After a long week of staying away from her family, Tang Moyu was glad that she was back in Shenzhen now. The place was familiar to her, letting her know that she wasn't too far away from her loved ones, who were surely waiting eagerly for her return.
However, before she could drive back to Peach Blossom Garden, she remained at the airport to wait for Elaine Wu's arrival. She checked the time on her wristwatch as she held her luggage on her side. Elaine should be here any time soon.
Since Elaine would be working along with her and Li Meili, the young heiress had decided to fly back to Shenzhen as soon as she could. There were things needed to be done and discussed by the three of them before Elaine and Li Meili could go to Beijing to establish the newest branch of The Black Nightingale.
"Sister Moyu!" Tang Moyu heard a familiar voice calling her name. She lifted her head and adjusted her sunglasses to see Elaine Wu running towards her excitedly.
Elaine didn't bother about propriety and ran towards the empress, wrapping her arms tightly around Tang Moyu.
"M-Miss Elaine?" Tang Moyu was shocked to receive such a physical response from her.
"Sister Moyu! Thank you so much for giving me a chance! I promise you, I'll do my best to help you and Sister Meili!" She said excitedly. It was hard for her to convince her father to allow her to come back and train under the empress's tutelage, but since she had decided to take over their family business, they eventually agreed to her request.
"Now, now, we haven't done anything yet, alright?" Tang Moyu gently parted herself from Elaine Wu, aside from her children and husband, who took a liking to hugging her without a warning, she wasn't used to receiving such affection from her friends.
"Still! You don't know how grateful I am that you agreed to my request." Elaine insisted. She knew she still had a lot to learn on how to run a massive company like her family's, but she didn't mind starting from scratch to gain the experience she needed.
"Anyway, enough of that for now. You've just arrived. Welcome back." Tang Moyu patted her shoulder and dragged her luggage behind her.
Elaine Wu gave her a dazzling smile and nodded in agreement. Yes, it's been a while since she left Shenzhen and she felt better now that she was reunited with her new friends.
"I'm sorry I wasn't able to congratulate you and Brother Qin on your marriage."
"No worries. None of us were prepared for that." The empress gave her a curt nod. She stopped walking when she saw two men in black suits appear in front of them.
"Madam, the car is waiting outside." One of them said before taking Tang Moyu and Elaine Wu's luggage. "Please follow us."
The two women followed their lead but were stopped midway when they heard someone call out Tang Moyu's name.
"Moyu Jie!"
Tang Moyu turned her head and was surprised to see her younger brother in the airport. She hadn't heard about him leaving Shenzhen and hadn't talked to him for at least two weeks already. Thinking about it, wasn't it around the same time he joined Zhang Corporation? Was the Zhang family giving her brother a hard time?
Tang Beixuan waved his hand to get her attention, so the empress stood still in her spot and waited for him to come to her. When he did, Tang Beixuan was panting, but his face still had the same smile he'd given her earlier.
"Beixuan, what are you doing here? I didn't know you weren't in Shenzhen." She asked her brother.
"Oh, that." Tang Beixuan scratched his head. He totally forgot to give his sister and Li Meili a call to inform them. But hey, his trip was also unexpected. Zhang Jiren had only given him four hours to prepare before he dragged him to Beijing.
"I went to Beijing with my boss on short notice." He said in defense. "I'm sorry I forgot to tell you, but I made sure to come back as soon as I can because today's your birthday!"
Tang Moyu fought the urge not to roll her eyes. She didn't need to be reminded of that. She heard Elaine Wu giggle beside her, no doubt the young heiress was also aware of it. She wouldn't be surprised if it was Li Meili or Lu Tianxin who told Elaine about her birthday today.
"Well, you came back just in time. Congratulations!" She told her brother.
"If you are going to leave as soon as we landed, the least you could do is tell me you are leaving." A cold, stoic voice reached Tang Beixuan's ears. He couldn't stop the shiver that ran down his spine upon hearing his voice.
Shit. He totally forgot about Zhang Jiren who came back along with him today. He didn't want his older sister to be worried about him.
Tang Moyu turned her head to the direction of the voice and her brown eyes met a pair of eyes with the same shade as hers, the coldness in it comparable to an iceberg.
"And you are?" She asked, although she already had a suspicion of who this man was. She had seen several articles about Zhang Jiren before and read about how popular he was these days, but this was the first time she had met him in person.
Tang Beixuan cleared his throat and stood between his boss and elder sister. He wasn't sure how the two perceived each other.
"Moyu Jie, this is my boss… His name is Zhang Jiren. You might have heard of him already…" He introduced Zhang Jiren to his sister before turning to look at his cousin nervously. "Mr. Zhang, this is my sister, Tang Moyu."
"I know," Zhang Jiren said, his gaze kept locked on the aloof empress standing in front of him. "Pleased to meet you, Miss Tang."
