Chapter 227 What About It?

The snake howled in pain, causing the entire city to reverberate with its painful cry. The beasts near the center of the city started behaving even more aggressively.

The livestream was silent. Since when had Xiang Ning been this strong?

Li Yunfei was standing above the hill as he surveyed the situation below. “Where are you guys now?”

“We’re six kilometers away from the rendezvous point. There are too many beasts outside, and Xiang Ning is still fighting against the Octoviolet Silversnake!” Six urgently whispered into his mic.

Li Yunfei was distressed. He could easily call everyone to drive and pick up both Six and Xiang Ning, but the cult members were still around. They couldn’t afford to lose their only escape route!

“I understand. Most of the beasts are congregating toward the central building and won’t loiter around for long. You shouldn’t be in much danger. But don’t enter the sewer again! Even the beasts underground are becoming more aggressive. Silently and slowly navigate the city to safety,” Li Yunfei ordered.

“I understand, don’t worry,” Six replied.

“Brat, you need to come back alive.” Li Yunfei was staring at the city as he wracked his brain to find a plan.

As for Xiang Ning, he was standing atop a building and staring down at the snake. The Octoviolet Silversnake had changed; its silvery body was now a deep purple as black mist scattered out from its body, living up to its namesake. The black mist corroded everything it touched, even Xiang Ning’s skin.

“Did you really think you could kill me? Leave now and I will spare you!” The snake hissed, warning him to stay back.

If anyone else had heard what it said they would have thought that the snake was injured and afraid. But Xiang Ning knew that its strength was nowhere that weak. It was just a fluke that he had managed to injure it in the first place.

In just under a minute, the Octoviolet Silversnake’s eye had already healed. Its vitality was astounding!

Xiang Ning shook his head. “You must die today.”

“Arrogant human!” It spewed a stream of black mist toward Xiang Ning, who tried escaping by using his flying knives as footholds. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the time to return them back to his side afterward.

He felt his connection to one of the flying knives was severed. A melting piece of metal was found where the mist had passed through.

It was his own flying knife!

Now he was even more worried. The corrosive properties of the black mist were too scary, so much so that the cure might not work this time. He shuddered to think how strong the snake was when it was at its peak. He wondered which martial artist was strong enough to injure, let alone kill it.

When he directed his attention below, goosebumps flared all over his body. No wonder it was so noisy! There were too many beasts below, every single one of which was looking at him with hunger.

Incidentally, he saw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

He grabbed a bunch of healing pills and ate them all. After recovering his Mental Power, he controlled the remaining eighteen flying knives and used them as footholds. His control over his Mental Power far exceeded the norm.

“He’s too good! It’s even better than some of the tier six spiritual cultivators! How’d he even train his Mental Power? He’s so young too!”

“Scary. His talent is scary.”

“Now I know why the Seven Deadly Sins wanted to capture him.”

“Yeah! If I were them I would’ve snuffed him out before he could grow, too!”

“Look! What’s he doing?”

The livestream was showing Xiang Ning running up a building as the Octoviolet Silversnake and thousands of beasts were hot on his heels.

“Why’s he running upward?”

Most of them were oblivious to what Xiang Ning was doing, but soon the reason was clear to them. They saw him shout something down the building. Thanks to the wall his sound echoed all the way down like a megaphone.

Activating his Taunt, he was harvesting the Fury Points like a fucking game event!

Xiang Ning was ecstatic as he saw his Fury Points explosively increasing.

“Fucking idiot! Look out behind you!” Li Yunfei shouted into his mic as he was watching with his binoculars.

Xiang Ning had just turned around to see a purple whip slashing past him. With a crack, he was hit like a ball and flew out into another adjacent building. The physical strength of an Octoviolet Silversnake was enough to inflict major wounds on him.

This was entirely his own fault. Balamu had been taking his sweet time to chase before Xiang Ning used Taunt. Once he used it, Balamu was enraged and its speed increased. Xiang Ning didn’t even have time to react before he was swatted away by its tail.

He climbed out from the rubble and smiled when he saw that Balamu was enraged. His plan was going to succeed! In an instant, he increased his strength once more!

“Gate of Death, open!” His vitality soared as his strength increased by another fold.

None of the beasts were now able to contain their excitement. Even Balamu was getting excited, its tongue flickering in and out.

......

The battle in the ruined city was recorded by satellite and transmitted to the Asian headquarters of the Federation in North Star City. The strongest people in Asia were gathered there.

This was also Asia’s largest safe zone, with tier nine martial artists ensuring the peace of the megacity. Home to over a hundred million people, the city was both paradise and dystopia. The strong and rich flourished while the weak suffered.

In the central government sector, a small meeting room was streaming the data collected by the satellite. The holograms were all watching the battle unfolding.

There were three extremely strong people sitting around the table.

“Old Zhao, is this the man you’ve chosen?” One of the ladies asked. She wasn’t pretty by society's standards, but she was still quite good-looking. Something about her was very retro.

“Yeah, don’t look down on him. Do you know Dong Qianyi? The lab that he was in charge of succeeded in producing dimensional rings. Without the young man in question, it would’ve taken at least another ten years.” Old Zhao was naturally the very same man that lived and smoked outside the mines near Marsh City.

As he said that, he threw her a prototype dimensional ring. She inspected it before Old Zhao retrieved a couple of apples from the ring.

“Not bad, eh?”
