Chapter 708: A Friend’s Gratitude

Cecile looked at Assid, “Assid, make sure no one can come here without my permission, and also make sure all walls are sealed.”

“Consider it done, Young Miss,” Assid bowed before he vanished.

Mavis had his pupils shrunk as he saw what happened. (I was sitting right opposite of him, and he was at the center of my glance! Yet, I can’t even keep up! I don’t even know in which direction did he left). He made a harsh swallow; He knew the group was mysterious but he never knew how capable they were.

Mavis smiled wryly before he picked up the menu that was already placed on the table. “What do you guys want? I will have the specials of the week, you should try it too if you never did!”

Lyon nodded, “Then I would have that too!”

The waitresses came and took notes on everyone’s order. They were slightly nervous. They had famous guests eating over before but this one hit differently. One was the young master of the Sky Clan the opposite was a gang of unlikely individuals, and the leader had been rumored to be the responsible one for First Hall’s destruction. They dared not to listen to what they were talking about.

“So, you have helped my husband from an irreversible situation,” said Cecile with a smile.

“Not really that irreversible though,” commented Kesya as she pursed her lips.

Cecile raised her hand and showed Kesya the back of it. The simple gesture immediately made her behave and brought out a wry smile from Mavis.

“Did I?” Mavis feigned the question as he scratched his cheek. “Maybe I did, or maybe I don’t, haha!”

“Don’t drag this more than necessary,” said Cecile as she shook her head. “If there is something that you want, state it.”

Mavis straightened his back before he slowly leaned forward. “I want to know who are you people are.”

The little secret of his clan’s identity was kept in a small circle, yet Cecile knew of it. Even though it was harmless and did little to nothing, he was still wary, no, he needed to be wary. The safety of his clan was at stake thus he needed to know what else did they know about Sky Clan.

(That secret must be just testing the water) thought Mavis as he smiled outwardly. (They must have known something deeper than that).

Cecile smiled, “I know you would ask that, I mean, who wouldn’t.”

Cherie and Hilde were also keen to know as well. The two of them might have spent a long time with the group compared to Mavis, but their knowledge about Lyon and the others was still shallow. They still hardly believed that Lyon was originally coming from the Mortal World. It was nothing but the benefit of the doubt.

“However, I cannot tell you that,” said Cecile as she shook her head.

Mavis furrowed his brows before he snorted a smile, “Of course.”

“Oh? Are you okay with that?” asked Lyon as he raised one of his brows. “Never thought that you will take it this calmly.”

Mavis shook his head, “I’m still a tad disappointed though, but if you’re not going to tell then why should I force you?”

“That’s a wise choice,” answered Graham. “For if you have chosen force, it might not end well for both of you.”

Mavis frowned confusedly, “Both of me? What does that mean?”

“It means you and Sky Clan,” said Cecile with a smile.

Mavis was taken back as his eyes opened wider. He had never heard someone dare enough to give a warning against his glorious clan. He smiled wryly, he couldn’t decide wether they were being serious or not.

“Meanwhile, you guys left a bad impression against Red Lotus,” said Mavis. “How do you feel?”

“We didn’t left a bad impression against Red Lotus, we left a bad impression against the girl called Ning,” denied Cecile calmly.

“Hehe, I was just joking, I know what’s going on,” said Mavis.

“However, it is also thanks to you that this mess didn’t escalate to the point of Alchemy Union’s annihilation,” said Cecile to the fright of the waitresses.

“Cecile, you’re scaring the waitreses,” said Lyon with a jest tone.

“Oh my, please forgive me,” said Cecile as she giggled her apology.

The waitresses tremendously shook their heads in fright, “P-Please, we don’t mind!!”

Mavis smiled wryly. Despite the power that they had, they still love to kid around.

“Ning is a vengeful person though,” said Mavis with a sigh as the waitresses started to arrange the food on the table.

