Chapter 122 Wager

When Xiang Ning spoke, the four people on Fang Rou’s end and the five on Li Minghao’s end were equally confused. Wasn’t he all riled up like a bull, as if he was going to tear the school down with his bare hands? All you did was take a deep, solemn breath, I thought you were going to insult the heavens with deep hatred, yet that was it?

That’s right. Xiang Ning’s behavior was a complete surprise—was this really the same person who called everyone weak and an imbecile just now?

“Hahahaha, I’m going to die, does this coward still want to storm the school?”

“No way, I’m going to pee my pants from laughing, is this what he meant? I think he was knocked silly in the head!”

Within Qiling Academy, the countless students watching the livestream either burst out laughing or privately shook their heads. He had embarrassed their school.

Within the headmaster’s office, Qi Jiuming turned to Lei Zhongyuan, exasperated, “This is the kid you mentioned with potential? He’s talented, for sure, but… this is embarrassing.”

Lei Zhongyuan’s mouth twitched. They weren’t watching the livestream, but the security camera feed from the field. Ever since Xiang Ning had entered Third School, Lei Zhongyuan had been arrogantly bragging about the havoc he would wreak in the school. In the end, it was all bark and no bite. He wanted to hide in a hole now, he was so embarrassed.

Yet just as everyone thought Third School would mock Xiang Ning, the entire school erupted in shouts and screams. Just like a gigantic hive, angry students swarmed out of the teaching building in a manner so fearsome it scared their own teachers.

“What’s all that violent screaming about killing someone?”

“Why does it feel like Xiang Ning said something insulting? Look at the bloodthirsty eyes in the crowd! It’s terrifying!”

“Third School’s students must hold themselves pretty high, why do they all look like he killed their fathers?”

Not just Qi Jiuming, the entire Qiling Academy was perplexed and unsure of what had just happened.

“Xiang Ning you asshole, you must have a death wish!”

“How dare you insult my school’s name! I’ll smash your head to pieces!”

“Don’t hold me back, I want to fight him to the death!”

“Such arrogance! Do you really think no one can beat you just because you ranked first?”

A wave of insults and curses roared over like a tsunami, scaring Aiken into silence.

“Oh my god, are they insane? Xiang Ning didn’t even say anything unreasonable....” In disbelief, Aiken immediately hid behind the group.

“They’re offended so easily?” Li Zimo was confused.

Only Xiang Ning stood in front in a confident stance. The audience wasn’t sure if his face just elicited anger or if he had been entered into some hit-on-sight name list at Third School. It was unbelievable to receive such strong reactions. However, none of them could know what actually happened. Even Xiang Ning had a strange look on his face. His Taunt skill was amazing, and the effects of its ‘non-discriminatory’ setting was astounding.

Students and teachers alike were lured out of the teaching building, and in the blink of an eye, he had gained a terrifying sum of fifty thousand Fury Points. Alarmed, he immediately upgraded his Telekinesis to Peak Mastery, then added the rest to his Mental Power, with each point added to it costing him two hundred Fury Points.

Mental Power: Tier two, four-star spiritual cultivator (230 [+])

“Wait, you achieved another breakthrough in your Mental Power?” gasped Fang Rou.

Xiang Ning shrugged. “The sudden crowd scared me, and I broke through.” He, too, was exasperated, of course a sudden surge of fifty thousand Fury Points would alarm him.

The people behind him were stunned. Was he human?

After a while, he gained another thirty thousand Fury Points. The students of Third School were too generous!

As he flirted with the thought of addressing the school once again, a middle-aged teacher walked out sporting a glare as sharp as electricity. Xiang Ning stared at him for a moment. He was at least a tier three, seven-star martial artist, but not tier four yet.

When they saw the teacher walk out, the Third School students hollering to kill Xiang Ning fell silent.

While Xiang Ning speculated about this teacher’s specialty, the teacher didn’t even take one glance at him and instead turned his attention to Fang Rou. “Niece Fang, what do you make of this?”

No one expected this Third School teacher to know Fang Rou.

Fang Rou stepped forward and explained to Xiang Ning, “He’s an old friend of my father, Ding Maoxiong, the head teacher of Third School.”

Xiang Ning nodded, suddenly thinking of Qiling Academy’s head teacher, Liu Ouhai. Compared to this energetic and sharp middle-aged man, Liu Ouhai was just some creepy old guy. There was no comparison.

As he amused himself with the thought, Fang Rou nodded at Ding Maoxiong. “Uncle Ding, we’re here, as my team leader announced, to challenge the martial artists of your school to a duel. We’re also endorsed by our school’s headmaster.”

When Ding Maoxiong heard that this challenge had been endorsed by Qiling Academy’s headmaster, his eyes narrowed, then fell on Xiang Ning. Naturally, he knew this person. He was the winner of the wilderness activity, so he received some information about him.

“Alright, but you can’t waltz in and challenge our school just like that. I wonder if your headmaster is willing to pay the price?” asked Ding Maoxiong.

Fang Rou turned to Xiang Ning, who naturally took over as the spokesperson. “Five picks of a skill tier four and under, plus all the prize money our school received during the wilderness activity and the year’s worth of cultivation resources that were awarded to our school for our team winning first place.”

Even this seasoned teacher who had taught for more than twenty years drew a sharp breath. A tier four skill cost at least a million dollars on Earth’s Home, and that was for a common martial skill. If it was a breathing technique or martial style, then the total worth of all five skills was more than a hundred million dollars. Plus the year of cultivation resources awarded to the winner’s school, specifically the winning team’s form. That meant their school’s upper-first year would have double the amount of resources this year. This was worth a hundred million dollars too, plus they had the prize money. Everything added together was three hundred million dollars!

Not only did the audience in the livestream go mad, even the students and Ding Maoxiong lost their minds. Ding Maoxiong’s face reddened, unable to hide his excitement. If he could procure such a prize, he would be one step closer to becoming the future headmaster! However, he still couldn’t think of what his school could offer to match such an audacious wager.
