Yun Zhen looked around the house and was surprised to see that although the house was as normal as the ones other people had, it had a homey feeling to it. To be honest, he didn't know much about Su Jingyi, except that both of her parents were always away when she was younger and she had a little brother whom she always looked after.
When he got into the living room, he wasn't surprised to see an older man who resembled Su Jingli a little. It wasn't hard to realize that this man was Su Jingyi and Su Jingli's father.
But who was the man sitting next to him then? Yun Zhen wondered.
There was no resemblance of this man to the Su family, so he was probably an outsider or perhaps the man Su Jingyi was supposed to marry.
The thought left a bad taste in Yun Zhen's mouth, but he refused to let it be seen on his face. Instead, he gave Su Jingyi's father a polite smile and greeted him.
"We have another guest!" Mother Su announced. "He's here for Jingyi." She added.
"Mr. Yun, please take a seat." She offered, leaving Su Jingyi flabbergasted with her mother's action.
Su Jingyi wanted to facepalm herself and hoped that the earth would swallow her whole to avoid further embarrassment she might suffer tonight due to her mother's plans. She truly didn't think it was a good idea to invite Yun Zhen in when there was another guest in their home tonight.
"Are you Jingyi's friend?" Her father asked. "She didn't say she was expecting a guest today."
"Mr. Yun just arrived today. I think he was planning to surprise Sis, but got the surprise himself." Su Jingli chuckled as he walked past his sister who was scowling at him.
For goodness sake, how can her brother find entertainment under the circ.u.mstance she was in? This wasn't funny at all!
Su Jingyi suddenly felt a headache coming her way from this sudden visit by Yun Zhen. He could have given her a call first before coming here to see her rather than appearing out of nowhere unannounced.
The other man gave Yun Zhen a head to toe look and arched a slender brow. Aside from Yun Zhen's handsome features and tall stature, he couldn't see anything special about him.
Was he Su Jingyi's lover from Shenzhen? He heard that Su Jingyi had spent over a decade in Shenzhen working there and that she barely had time to meet a man and get married.
Mo Qianfan didn't think that Yun Zhen would pose a threat to him. Looking at Su Jingyi and this other guest, he assumed that the two had a nasty break up and she had left Yun Zhen before she came back to Shanghai.
"Ah, I didn't know you have a guest. I should have called before coming here." Yun Zhen finally voiced out what Su Jingyi had been thinking all this while. He shed his coat and allowed Su Jingyi's mother to hang it on a coat rack nearby.
"Are you her friend?" Mo Qianfan asked, curious to know what kind of relationship Su Jingyi had with the man. "I'm Mo Qianfan, by the way. Our families have known each other for years now." He shook Yun Zhen's hand in greeting. He was clearly indicating that he knew Su Jingyi on a personal level.
Yun Zhen gave the other man a good look and smiled like he used to. He wasn't that dumb not to noticed that Mo Qianfan was looking down on him. He briefly wondered if this was the kind of man Su Jingyi's parents wanted her to marry in the future.
"We are colleagues. Su Jingyi and I used to work together as a team." He said with a knowing smile. It was only natural that they would be curious as to what his relationship with her was.
A person like Mo Qianfan wouldn't easily be able to undermine someone like Yun Zhen. He had met a lot of people like him in the past and he knew how to deal with them, but he would rather not waste his time with Mo Qianfan right now and offend Su Jingyi's parents. He decided to deal with him later.
"So what brings you here, Mr. Yun?" Mo Qianfan asked. Yun Zhen being here could only mean trouble for him. "Do you need something from Miss Su?"
"Oh, that can be for later." Mother Su interjected with a smile, as if she wasn't bothered at all with Yun Zhen's sudden appearance tonight. "Why don't you join us for dinner tonight, Mr. Yun? I made a lot today and I'm sure that is more than enough for us to eat."
Su Jingyi couldn't believe that her parents were taking the sudden turns of events really well, even her little brother was amused by it. To think that her family would try to gang up on her at this moment. Perhaps her parents probably knew who Yun Zhen was by now.
If she could, she would rather run away now before she dug a deeper grave for herself. Didn't she run away from Yun Zhen to free herself from him? So why did he have to come here when she had already decided to move on with her life?

"That sounds wonderful, Madam Su. I have been on the road for hours and would love to try your home cooking. Su Jingyi has been bragging about it all these years." She heard Yun Zhen say to her mother.