“En, can tell,” said Lyon as he snorted with a smile. “One died because of her pride.”

(More like your pride no?) Mavis smiled inwardly before he shifted his glance at Cecile. “You know something about Red Lotus, don’t you?”

Cecile smiled as she reached out the glass and drank the poured fresh water inside. She looked at Mavis before she put down the glass and nodded, “Of course. If I know Sky Clan, naturally I know the Red Lotus as well.”

“Hah,” Mavis let out a sigh, “Care to tell?”

“Hmm,” Cecile pondered before she nodded, “I can tell you one thing, but it will be something that correlates to your clan as well.”

“Hm?” Mavis raised his brows before he laughed and his thin eyes closed to a slit. “Hahaha! What is it?”

Cecile smiled, “The Red Lotus’s progenitor also knew the Sky Clan’s origin story.”

“Really? You’re not lying right?” Mavis chuckled, his sarcastic tone was well apparent.

“You can ask your patriarch if you don’t believe me, it’s that simple isn’t it?” Cecile shrugged with a smile. “There might be a secret that you might not know as well.”

Mavis furrowed his brows and frowned. “A secret that I might not know as well? Are you sure about that? You know, I’m a pretty handful kid when it comes to secrets.”

“Can tell,” said Lyon as he nodded.

“You can?!” Mavis exclaimed.

“Well, you both are almost the same,” commented Lumina after she swallowed her food.

“What?!” Lyon raised his brows as he looked at Lumina who nonchalantly kept eating more and more. “What do you mean that we are almost the same? His hair is blue!”

“That’s obviously not what he meant, Lyon,” said Cecile. “Anyhow, that’s as far as you need to know.”

“I need to know?” Mavis raised his brows as more questions pop-up inside his mind. “You mean you have other secrets from that?”

“Of course,” Cecile nodded. “For example, does the word Sky Scripture ring a bell?”

Mavis nodded, “Well yes, it is really famous even outside our clan. After all, it is our ultimate weapon. Heh, that’s no secret, I’ve even read it before—though, hehe, only the patriarch was supposed to be the only one that legally could.”

“Then good,” Cecile nodded with a smile, “If you have read it before, you should find some clues there.”

“Clues?” Mavis frowned before he opened his eyes. “You, you know the content of our scripture?”

Cecile neither shook her head nor nodded, she merely smiled at him.

Mavis couldn’t believe it. She might not admit it, but from the way she said those words, she knew what’s the scripture contained. The verses that were supposed to be the Sky Clan’s utmost secret. (She is bluffing, right? Not even the elders of the clan were allowed to read the scripture, let alone an outisder. The scripture was heavily guarded as well, even an ant could be heard walking inside that room, furthermore, we have no information of someone breaking in. Who is she?).

“It’s better for you not to dwell in this matter even further than it is,” Cecile shook her head. “It will be a waste of time and effort. Instead, focus on your cultivation, and maybe, just maybe, you will know something.”

Mavis was defeated. He knew he won’t get anything out of her mouth, however, things might be different for the husband, though, he seemed not to know anything based on how he presented himself most of the time.

“However, our family is not as thick-skinned as the head of the family,” jested Cecile before she snapped her finger, “Kesya, give him the pill.”

“Ah? You knew?!” Kesya was taken back.

Mavis furrowed his brows before the dejected Kesya called him out.

“Oi, blue-boy, catch!” said Kesya as she threw the pill.

“Huh?” The pill was thrown so fast, he couldn’t even catch it with his eyes. A loud thock against his skull was heard immediately as the pill bounced and landed on the table.

“Woah, you responded like a snail,” said Kesya as she raised both brows.

“It’s because you threw it too fast,” commented Graham on the side.

Thankfully, Mavis of the Sky Clan manage to hold on to his conciousness albeit the smoke coming out from the grazed skin. He looked down whilst rubbing his forehead before his thin eyes snapped open. “A-Angush Pill?”
