He took a quick glance at the empress seated by his side and found her squinting her eyes at him, asking him the unspoken question.

He nudged Tang Moyu's side, catching her attention before whispering, "you should say something unless you want to see me marrying your good friend."
"Miss Tang?" Elder Gu asked her for confirmation. Was the devil serious or was he just spouting excuses? Song Huifen hadn't even mentioned that her son was in a relationship the last time they'd talked.

"I hope Young Master He had been treating our Yaoyao well." He started, "if you don't mind, can you please convince her to come out, and let's discuss the possible union between you and my granddaughter."

Gu Yuyao had refused to talk to her grandfather after he voiced his intention to marry her off to another man despite the fact that she was already in a relationship with He Lianchen. What hurt the most was that the old man didn't think He Lianchen was worthy enough for her.

She didn't waste any time and ran down the hallway towards the study room where the butler had informed her their guests were in. The moment she opened the door, four sets of eyes turned to look at her.
"Yaoyao…" He Lianchen finally sighed in relief seeing her.
"It seems like He Lianchen doesn't need to go upstairs and convince her." They heard Feng Tianyi said. "Anyway, Grandpa Gu. I think you and Sister Yaoyao need to have a good talk before we discuss the deal with He Lianchen later."
The old man agreed and nodded.
"Sure. I'll arrange for someone to prepare your meals in the meantime."
