She hadn't lied when she said she was good at rock climbing. Though climbing a house and that didn't really compare. Lucy Heartfelt was just somewhat more agile than most. Her short stature, matched with her nimbleness, made her that way.

Stabilizing her footing, she looked to see the many individuals also climbing the two-story house. Some were holding on to the windows and inching slowly upward but she shook her head. That was too slow.

"I'm sorry for what I'm about to do!" She yelled a preemptive apology then ran.

"Eh?" An avatar turned his head to her.

His face met her foot and she jumped, grasping the clothing of the person above him.

"Wow. . .what beautiful form. . ." Someone muttered.

". . .isn't she just using others as a stepping ladder?"

"Look, this is Eclipse, anything to get to that hecking duck works in my book."

". . ."

Someone else scoffed, "He must be new here."

"We're all new here. The game just came out today." The player rolled his eyes.

"Speak for yourself," A female avatar chided, "A friend of mine knows someone who knows a beta-tester."

"The fu—?"

Lucy ceremoniously ignored the banter of the players and made her way up the house. Her long, blue, hair waved and her azure eyes glared upward. She could hear the quacking of Dafy the Duck as it faced the sun.

'That thing better not flap away before I get to it!' She thought.

The last person was a good distance to the roof so she grasped his shirt as well.

"Hey, what the h—" He fumbled.

"Sorry!" She said as she pulled herself up and climbed him. He was burly and tall, perfect for her tiny 5'2, 110 pounds, figure to worm over.

"Oh hey, it's you, E—"

Her foot met his face and she jumped, grasping the roof of the house with shaking fingers. Lucy gritted her teeth and slowly pulled herself up, breathing rushed, until her whole figure was flat against the sloped roof.

"My god she actually did it," Someone muttered.

"That's Eve for you, first she dies first and now she's first to climb the house too? Amazing."

Lucy looked back down and glared. "Hey that doesn't sound like a compliment!"

They laughed and waved her onward.

"Go on, go on, get your quest, and throw the duck down here for us."

She gnashed her teeth at them. Though she wasn't angry. Within this village, they were all simply having fun. A collective hatred of the quest-chain 'Baby Steps' and the animal which led it.

She focused on her task and crawled until she touched the uppermost ledge of the roof, then pulled herself up. Agile as she was, she quickly balanced herself on the beam and gingerly shuffled towards the Duck who sat lazily halfway.

"Ah *quack* it's the wretched girl who threw me!" It recognized her instantly.

"Yes it is." She grinned. "Now give me my rewards! I have your eggs!"

Dafy the Duck tilted its head as she brought the items out of her inventory. The small eggs grasped in her palms and showed to him while she inched closer until they were before each other.

"Hmm *quack* those aren't my eggs *quack* aren't those chicken eggs?" It quacked. "Tell you what. I'll take a few of these for dinner *quack* and you take one *quack* Now go look for my actual eggs. . .maybe they hatched and waddled away? Check the southern part of the forest *quack* it's the place closest to my nest."

[Baby Steps, Part 3]
—all you brought were chicken eggs the Frenzied Rabbits had stolen from the village farm. Disappointing. On a plus note, Dafy thinks his eggs hatched, got up, and walked away. Go to the southern part of the forest and look for them. Careful, beasts lurk within.
{Clear Conditions: Save the baby ducks.
Rewards: 100 exp, 1 Duck's Approval}

Lucy felt a vein pop in her head.

This duck was sending her on a goose chase. Even with the 10 exp she had gotten, and the darn egg of a chicken, she wasn't happy at all. She had ended up tumbling on dirt and grass to punch 12 rabbits to death after all!

"Why you, I'll kill you!" She leaped and caught it.

"Unhand me you *quack* scoundrel!" It flapped in her grasp.

"Stop moving!" Lucy glared in return, shaking atop the roof.

Then her foot slipped and she tumbled, duck in hand.

"Ah—"

Her body rolled from the sloped roof. Then she was falling as the duck continued quacking within her grasp.

"Wait, don't tell me this game has fall dam—"

A small tinge of pain struck her head and her vision blacked out.

[You have died. As you are immune to death penalties, you shall revive with no cost to your experience.]

Lucy appeared back within the village.

"I'll kill this duck!" She screamed into the sky.

The players surrounding her immediately nodded in understanding.

"You and me both," They said, "You and me both."
