Chapter 231 It's Too Late

Everyone screamed in alarm.

Outside of Marsh City, Xiang Xiaoyu was holding the white teddy bear that Chen Zixin had gifted her. She had been watching the livestream from the very beginning. When she saw Xiang Ning fighting against the snake, her heart beat very fast. She almost cried when she saw the blue rocket hit him. She was anxious, but kept reassuring herself that her brother would come out alive. Just like when they were younger, his body would be covered in wounds but he would always stand back up with a smile and hand her a candy.

She was tightly gripping the teddy bear and only released it once she saw that Xiang Ning had returned back to the battlefield unharmed. She knew that her brother was unbeatable, and he had promised that he would return safely.

Back in the academy, many students were clapping and cheering. How could their idol be killed in such a way? Maybe he had already noticed the danger and defended against it as much as he could. If not, how could he have reacted to the rocket that came barreling toward him at such a high speed?

Everyone knew that snakes were beasts with increased sensitivity and perception; especially Balamu, a snake-type beast. Balamu barely shifted its body to avoid damaging its critical internal organs, but the rocket still exploded in its body.

But what they didn’t know was that Xiang Ning had Combat Instinct, allowing him to be as perceptive as a beast. His sensitivity to danger was now like a second instinct to him. He was able to detect those who were observing him from the dark in a little less than a minute.

But now he was faced with another danger.

Looking at the ten spiritual cultivators, Xiang Ning betrayed no emotions on his face. Bull grew wary the moment he saw that Xiang Ning was confidently looking at them. His were not the eyes of prey, but an overlord looking down on ants. Bull suddenly felt that he could kill the ten spiritual cultivators in a blink of an eye.

He dismissed that thought. Impossible! There’s no way he can be that strong. There’s ten spiritual cultivators here! Even if they were to lose to him individually, there’s still ten of them! There’s no chance of us losing!

But the next scene threw everyone’s expectations out of the window. Xiang Ning had killed all ten of the spiritual cultivators—Bull’s bad feeling had come true.

In the span of two breaths, Xiang Ning had used ten flying knives and attacked all of them at once. What was scarier was that every single one of them was coming in at their blindspots, as if the knives had eyes. No matter how they dodged, another knife would come flying over and stab them.

The knives landed true and stabbed at their critical points. In the first breath, four of them had fallen with a single swing of Xiang Ning’s sword. Bull tried warning them, but it was too late. In another breath, the rest of the spiritual cultivators had been sent to hell.

It looked like Bull had sent his own men to their deaths. He swore that he had reacted and wanted to warn them, but Xiang Ning was faster. All of them had already been dead by the time Bull’s words reached his throat.

Xiang Ning needed to act fast. He urgently needed to repair the Devourer. From the blood of his enemy, the Devourer had regained two-thirds of its strength, but its edge was still fragmented. He looked at Bull and taunted him by pointing the sword at him.

“Did you know that I hate people like you who hide behind masks? Since you dare step into the light, why not show yourself?”

“No need, you’ll die by my hands today. You’re too powerful, you must die here today,” Bull chuckled.

Just as he said that a flying knife flew toward his head. Its speed wasn’t that fast, so Bull thought that it was weird. He took out a dagger to knock away the flying knife, but another knife flew from his blind spot!

Bull barely dodged it, but the knife had cut the left side of his face, ripping off part of the mask and revealing his brown skin.

Xiang Ning furrowed his brows.

Bull was furious. He had been deceived! He stepped hard and rushed toward Xiang Ning. His attack far exceeded the strength of a tier four martial artist.

From the half-torn mask, part of Bull’s face was revealed and his smile sickened everyone to the core.

“Good! Here I was thinking about how I would kidnap you, looks like I will have to kill you then.” Just when he was about to reach Xiang Ning, he turned and went to the side of Balamu. He took out the cure and poured all of it into its wounds, causing it to scream in pain. It was no longer the powerful foe it had been.

Before he could even do anything else, Xiang Ning appeared in front of him, smiling like an old grandpa would smile at grandchildren. Bull was terrified. How did he appear beside me without making any noise? How strong is he??

Bull took out his scissors, intending to slice Xiang Ning into ribbons.

“Charging Toss!”

Xiang Ning countered by using the Peak Mastery Charging Toss and pushed Bull back at least thirty meters. At the end of the charge, Xiang Ning threw the Devourer and it stabbed into Balamu. The core of the sword lit up as it consumed the flesh of the snake to repair itself.

As for Xiang Ning, he used three flying knives to block the scissors. Bull kept pushing with his attack as Xiang Ning slowly backed away.

He slowly counted the time as he retreated from Balamu and the Devourer. “Thirty-one, thirty.…” He was taunting Bull, as if he was implying that his death would come after the countdown ended.

As the number continued growing lower, Bull attacked more and more furiously. Xiang Ning was barely able to defend himself and was almost hit by Bull on more than one occasion.

When there were only five seconds left, Bull turned to run away. “It’s too late,” said Xiang Ning.
