No matter how much he wanted to help her, Feng Tianyi always felt his efforts were never enough. He didn't like being incompetent, especially when it came to his woman. If he could, he would try his best to give her everything that she wanted. But alas, that would never happen as Tang Moyu had proven again and again that she could manage on her own.
Tang Moyu and Feng Tianyi were two different people with remarkable feats of their own. In fact, the devil understood why she preferred doing everything on her own as he used to do the same before his accident.
Unless the task was tedious, troublesome and didn't need his immediate attention, he would rather pass those menial tasks to his subordinates, letting them suffer in his place. No wonder they hated him and didn't want him around.
Tang Moyu adjusted the light from the nightshade and was about to pull the blanket over herself when she recalled that she wasn't in her own room and was currently sharing her boyfriend's bed.
She sighed softly as she leaned back against the pillows on the soft bed. She felt slightly uncomfortable sharing the bed with another person, other than her own children of course. In fact, she had rarely slept on the same bed with her twins after they were old enough for their own beds because they were just too restless to stay in the same position at night and would move around the bed they were on.
She supposed that it shouldn't be an issue if she slept next to Feng Tianyi. It wasn't like anything was going to happen between them, so she had nothing to worry about. Feng Tianyi hadn't said anything about the arrangement and chose to simply slip beneath the covers beside her and reached over to switch off the light on his side.
Tang Moyu wondered what he was thinking right now, or if he was truly okay having her sleep next to him without doing anything else. Eventually, she pushed the thought aside and rolled onto her side, trying to get some sleep in an unfamiliar place.
Contrary to the empress, Feng Tianyi was nervous to have her sleep next to him. He wasn't sure what urged him to ask her to spend the night here with him. His eyes swept and followed the curve of her body before forcing himself to look up at the ceiling.
It had been years since the last time he had someone to sleep on the same bed with him. In fact, he had long accepted that in his current condition, it would be almost impossible for him to meet a woman who could accept him as he is.
Suddenly, the empress rolled to face him and looked at him with curiosity. Even in the dark, she could sense his eyes locked on her back.
"A beautiful woman sleeping beside me? How can I waste the chance?" He retorted back.
The empress scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Pervert." She muttered under her breath, but was enough for him to hear.
"Hmm, I don't mind showing you how perverted I can really be." The devil grinned back, propping his head up with one hand as he faced her. His fingers tracing her long silky tresses spilt on his sheets.
Tang Moyu looked at him as if he'd sprouted an extra head on his shoulders.
"That's not funny, Feng Tianyi." She gave him a flat look.
"I'm not even joking, Moyu. Do you even realize how tempting you look right now?" The devil leaned forward, his lips dangerously close to hers.
"Such a tease, Moyu. Had I known that you would test my patience like this, I would've let you go back to the safety of your own room." His eyes flashed with desire and longing, making Tang Moyu hold her breath from the intensity of it.
Tang Moyu had to remind herself that even in his crippled state, Feng Tianyi was still a man. A beast that could react when there was a bait nearby, and that bait happened to be her. She tilted her head to the other side, refusing to meet his heated gaze, which was a bad move because she had unintentionally exposed her slender neck to his sight.
Suddenly, Feng Tianyi lowered his head and nibbled on her ear lobe.
"Really tempting. A sweet temptation." He whispered, effectively turning her cheeks apple red.
Tang Moyu kept still in shock as she felt the warmth of his body, the strength of his arms as he wrapped an arm around her. His lips placed a gentle kiss on the sensitive spot below her ear before burning his face in her hair.
"Don't move. Let me hold you like this even for a moment." Feng Tianyi told her.
He wanted to touch her, to kiss her, to hold her every time he saw her. However, he had decided that such actions should be limited, until she got more comfortable being with him. He didn't want her to feel like she was being pushed into anything.
Too bad, his good intentions faltered every so often, especially when she was in his arms. Feng Tianyi was perturbed by his lack of control and didn't want to make her uncomfortable when all he wanted to do was to love her in all the ways he knew and was accustomed to.
